She was tossing and was in a daze. She wanted to fall asleep, she was so tired. Kaede had stayed up later every night, watching the sun set, hoping to see a small black figure coming her way. But no one ever came, nothing ever came. Her tail was curled about her golden form, she was wiggling and whining in her own den she had made by herself.
It was an alright den for her age, new to being alone most of the time. She had stayed away since her family since the experience with Goma. She didn't know how to tell them of her experience with the cursed lion such as herself. Ever since then, she always felt really tired, over heated. The sun was high, the middle of the day, she was inside her den, trying to keep cool. Her stomach hurt today, twisting in knots and she whimpered and cried. It was like nothing she had felt before. Worst of all:
She was alone.
"Please...make it stop please..." because of this she hadn't been able to hunt. She made trips to the puddles of water nearby. It had only been a few days but she felt horrible, all the time. She was scared and alone, and wondered if she should go looking for Goma or Ger or someone. Kaede wasn't sure how far she would get though, with the sun so high, she didn't know if she might pass out from the heat.
"Please...someone help...bring them back to me please..."
But she couldn't just stay there. Pushing herself to stand she wobbled a bit, so hot out. She pressed her ears against her head, panted a bit to try adn cool herself off. "Have to go...myself, and find them..." padding slowly out of her den she made her way towards the borders, eyes searching for any sign of life.
"I wish I had longer legs....was bigger, like Ger...then I might, go farther faster..." she went out slowly, but went out just the same. SHe would find them, find someone, she ahd to. She jsut had to.

The dust bowled over the limp body of a dark canine. Beaten and wounded, the unconscious jackal laid upon the edge of the Elephant Graveyard. Blood splattered against the surrounding skulls, mostly his, and around him. He was horribly wounded and very much out cold. A vulture or two loomed over him, poking at the motionless body lightly.
It did not move.
The body was still breathing, faintly, slowly. The body was still warm and soft. However, there was no one inside.

How far had she gone now? She panted, eyes half closed, green hues lokoing around desperately. Once or twice she had mistaken a rock for Goma, a patch of golden grass blades for Ger. She was faultering in and out of reality now. Allusions forming all around her.
Kaede was in unfamilar territory now. It smelled strange, something she didn't like. The smell stuck to her nose, she tried to focus. She had to find them, either of them, find someone she knew. She forced herself to keep going. What was this place? She did not remember visiting such a gloomy place before in her life.
But something told her to go farther, just a bit farther.
She saw something in the distance, vague images, vague beings. An ache in her heart, she hoped this time it was not an allusion,s he stopped, held her breath, feeling sick again. She swallowed, a lump in her throat, a strange taste but she pressed forward towards the thing.
She seemed to be in atrance, vultures were they? She growled, then stood firmly and made her strange roaring noise at them. They seemed to have given her a strange look. Oh well, they flew away. Something laying there, she went closer, adns he approached, blood touched her gentle paws. She winced and looked down, eyes growing wide, tears in her eyes.
"Goma?"
Had the gods done this to him? Why would they do this, why? She whimpered and pressed his side gently, he was hurt, hurt so badly. "Goma...wake up...please wake up, please," she forgot to use his full name, but now she didn't care. She starting shaking, tears falling from her eyes, staining and streaking down her face.
"Please..." still nothing, he seemed to be breathing, she lay next to him. She was so small compared to him, she lay her head on his neck, tears still falling, "What have they done to you? Please, please wake up Goma...d-don't leave me alone please...
come back to me."

Goma lied their motionless, his mind swirling around in itself. The images of the past, Jamaa's smiling face faded into nothing. Yakuti's playful growl as he batted at Goma when they played silenced. Topas's earthy scent when they dug was gone. Everything was fading. Then there was her face, now what was her name...oh yeah, Kaede. That was her name. It smiled and then turned away, fading.
Goma's body remained motionless, his side heaving very, very faintly. He was still alive, but....he was not alright.

