Daemon stretched his front legs and shook his head. His white mane fluffing up a bit, but he pressed it back down somewhat with his paw. Light blue hues looked around, seeming no one was about today. Saddening, he really wanted to meet some of those that lived here. To meet others would be a good idea since he had returned home.

"Wonder where everyone is..." he said aloud. Daemon's voice was rough, but smooth, that odd combination that gave him a vgoice not usually heard. Padding through the blades of green grass Daemon sighed. He felt at home. Everything seemed to be going just fine.

Except the fact he knew little that lived here.

He believed his bet bet of meeting others would be to search others out. Besides, how bad could a little walk be anyway? What would he find besides those things he knew of and had seen before?

A little tan body went hurtling through the grass in great bounds, letting out a childish roar as it finally pounced on what it'd been chaising.

Ushukuru lifted his paws and laughed triumphantly at the mouse that cowered under them, hemmed in by his claws. "Yes! I got you! Thought you could escape me, huh? Nothing escapes the prince!"

The cub was so buisy celebrating his victory that he actually bounced to his paws and danced in a little circle. The mouse took the opportunity to dash to safety under a thick mat of grass, leaving the cub to stare stupidly after him. Suddenly highly embarassed by letting his prey go, Ushu dropped to sit in the dirt and began to lick his paws clean, appeared unconcerned. Like it had been his intention the whole time to let the mouse go.

Daemon with his white pelt moved through the grasses. Wasn't that difficult now that he was bigger, he remembered when it was hard to weave in the grass to go somewhere. Good old days, he remembered them fondly. The sun was high and beating down upon his back, the rays of light were warm, made him smile.

He tilted his head when he saw a tan body jump around, it was quite small. He smirked to himself and headed that way, only to fall upon a tan cub that looked strangely familiar...where had he seen those colors before?

"Hey there kid..." Daemon said with a smile, trying to be friendly. He wasn't one to know how to get along with younger ones, considering he didn't grow up around many younger lions when he didn't live here.

Plus, he really had to drop the 'calling everyone kid' thing.

"What're you up to?" he asked with a flick of his tail.

Ushu jumped a little when the older lion appeared, his eyes going wide as he looked up at him. This wasn't a lion he'd met before... did that make him a rogue? Well, he probably wouldn't be so far in the Pridelands if he was a rogue. The adults kept watch over stuff like that, making it safe for a cub to play off by himself.

"Uh, hello..." Reminded of what he'd been doing, Ushu looked around for his mouse, hoping that maybe it might still be lurking nearby. "I was chaising a mouse... but it's a clever mouse, it got away from me..." Frowning, he plopped his little behind back into the dust, tail flicking. "Oh, well... it wouldn't have been more than a snack anways."

Tilting his head, he looked back to the white lion, a little frown creasing his forehead. "Hey, what are you doing out here? I've never seen you before..."

"A clever mouse?" Daemon asked, though he smiled, he remembered when he would chase small things around, trying to get better at hunting. It was fun, but disappointing when one of them got away. "Well then, seems like you'll have to become more clever then the mouse, then he won't stand a chance."

Daemon was trying to be encouraging, though he wasn't sure on how he was really doing with that. He was trying though! He had to get better at the social aspect of this pride, it was so large after all. With the question posed to Daemon, he was trying to figure out whether he should be truthful, or tell the kid it was none of his business.

Truth would probably be best.

"Trying to reaquaint myself with everything kid, I was born here, left for a little while, and came back, trying to get my footing you know? By the way, I'm Daemon, whats your name kid?"

Again, his calling everyone 'kid' habit was coming back.

Ushu watched the older lion with wide, solemn red eyes, nodding as he spoke. "I'm going to grow up to be a big, strong lion like my grandpa. I won't hunt mice then, I'll hunt zebras and stuff!"

The little tan chest puffed out proudly, the brown-tuffed tail swaying side to side. Ushu's head tilted as he looked back up at the grown-up, a frown lining his forehead. "If you were born here, why did you leave and come back? Why didn't you just stay here? All that's out there is rogue lands, why would you want to go there?" The questions rolled easily from his mouth, the small mind cranking quickly to pose one after the other after the other. Cubs were naturally curious about the world around them, and this tan prince was no exception.

Daemon flicked his tail, while his mind was deciding if he should tell him the truth or not. Daemon didn't catch the kid's name, if he did say it, so for now, this little curious wonder would forever be kid...least for now. "Things happen kid, some things we don't have control over, it makes us want to try and change for the better..."

He missed her...he'd still try to make ehr proud.

"My mother, she died when I was young, I was too little to do anything to help, I lost my sister too, I didn't feel like there was anything for me here when they were gone...so I left, to become somehting so that they would be proud of me. Little did I know, out there, its not a home...here though, here is where their memories are...so I came back...

Its complicated I guess..."

Ushu blinked and ducked his head, only now remembering the lion's question. "Oh, I'm Ushukuru by the way." His head raised again and he puffed out his chest, his tail flicking. "Son of Rehani and Denahi, Grandson of Mufasa and Sarabi, Prince of the Pridelands." He adopted as regal a look as he could manage, swelling with pride at his leniage... at least until he heard the rest of what Daemon said.

