The bible says, "do not worship other gos before me"... does this mean that there are no other gods? No. Does this mean i can worship other gods as an equal to god? No. But does it mean i can worship other gods? Maybe....

No, you cannot. Worshipping any other Go is idol worship and against God's Commands. We are to worship him and him alone.

That is a really good question! I think he's saying don't put other things infront of me. like, don't let you your social life come in the way of you worshiping him, or don't skip going to church because you'll miss your favorite show. I don't think there are other gods, officially, besides those we create (ie the examples above)

Hey, there are no other real gods, just fake ones. People might worship a god, but it won't answer our prayers, and we won't feel him/her sprirtually. No god is as real and loving as our God!!! wink
|

The Bible says in Hebrew: Shema Yisrael Adonai Elohanu Adonai Echad.... Hear O Israel the LORD your G-d the LORD He is One.
That means there is but one G-d. The LORD Himself even says that He is the Only G-d:
for you shall worship no other g-d, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous G-d. Exodus 34:14
"You are My witnesses," says the LORD,
"And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no G-d formed,
Nor shall there be after Me. Isaiah 43:10
"Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
'I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no G-d. Isaiah 44:6

Because the Lord is the creater of all, if there were any other gods He would have had to create them. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention the creation of lesser deities, and why would He tell us not to beleive in them if He created them? There are no other real deities; only what we, as mortals, plcae before God.
For instance, if I chose to put my books before God I would be worshipping them. Does this mean that my books are gods? No. It just means I need to get my priorities straight.

Hey Famu, I got a question for you (since you know hebrew). In my travels here on Gaia I was in a thread about Christian wicca and the following post was made about polytheistic Christianity... TeaDidikai et's start with 1Kings 11. The OT acknoweldges Ashtoreth as deity by calling her Ashtoreth Elohiym. Also note that in 1Kings 11:2 it speaks of the deities again as Elohiym. Now- for those who say that this denotes false gods, you have to take into account that Gen 1:1 uses the word Elohiym as the deity of creation. I was a little confused, and have wondered about this. Can you shed any light on this?

Demons have wormed their way into existence and have made themselves into 'gods'. God created the demons, although they were not demons when he created them. The most probable thing is that they were angels that followed Satan in the fall.

Another example is the story of Jonah, G-d caused a fish to swallow Jonah. After the fish spit him up on dry land Jonah went and preached to the Ninevites to repent to the Only True G-d... interesting is that the Ninevites worshipped Dagon who was the fish deity wink once again proving that G-d is G-d and all others are false.

there is only 1 God, when they ssay dont worshp other gods, it means don't worship idles and such. like, dont go and worship this basketball player beause he is really good etc.