The golden jackal bit her lip to keep herself from becoming hysterical. He wasn't moving, her tail curled around herself, she lowered herself to the ground, curled up close next to him. Licked his head gently, his face, his cheek. Still nothing. Tears still fell, draining her of what she had left in ehr body to keep her going. SHe was growing tired, eyes half clsoed from exhaustion and tears.
"Please...Goma please...don't leave me...you're a lion like me...why did they do this to you? They were supposed to give you back your body, you said we'd be together, that I'd be your queen...please Goma please..."
Kaede looked around, didn't see anyone. But it would not be safe here, others might be here, rogue lions, hyenas, even the gods that had done this to him. She shuffled next to him, moved under him gently, she could feel his shallow breath. She had to act quickly. Moving herself she draped him on her back.
It hurt, but she paid no mind. She felt like she was going to pass out, "I-it'll be alright...I'll get you back...home..." she tried taking a few steps, it was hard, she got a bit further, almost falling forward once or twice, they were closer now. Almost at the border of the pridelands, her body couldn't take the weight anymore.
Falling forward, Goma upon her back she whimpered, it hurt, she had to wriggle herself free from his weight. She cried again, seeing if Goma was alright, laying next to him, she felt so tired. "I'll take care of you..."

"Uh...."
He murred, his paw twitching a bit. His body....it hurt so bad. Thousands of arrow heads piercing his body. Falling into a pile of cacti. Burning in the sun without movement. It just hurt like nothing he had felt before. Then suddenly, a sharp jolt of pain shot up his spin and a ping in his head sent him up into a sitting position.
"Ow!"
Goma shouted. He quickly put a paw onto the spot and looked around. Where was he? What was he? How did he get here? He looked around the savanna seeing nothing but grasslands. Strange, he has never been here before.... Then his eyes fell over to a crying female.
"....Who are you?"

Kaede was just about to give up on everything, just try to fall asleep. But then Goma seemed to stir, tears still flowing from her eyes, a smile was beginning to appear on hew maw, "Goma?!" she shuffled on the ground so that she lay in front of him rather then his side.
But he...had forgotten her name? With what had happened, she didn't much care at this point, he was alive, thats what mattered, "I'm Kaede, remember?" she tilted her head at him adn smiled, wondering how he felt overall.
"How do you feel, are you alright? I was so worried...what have they done to you Goma, what can I do?"

"Whoa slow down...um...Kaede, who's they?"
Apparently, his name was Goma, her name being Kaede. Strange, strange names. But who was this female? Oddly, she looks familiar, but he does not know her. He tilted his head and sort of shook his head of confusion.
"My name's...Goma? Kinda short...where are we? How did I get here? And who exactly are you, Kaede?"
He pondered what was going on. He could not seem to recall much. He remembered that he was from far away and that creatures with two legs made him sad. It was hard to remember. A pain hit his head again.
"Ow..."
He looked at her, a bit saddened.
"...Who...am I?"

She blinked, he really couldn't remember? The gods were cruel then, to do this to him. Surely he did not deserve this, not at all. He stayed with ehr, even for a short while, he made her feel like she wasn't alone, that someone cared. How could he not remember?
"You are Homu Goma'ota, Lord Homu Goma'ota," she said with a nod and a bow, "You're a lion like me, but the gods cursed you and made you how you are, but you are the strongest adn smartest lion ever. Hardest one to ever catch," Kaede said with another nod, trying to remember every exact word Goma had told her before.
"You said...you said the gods must've been jealous of me, to make me how I am, not a lioness at all really in appearance, we are like eachother. I helped you, so that the gods might give you back your superior body and mane."
Her ears perked up, and she tried to remember what else...what else was there? "You are of royal blood, said that you would show the gods you could show passion towards another, with nothing in return...and you did...with me," she turned her gaze away for a moment and blushed. She remembered that part, all too well actually.
"I-I waited for you to come back Goma, I was so worried and..." she closed her eyes and her ears folded back. SHe lowered herself to teh ground, her stomach ached again, twisted into knots. It hurt, but she tried to push it from her mind and she crawled closer to Goma and nuzzled under his chin, "I thought that....I lost you before..."

Wow...that was a lot of things for one to be. A lion turned into a jackal? What could he have done to possibly make the gods so jealous? A mortal making gods jealous seemed a bit...far fetched. He looked at her, nodding whenever she stopped. However, when she touched him then, nuzzling him. It seemed as if she cared for him...a lot.
"Kaede....how could I believe you? I hardly even know you. How do I know who you say you are, who I am? How much of this is true? Do you have any proof at all?"
He asked, talking while she laid under him. Then there was that one part that really confused him. "show passion towards another, with nothing in return...and you did...with me" ....what did she mean? It was just so confusing. She would know!
"Kaede...what do you mean by showing you passion and nothing in return? Do you really love me like you say you do? Kaede....I'm just so...lost."
His voice cracked a bit, he was whimpering.