The cub deflated a little at that. "Oh... I'm sorry. That's sad... I wouldn't want to loose my mother, not at all." The meer thought made the juvenile's eyes glisten. His mother was his angel, his perfection. He loved her more than anything, and couldn't even think of loosing her. "I'm glad you came back, then." The tan male nodded, his face solemn. "Its good to remember things... it makes your strong."

Daemon smirked at Ushukuru, a long name, perhaps he might shorten it to remember it better. Daemon had that habit, and the habit of calling everyone 'kid,' ah well, so it goes sometimes. He watched at Ushu seemed to puff himself up, introduce himself, he was a prince? Well now, that was interesting. Daemon hadn't met a prince of these lands before, least, not that he could remember.

"Sarabi...my mother, I think she knew her, my sister, her name was dedicated to Sarabi," Daemon said with a nod, yes, Ibaras, he remembered the name always, it would always be with him no matter what. "Its alright, time ahs passed since then, sometimes it nags at me but..its gotten better," he said with a smile.

No need to drown the tone between them.

"Remembering things can make you strong yes, always can, always...I'm glad I came back to."

The cub grinned as the adult agreed with him, bobbing his head happily. He tilted his head as he grinned, little tail swaying behind him.

"You have a sister too? I have lots of sisters, but sisters are boring... they make a fuss over being dirty and cry when you play too rough. They're just weird... not nearly as fun as boys." He made a face as he spoke of his sisters. He was quite vocal about how much he disliked his sisters, though it wasn't really dislike. More just annoyance. "I have brothers too.. But I don't see them very often. Mostly I explore and find friends to play with. You travel around a lot, huh? Do you have any brothers, or friends? Did you leave them behind?"

He was curious now... He couldn't imagine leaving his homeland. What would it be like to travel like this lion? See new places and meet new animals... but you'd have to leave behind everything! Friends, family, familiar places...

Daemon's ears fell back a bit when Ushu talked about his sisters, brothers, was curious to know who Daemon had left behind, if he had brothers. "I never had any brothers...and my sister...she passed away too early...as my mother did....when I left, I guess...I just left some memories behind though...now its better, I'm home."

He nodded with his words, flicked his tail and felt warm inside, "I feel like now that I'm home, that even though they're gone that, they're with me....strange to explain..." he said with a chuckle.

Sometimes he just couldn't get some things into words.

"I bet playing with you brothers, even your sisters is fun yea?"

Ushu's face fell when he heard. So, Daemon had no family, huh? That was sad... he knew he'd be very sad if he didn't have any family.

"I know what you mean..." He said, the tan cub perking a little. "Its like my grandfather. He died, but he's still here, you know? He's a star now, and he watches out for us and stuff. Mother told me about that." The cub nodded as he danced gently from paw to paw.

His face contorted as he thought about play with his siblings. "Eh... sorta, I guess. My brothers are kinda fun, but my sisters aren't really." Ushu shrugged as he gently scufed one front paw in the dirt. He knew he should feel differently about his siblings, but he couldn't help it. It was just so much more fun to explore and make new friends, rather than hang out with the old ones.

Daemon then tried to keep a smile on his maw, even though he was having some old memories swirl in his head and heart, but he would deal with them a,ways had, he didn't want to upset Ushu. It was sad to hear about his grandfather dying, but he was now a star? That was grand, to always know he was watching over him, their in case he needed to ask a question, even if he received no answer.

"Family can be like that, though meeting others different form your family is strange and odd but fun, its always nice to see and meet new faces," he said with a confirming nod and a swish of his tail.

Ushu made a face as he watched Daemon, giving an inelegant snort. Family was boring, for the most part, and even just talking about them got boring. It was easy, and expected, then, that when a stray breeze sent a pretty blue butterfly flitting by his head, Ushu was instantly distracted from the conversation.

"Hey! Look at that!" He laughed, bouncing on his paws. He jumped after the butterfly, leaping to clap his paws in the air as he tried to catch it. "Daemon, look! A butterfly! I want to catch it!" His bright laughter rolled out, and it was quite comical how fast he'd gone from serious to playfully and silly. His swishing tail invited the older lion to join in the fun, to help him catch the teasing creature that bobbed in the air just before him.

It seemed like the time for talking was past, and Ushu would most likely never mourn that fact. He'd always rather be playing than sitting around and talking. "Come on Daemon!" He shouted back over his shoulder.

Daemon chuckled to himself when Ushu seemed captivated by the butterfly, he was so tempted to walk away and leave Ushu to his fun, but Ushu invited him to join, how strange. Did Daemon looked like a butterfly catching lion? Who knew though, Daemon flicked his tail and watched Ushu jump up and try to catch it, but to no avail.

He stood up and padded after Ushu, and watched, "Butterfly catching isn't really my thing kid, you give it a go, you could catch it, I know you can." Least, thats what Daemon believed. If you put your mind to something, you could succeed if you tried hard enough. So he'd just wait and watch, and hope to butterfly didn't fly by him at all, or else Ushu might run into him.

That might sting a little.
