She snorted. It was oddly familiar, she mused, ruefully, watching the bee buzz away. Last time she'd been stung, she'd met...
Safi.
An attractive fellow, to say the least. And a good hand with Yue. He was adult enough to know how to deal with the child, and be good for serious conversation, with enough of a childlike side to get along well with both Selene and her daughter. For all that a birdbrain he was.
She laughed softly. The gentle insults that passed between them were all in good jest, and they both knew it. For all that she was developing a mild interest in the stallion (not that she would EVER admit it, mind), the forefront of it all was that he was something she'd never experienced before.
A real, live, genuine friend. No unterior motives, not forced together by place of residence.

"Well well well, if it isn't a case of deja vu...again! What is it about bees that keeps bringing us together?" Grinning from ear to ear, Safi strolled down the gentle incline to the place where Selene was standing, the light drone of buzzing bees providing what basically amounted to a soundtrack playing on in the background. "And furthermore, why haven't you learned to avoid them yet?"
He hadn't been expecting to run into anyone today, seeing as how he'd only been going for a random meander. Still, there was no mistaking that blue mane and starry coat, and he was more than happy to deal with a change of plans. Besides, it wasn't like being around Selene was a hardship, on any level. "But seriously, it's good to see you again, Selly." Giving her a wink as he used her (gasp) nickname, he leaned over and gave her a light nuzzle. "And how are you doing?"

"Birds and the bees." she gave a mock gasp and winked. "they go together! How are you doing today, Safi?" she nuzzled him back, welcoming. "As for avoiding them, why would I do that? Every time I get stung, you come to the rescue! It's like a charm to call you to my side!"
She stretched out, snorting. Her poor nose was swelling a bit. "How annoying." she mourned. "I'm lumpy."

"So, are you now insinuating that I'm a bird? I'll have you know that just because I have feathers I'm not a bird, you silly girl. And how am I rescuing you if I always show up AFTER you get stung?" Eyeing the growing sting lump on her nose, he snorted, glancing in the direction he assumed said bee assailant had gone. "And I'm certainly not going to go hunt down a bee just to avenge you; revenge is for people with nothing better to do with their time, which I assure you is not the case with me."
Still, he could appreciate the humor involved; indeed, how could he not when their whole relationship revolved around it? That was one of the things he liked about Selene; she knew exactly what angle to expect what he said to come from...but not so much that she always beat him to the punch.
Glancing around, he took note of the fact that she seemed to be alone; no Yue again today. Tsking, he brought his attention back to Selene, specifically her nose. "There'll be no help for that; looks like you're going to have to adjust to being lumpy for a bit! At least you'll carry the look with grace and dignity, if that's any consolation." And hopefully it would be, since it wasn't like she could do anything about it. "If I were the vain type, I'd think that you out lounging among the bees was meant to magically draw me out of hiding; however, since I am NOT the vain type, I assume there's actually a reason you're out here. Mother's day off again?"

She gasped. "You mean you aren't? Odd.... I figured your brains were the same size and everything." she peered in his ear, as if trying to see. "And why not?!" she harrumphed, as if wounded. "You mean my lumpy nose isn't worth the hunting and decimating of one bee by a fearsome, strong warrior like you? It would take an extra 5 minutes of your time, to defend and avenge an innocent maiden who has done nothing wrong."
She batted her eyes flirtatiously.
"And I suppose it is a bit of consolation." she mused. Too bad she had to cross her eyes to see her nose... it made her look quite silly, really. "And how did you know that was my plot!" she glanced around nervously. "Trying to draw you out of hiding!"
As for mother's day off? It was. Oh, but it was. She and Yue had improved a bit since the last interaction she had engaged in with the stallion, indeed. But even so, mother and daughter needed time apart for sure.