Kaede pulled back from Goma and looked at him, shocked he couldn't remember anything. Then...then he didn't believe her. She scooched back from him a bit and curled up a bit, panted, eyes almost closed all the way. She felt like the sun was on her forehead, what was happening to her?
"You...you came nad tripped over me...and..." she shook her head, she tried to stand up to go next to him again, but qcuikly laid back down again. She felt dizzy when she stood. "I-I know what I am...you said you were like me that...that you understood..."
Kaede felt sick to her stomach again, whimpered and put a paw on her stomach, trying to ease the pain. "I don't know how to prove it to you..." tears were falling from her eyes even heavier then before. He didn't remember her at all, he didn't remember anything. Nothing, not her, not what she did for him to help him, nothing.
"You-you said that if I helped you, p-prove to the gods you could show compassion, p-passion towards another...that they...they might make you back into what you were I..." with his questions if she loved him. She was confused, from being hot and confused, she was young, didn't know the exact meaning behind the word, but nodded her head.
She felt safe, and wanted when she had been with him, like she mattered to someone. That she could do some good. "I-I do love you...Goma, I..." she was speaking in between sobs, not knowing how to show him she spoke the truth, how to prove anything to him.
She felt so sick to her stomach, she lay on her side, eyes now slits just watching him, why did she feel like this?

Goma softened to her. Her voice was strong, caring, and at the same time disheartened when he said he could not believe her. The way she spoke then made it hard for him not to believe her. She loved him, that was the key to anything.
He smiled and lied down beside her, pulling her closer.
"So I was a lion? Royal blood you say? That sounds interesting indeed. I can see why the Gods would be jealous if I have you to love. Anyone would be. You proved that what you said was true because you cared about me. And that was all I needed to believe you, Kaede."
He smirked and narrowed his eyes. A glimpse of the old Goma still lingered.
"So...what exactly did we do?"
He chuckled a bit and looked down at his paws. "By the way, my name is too long, just call me Goma."

Kaede felt something warm next to her, something that felt like the Goma she was with the night before he had left. She sighed in content, but she was still so hot, everything seemed lighter, so she closed her eyes and merely listened to his voice.
"Yes, royal, I can see...a strength of a royal in your eyes Goma..." she blushed and shifted closer to him, "Perhaps, I'm jsut glad...they let you alone...let you, come back to me..."
She smiled faintly when he asked what they did, she was a bit embarrassed to say outloud so she leaned her head up to whisper it in his ear, then she lay her head back down again, feeling dizzy from the movement.
What they did together was something she had never known about, so it was (what she thought) normal to be embarrassed to speak it outloud. "I'm sorry I coulnd't find you sooner...I waited for you..."
She winced and panted and squirmed a bit, "Goma...why is it...so hot...so so hot..."

He quirked a brow and nuzzled her.
"I guess the Gods would not give me my lion body back and instead gave me my life so I could return to you. And instead of your body, they gave you me instead. I think that is fair, don't you?"
Goma chuckled when she reached up to him and spoke to him. His eyes grew wide when she spoke, his ears stiffed and back straight. No...did he? How could he? It was before he met her, well to that moment. But they must've if what she said about passion was true. He had....
The male's head jerked to her confused and lost as ever. If she was ill, hot....those were clear signs of....
"Kaede...think you may be...."
He knew the signs for some reason. He remembered females panting and whining as they lounged around in the shade in his memories. He had seen this before. This was his fault.
"Kaede...you may be pregnant...."

She nodded slowly, then rested her head under his, opening her eyes somewhat, gazing out at the distance. How much farther would they have to go before they got home? "Yes, I think, it was fair... now I'm not alone...I won't, be alone anymore..."
Kaede breathed deep, her body was so hot, she had to get out of the sun soon, get some water, do something to cool herself down. Goma began to speak then stopped, what was he trying to say?
Then he said it...
Her eyes shot open and she craned her neck to look up at him, tears weren't flowing anymore, just a few caught at the corners of her eyes, "B-but...do you think..." she was afraid. Was what they did...was that, was that how females got pregnant and would have cubs?
Kaede started to shake lightly, she didn't know if it was true or not. She just thought it was the heat, but, what if he was right, what if she was...pregnant? What would her family say, Ger say, anyone say? She was scared now, she wasn't sure what to expect anymore.
"What do I do Goma?" it was a question of anything, she didn't know what to do if she was pregnant, she was new to this. Goma, Goma was the only one she had done something like that with. She was scared of what might happen to her.
