Why, pray tell, do so many newbies get into Inuyasha? Is it because everyone else likes it? Is it because the plot line is simple and understandable with enouch romance and action-fantasy molded into one? Because seriously, people, why in the heck does this happen? The story line, no matter what season, is as follows:

1. The world is in danger, he has to save it.
2. he gets into trouble, meets some "mysterious" characters
3. He has problems with some girl loving him.
4. He somehow saves the world, the end.

God, someone answer me. And JAmes, that is NOT using the Lord's name in vain.

BTW, I know that this is in the wrong forum - clicked the wrong thing and then realized it too late. Please to be excused!

I dont know where else you think this thread could go O_O
the living room maybe but thats about it.

as for an answer, i think lotsa n00bs like Inuyasha cuz its just soooo popular and practically SPAMMED throughout the anime underworld. they go to their first convention, and see zillions of inuyasha cosplays. they turn on adult swim and its ALWAYS gonna have Inuyasha in it. So . maybe they think "maybe if I like Inuyasha, the Rest of the Otaku will like ME and i may be accepted into this strange strange subculture! 4laugh "

cuz otaku are timid at first for the most part. strange little irklings that need pruning and a smack upside the head to grow. thus, tey turn to the mainstream :XP:

Yes, of course Inuyahsa isn't interesting. I still don't understand why people like it so much.

What's wrong with Inuyasha? o.O

At least it's not Get Backers or some odd Dragon Ball series >.>

Get Backers (Note that I am basing this on the first DVD... I cannot see what James sees in this... Well... Naruto is better...)
-----
- Powers of characters are overpowered, uninteresting, side effects of certain powers are merely a distraction and are not a problem to the characters
- Has some sort of castrated eccentric Queer-Eye-wannabe mutant for one of the main characters (leads to next item)
- Every young male youth seems to have been given the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy treatment with some French fashion director...
- Cliche, no creativity, doesn't bring ANYTHING new to the scifi-fantasy genre
- Horrible INTRODUCTION/ENDING MUSIC (see next item)
- Abuse of sound effects, especially echos (see next item)
- Sound effects cover up and make it hard to hear the voices of both the Japanese and English dub
- Wardrobe of the cast isn't so creative... All looks, no substance
- One of the villans is overly cliche in nature, which kills his cool "superpower". He keeps sharp objects hidden inside his body, which is interesting... sadly... His signature kill is just... Stupid and cliche...
- You don't get to see any of the gore... It's like 4KIDS got out their censorship card for this one
- Supposedly funny jokes weren't that funny... Lots of bad timing
- Characters are stupid overall
- Contains a nitro-powered BMW Beetle... They shoulda made it a Pinto... BMW Beetles are just... Uncool...
- A character that uses perfume(s) as a weapon
- Suffers from total "Bad Execution" and a poor storyline

Dragon Ball [Z/GT] (can't criticize the first series because I haven't seen it)
-----
- Suckage, but not as bad as Get Backers
- Possible side effects include: Seizures, amnesia, brain damage, coma, multiple heart attacks, rejection of religion, depression, diarrhea, death, foaming of the mouth, intestinal gas, immaturity, hentai (in combination with Sailor Moon), and/or effects not stated above.
- I would gladly watch DBZ/GT after watching Get Backers just to wipe my mind of those horrible moments >.<

Inuyasha isn't the worse. Believe me... I almost killed myself when seeing an episode of Kodocha... But Kodocha is better than DBZ, which is better than Get Backers. Naruto is somewhat decent to me... Not that decent... But decent.

I kinda liked Inuyasha. They actually made it better even though the plot did follow somewhat rigid story cycles. It is kinda slow in plot unfolding department, but they try to keep a balanced approach.

The first several episodes of Inuyasha are much better than the first disk of Get Backers.

More junk...
...
- Gungrave
- Ninja Scroll the TV series
- Pokemon (Digimon is cool with me... I switch somewhere during my freshie year)
- Sonic X
- Gundam (blah... That movie I saw kinda killed it for me... the mechs are too... clean looking...)

I used to be the "saturday morning" type of person... Now I'm the "saturday afternoon Cartoon Network" and "saturday night WITH [adult swim]" type of person >.>

Someone needs to get Paranoia Agent and show the episode Happy Family Planning... That episode is just too amusing V(n.n)V

I'll simply say this. Inuyasha is kinda like how pokemon, dbz, or gundam was for us. Anime is kinda hard to find on tv, so if all they can get is the stuff shown on toonami, they tend to like it because they havent really seen what else is out there. Inuyasha is main stream, so its always gonna have a large fan base; its just something we have to deal with (I never got into inu).

@Shaun: Why do we have to bash my anime sweatdrop As long as I enjoy the anime, I dont care what the production quality is like...to an extent.

Yeah... You kinda ranted at me about this at starbucks... *shrug* Inuyasha's just predictable, and never ending. But then again, so is Bleach and Naruto, and none of them will ever stop. Newbies, why don't you indulge yourself in the complicated politics of say Gundam Wing, like I did as a child. Watching political parties form, change, and take control is SO much more fun than any hack and slash anime smile The John has spoken.

There should be a law preventing TV shows from growing over 60 episodes @.@

It's probably a phase... You're planted in cow poop, then you grow out of it like a budding flower/weed/tree/bush/poisonous plant... Rooted in crap. We watch childish things because our parents don't approve of it, then we (and sometimes our parents) grow out of it and move to the next level and expand our horizons.

Inuyasha = Potatos. I shall try to find some weird way to explain that later >.>;

Gundam is boring... I don't like plastic toys infused with the power of politics. Violence, sex, interesting concepts, girly things, or comedy... Politics usually makes things boring >.>

How exactly does Inuyasha = potatoes? confused

True. But I hate the conformity of it all. Gundam is not plastic!
