Personally, I think it's because they're in denial.

Because they choose to not eat meat, they each have their own personal reasons. Some just don't like the taste of meat, some do it for moral reasons, and some do it for health reasons. It depends on the person.

Jaft Eh? Can you elaborate? The whole being a vegan thing or what? That's just the outer limit. I do not get the refusal to eat animals. At all.

It depends on the person. Why is refusing to eat meat altogether seen as healthy? What possible moral justification could you have for not eating meat?

Ascott Jaft Eh? Can you elaborate? The whole being a vegan thing or what? That's just the outer limit. I do not get the refusal to eat animals. At all. Well, with my vegetarian friends, it's a moral thing. They don't find it right that we kill animals that are almost completely defenseless against our hunting methods.

My girlfriend doesn't like the fact that animals get killed. Actually I think it's more how they get killed. She told me she became vegetarian after watching a video called "Meet your Meat."

*shrugs* There can be a number of reasons, and these reasons create varying types of vegitarians.
1. LACTO VEGETARIANS They eat no flesh of any kind. Their diet consists of fruit and vegetables and dairy products(vegetarian cheese only)
2. LACTO-OVO-VEGETARIANS They eat the same as the lacto vegetarians but also include eggs in their diet.
3. VEGANS They eat only plant food. They eat no flesh, no eggs and no dairy products. Some will eat honey but not others.
4. FRUITARIANS They eat only fruits, nuts and seeds.(This includes the fruit of vegetables such as tomatoes. However, they never eat the roots of plants such as carrots and potatoes)
See?
Some people have an affinity for the animals (it's the same reason many people are apalled by the thought of eating dogs), some people do it for health, etc.

Some people don't take life in any and all forms. Peanuts for protein!

What possible moral justification could you have for not eating meat? There actually are SOME health benefits to not eating meat, I don't remember what they are but there are some. The moral thing stands from the idea of killing "innocent" animals just so we can eat them. It also has to do with how animals are killed I believe anyway.

Well, with my vegetarian friends, it's a moral thing. They don't find it right that we kill animals that are almost completely defenseless against our hunting methods. That's a result of thousands of years of evolution. We are currently at the top of the food chain. We've won. Do you think they'd find it more acceptable if we were to hunt them with spears and arrows? Because I'm all in favour of that.

Indigo Project Ascott What possible moral justification could you have for not eating meat? You can find answers here. I can find badly animated propaganda I've had shoved down my throat before, but very little in the way of answers. Where does this assumption that we have to treat animals like people come from?