"It's not nice to call people birbrains, Selly; especially if you then want them to go off and risk lifeand limb on a foolish mission of revenge. Besides, you're the type who unquestionably would have deliberately provoked said bee, and until I have a written statement signed by both you and the bee, I'm not doing diddly."
With that, Safi punctuated his comment with an emphatic shake of his head, though as usual there was a complete and utter lack of the seriousness of expression that his words should have called for. Of course, that was assuming that they hadn't been ridiculous to begin with!
However, he was in a good mood, and that translated directly into silliness. "Well, plot or not, I'm here now, though I disagree that I was hiding. I never hide; besides that, where could a stallion that looked like me hide?" Spreading his wings, he drew her attention to his slightly unatural color scheme; truly, it could be said that he stuck out like a sore thumb almost everywhere! "So, what have you been up to lately?"

She snorted. "And how am I supposed to write, you silly horse?" she asked, and nipped fondly at his ear. "And anyways, knowing bees, that one would manage to get out on some silly legality, such as me trying to, you know, eat his home." she glanced at him sideways, almost guiltily.
And unnatural? Say that to someone who wasn't midnight blue, cyan, and sparkly.
"I don't know. You'd blend in with that sandbar over there pretty well." Though, based on the fact that there were no sandbars anywhere in sight, it would be safe to say that she was colorblind as well as delusional.

Dodging away from Selene's nipping with a laugh, Safi once again stuck out his tongue at her. "I'd say it would be a fair draw regardless, so you're better off cutting your losses and sticking with your lump. Consider it a souvenier. And by the way, sandbars only exist in bodies of water."
Ruffling her mane, Safi made a great show of looking around for more bees. Spying none, he gave Selene a wink. "Well, if it makes you feel any safer, there aren't any more of the winged assailants around. At least, not for now. Still, it might be safer for you to run while you have the chance!"

Sha laughed. "You telling me to get lost, handsome?" she clucked. "Shame." she glances around, looking imperious, but the twitch of delicate ears told him clearly she was double-checking his decree of no winged assailants.

"Handsome, eh? Are you trying to flatter my shameless ego with your fine words so that I relent and pursue your assailant? Well, fie on you, woman; I happen to be immune to such flattery!" Laughing, Safi made a great show of looking prim; after all, if anyone was going to coerce anyone into doing anything, he'd be the coercer, not the coercee! Even though he knew that she wasn't serious, he couldn't let such an opportunity slide.
"And I think you're simply prejudicial against lumps. That one is so cute on you, I can't think of why you wouldn't want to enjoy it as much as possible. Don't you like character?"
Flicking back his wings, the stallion strolled a few steps off, continuing his sweep of the area before suddenly turning back and looking at her. "You know what? We should do something!" He wasn't exactly sure what, but it always seemed like conversations ruled out activity. And he was in the mood for activity of some sort, that he was.

She nodded. Ignored the fact her defacing, horrid lump had been called -cute-. "Well, what did you have in mind?" She pranced about in a circle, flapping her wings. "How about a race?"

Making a mournful face, Safi attempted to look at Selene like a wounded foal. He did happen to suck at races, but that was a fact of life he'd long since accepted. Some guys had it, some guys didn't! "Unless you're the type of mare who likes the knowledge she kicked a poor guy to the curb." xd

She smirked. A very vicious smirk. "Well, if you got it, you got it. Now come on, sexy. Let me kick your butt." she nipped at his ear and trotted off, springing into the air. "Or, we can go have a romantic tryst by the waterfall." she waggled her brows at him. "Nice ad secluded, and almost as pretty as me."

Meeping as he was nipped, Safi made a great show of rubbing at his ear as he followed Selene. "You're such a vindictive mare, did you know that? I've never been bitten at as many times in one short interview as I have just now!"
He found himself completely losing his cool at the second part of her statement, the words and eyebrow waggle in tandem enough to make him utterly crack up. "You'd probably get more enjoyment out of kicking my butt in a race, Selly; I've been told I'm a horrible tryster. Besides, what good is a waterfall that's only almost as pretty as you? I've got high expectations, after all." Winking at her, he made a great show of stretching out, first to the right, then to the left. "And just for the record, it's cruel to torment and compliement at the same time. Sends too much of a mixed message!"
