The moon hung low over the grassy lands, the night considerably warmer than most. With the warmth in the air, it was quite easy to sleep longer than the usual. At least, it was for Gouta. The young, yet fully grown adult rested next his usual tree.

Slowly, stirring, a golden eye opened peering blankly into the darkness. Without even lifting his head he grumbled to himself.

Not again... He thought. It had become a habit for the male to sleep through an entire day. This had been going for quite a few days now.

With a yawn, he sat up. "Another day without sunshine." He whispered.

Yes, the night was perfect for sleep.. if one could. Isimangaliso was way to curious to sleep tonight. He wanted to explore this new place he'd stumbled upon. Sure, he had spent an entire day running to this place, but there was water near by, and shade. He stopped a good ways from the trees and stood still, his brown fur blending in with the grass int he moonlight, his yellow eyes gleaming as he opened his mouth to take in more scent than he could with his nose.

There was someone else here. It smelled like a male, but he wasn't so sure. One couldn't be sure if one was tired and parched. Slowly, silently, the brown spotted leopard crawled passed the trees, his ears open for noises. He heard someone's voice and crouched low to the ground, his chin touching dirt beneath the grass. Okay, it was a male.

"Just great," he whispered softly. He looked around. There was really no cover, if he was right about where the male was placed. Looking about, his eyes caught the sight of a male lion beneath the tree and blinked and then started a bit slower, listening to the very soft rustling of the grass beneath his paws.

"What do I do?" he murmured to himself. He looked out and sighed. He smelt water, but he didn't see it. Where was it? Either, possibly, fight a lion over water, or just get on with his life and turn back to take a longer way around to water. He was tired and thirsty and he needed something to eat. And Isi knew where there was water, there was prey. "...Chance it." He sprinted past the trees, darting like a scared rabbit and turned hard right, his body sliding left as he looked at the lion.

Gouta had already smelled the leopard right when he had woken up. The other cat posed no threat to him, perhaps only someone to play with. Gouta was not the type to get into fights, he was more of the type that would rather play.

Watching the leopard pass by him, he let out a soft, yet playful, growl. "Where yah goin'?!" Gouta yelled towards the leopard, leaping to his paws. Stumbling after him, managed a pounce, aiming to grab the leopard's large tail.

With a chuckle, Gouta looked down at the leopard. "Wanna play?"

There weren't many animals that passed while Gouta was awake. At night it was hard to find playmates, this was one of the few chances the lion had.

The leopard roared in surprise as his tail was grazed with a paw and he took off again. Then, he blinked, realizing what the lion had said and he skid to a stop again, ears flat against his head, yellow eyes peering at him hard and his tail thrashing aggrievedly behind him. Play? Why did this full grown male lion want to play with a leopard?

"....." He shook his head and walked around in a circle, making sure his back wasn't to the officially odd male. "Play?" he mimicked, shaking his head once more and pulling his lips up in a snarl.

"Play? You mean eat. You want to eat me, don't you?" He backed away, his fur bristling on end as before he crouched low, preparing to attack if need be. In his mind set, all lions wanted one or two things: To start their own pride, or to eat smaller animals. Was this the way the lion hunted? Lured others into 'playing' and then pouncing? He'd pounce first, or run. He wasn't about to die by the hands of him.

"Lions... Think you're king.." he spat and hissed, growling low as he continued to crouch, hoping the lion would lose track of him in the tall grass.

"Huh?" Gouta laid his ears back, and shrunk into a sitting position. "I think you have the wrong idea about me. I don't want to eat you, silly!" Gouta formed a smile on his lips. "That's the last thing on my mind."

With his gold colored eyes following the leopard, he failed to loose track of him. "You seem like you're looking for something?" He asked, cocking his head to the side in question. "I could help if you want! I promise not to eat you."

Taking two steps forward with his large paws he slowly walked closer to the leopard, hoping not to scare him too much. "I promise. You'll eat me before I'll ever eat you."

He crouched lower to the ground, his teeth no longer bared, but his ears still back. Should he really trust such a lion? He seemed earnest enough, and to be telling the truth. So, he sat up, straight, alert, in case this was some ploy. "Leopards don't eat lions. We eat monkeys, rats, rabbits.. other small animals," he murmured, eyes watching him closely.

His thick tail thrashed behind him and this leopard of few spots curled it around his paws, letting the tip rest on the left paw. "I'm hungry and thirsty. I was on my way to drink before I smelt you. I've been traveling all day. I was hoping to rest, too."

"Even if you say you don't eat lions, there's still the chance you can kill me." Gouta said with a smirk. "Not that I want you to kill me, 'cause that'd be horrible if you did!"

Gouta's ears perked, listening to the leopard's short story. "I can help you, if you want! Just say 'yes' and I'm yours!" With a slight prance he leapt over to the leopard who seemed much smaller than Gouta in comparison.

Isi blinked at the lion's apparent disregaurd for anything he'd just said. Lions were an odd sort, that much was for certain. Or this one was, anyway. But, he -was- going to need this one's help. "Alright. You can help me. Go get us something big to eat while I look about." He was a naturally curious leopard, that much was certain. With a flick of his thick tail, he set off towards the smell of water, leaving the lion alone to do hunting.

'Say 'yes' and I'm yours?' he was mulling over that. Now that was a very queer thing for the lion to say. It made him sound like he liked the male persuasion. Or maybe he didn't care? With a shrug of his shoulders, he swiveled in and out of the tall grasses, sniffing about, finding a cricket or two along the way and chewing on them.

"Something big to eat?" Gouta repeated, with an awkward look on his face. As the leopard walked away from him, Gouta just stood there, almost as if he were confused. This large lion was quite the odd one. He didn't like killing other creatures, so usually he just ate the leftovers that other animals had already killed. "Do I really have to do this?" Gouta muttered quietly to himself.

While walking in almost the opposite direction as the leopard, he plotted how he would stalk some prey. Normally this was the female's job, but he wasn't a part of a pride. Thinking back, the last bit of fresh meat he had was when his mother was still around.

"Something big..." Gouta whispered, looking for the shadowy silouette's of potential prey.

The leopard continued to chew on crickets as he sniffed for the water. He actually stepped in a deep puddle and shook his foot off rapidly, growling before turning about and sniffing at it, smirking. He leaned down and took a long, slow drink from the puddle, letting it sooth his parched throat. He culd relax now that he wasn't near that lion. Maybe he could find a monkey to eat or something near by. A nice monkey would be great to eat.

So, he opened his mouth and let scents rush over the soft pallete at the top and he smirked, a monkey was close. He looked around to find it, crouching low to the ground, he spotted another tree with fruit in it. That's where the monkey would be. And sure enough, golden eyes spotted the brown critter. What it was doing way out here, Isimangaliso didn't care. He was to hungry.

Slinking slowly, he made his way to the tree and right under the monkey before pouncing upwards while it was destracted eating, and grabbed his torso with claws and drug it down to the ground. The monkey let out an ear shattering scream and began to make wild noises and thrash about, only having Isi's claws digging deeper into it before his jaws closed around the stupid thing's neck and held on tight, pinning it to the ground and held it there for several long moments. Yes, Isi would eat this monkey and be happy. Then after a nap, he'd get the heck out of here.
