A young adolescent lion made her way through the desert, her paws aching with a heavy pain. It had been what seemed like ages since she'd been home, and now that she had returned from a horrible experience, it was time to meet face to face with some of her siblings.

Kiunguza came to a higher dune and then looked about in an attempt to find something looking like a red lion. Spotting a vast amount of them, she lept down with excitement. She was finally within her own lands again, away from her psychotic sister Koka. And right now, she would do anything to stop her sister from doing anymore harm. She dashed away, heading towards the red blurs in the distance. She would finally see some of her own kind.

The princess of the Firekin had returned at last.

The sand dunes seemed to glisten in the afternoon sun. She had always loved how it did- it looked like stars when the sun was right, or sheets of glass. Father wore glass beads in his mane- she’d wanted to touch them, but he’d never seemed interested in letting her.

Stretched out on top of one of the dunes, her long and obnoxiously white body soaking up the heat. What had once been the stubby body of a cub had gone through an elaborate succession of changes over the past couple of months. She was still small, for a firekin at least, but even the strange Kaanga had sleekened out. She had even become slightly muscular- her body twisted as she stretched.

But she was still Kaanga. She took life gently, even amongst all the harshness. There were strange whisperings now- and sometimes she had funny dreams which she now knew to at least be some kind of predictions. But she hadn’t changed much in personality.

She was waiting here because a dream had told her a distorted vision of a lioness coming back. She had not known it was her sister- but once she caught sight of her, the delighted Kaanga at once recollected what she had not seen in quite some while.

“Sister!” The white lioness called, her deep yellow eyes glittering.

She stood oblivious on the dune for a moment's time, before hearing the call of one of the lionesses down below. It was abnormally white, with barely any shades of red. Rolling her eyes in disgust, she looked once more and realized who it truely was.

Kiunguza kept her head high, and began marching towards Kaanga. Even though her paws ached from the long journey, she didn't want to worry her sister, so she tried to act tough. Her voice was raspy and cut up, since it had been literally months since she last was able to speak. "Hey, Kaanga. Its been a while, hasn't it, sister?" She grinned, her beaten up, scarred body was completely noticable. It stood out, even next to the white lioness.

She came around, and then found herself laying beside her sibling. It was so nice to finally ... rest, give up. It had been ages since she was able to lay beside someone she knew and loved. The only two she could hate right now were Nyekundu and Koka, for betraying her. The red lioness sighed, and shoved her face into a small mound of sand inbetween her paws. What a nightmare it had been, she now regretted ever leaving the lands in the first place that afternoon as a cub. It took away from most of her childhood, and she wanted it back.

Kaanga might have been often accused for being addle minded and dreamy, but even before her sister had spoken had her eyes widened at the sight of her sister’s disheveled body. “Oh!” She peeped for a moment and quirked her tail upwards. “You are hurt!” The white lioness uttered, even as the other princess sunk into the sand. The dream had said nothing of this- it made her confused and dismayed.

Kiunguza rested her head into the sand, which sent the smaller female into a series of scuffling motions with her paws. The wounds seemed old- but the lioness looked tired. It had been quite some time since Kaanga had last seen her sister- almost as long as she had not seen dear Koka.

“You must come back home now,” Kaanga urged. “Father and Mother worry.” A lie- but the kind Kaanga found acceptable. She honestly didn’t know if Kimeti or Karama worried or cared. But she liked to think they did.
