question about these things, is it true that the pill can lower the days of your period? My friend said she went from 5 to 3 days on the pill
Yes, it can.
I asked my mom about it, cause my friend said it also helped reduce her cramps, and I get killer ones, my mom thought it was just an excuse to be put on it so I can have sex..... I'm not sexually active, it took my bf nearly 3 years to kiss me with tounge, it took us a year to even hug!!!
Then educate your mama!
xd Many girls go on the pill to reduce cramps and the length of their period. My mother and I both stayed on Depo one year after we got out of relationship (not the same relationship of course
xp ). So, we both stayed on it for one year where we using it only as a way to get rid of our period, not as a form of birth control.
" What are the advantages to women using Seasonale®?
* Fewer periods.
* Lighter periods with less blood flow."

http://ap.lancasteronline.com/4/no_more_periods_products"There is also a type of combination pill that decreases the frequency of a woman's period by supplying a hormone pill for 12 weeks and then inactive pills for 7 days. This decreases the number of periods to one every 3 months instead of one every month.
Another kind of pill that also decreases the number of monthly periods is the low-dose progesterone pill, sometimes called the mini-pill."
http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/contraception/contraception_birth.htmlThis is just what I found in about two minutes doing a quick goodsearch (www.goodsearch.com). You could do the same if you want more information. I typed in "birth control period." It looks like that last site might explain it all the best if you want a broader overview of how it all works.
Basically, we have pills that may shorten the monthly period a little, make it regular, and lessen cramping. Newer pills have come out that reduce your period from once every month to once every three months, and they are talking about pills now that will get rid of your period altogether (many women use birth control pills to eliminate their period now, but they are often using them not quite as they were intended to be used, although doctors seem to think their alteration is safe). Just be aware that there are side effects to hormonal birth controls, they are not 100% effective against pregnancy, and they do not protect against STDs (for future reference). If you really want birth control, and your mother won't take you, you can always look into a Family Planning or Planned Parenthood. If she is willing to consider the idea, maybe you could both go to the doctor together so that the doctor can tell her that many girls really do use it for that reason.
