(I'm typing this very quickly as I watch the episode, sorry for any spelling mistakes.)
Stuff you may wish to discuss:
-The interesting/weird perspective at the beginning -Why was Torchwood investigating a hit and run case? -The total lack of anyone other than Gwen (Resulting in the lack of Ianto/Jack Action) -Are we finding out if there is a close connection between Gywneth and Gwen? She can hear Eugene even though he's dead. If my memory serves me well, that's kind of what Gywneth could do. -Little Chef aka Happy Cook
Obviously you can discuss other things as well, but that's what I came up with whilst watching it.

Not as bad as it could have been, but certainly the weakest episode so far. Basically it was the Torchwood equivalent of Love&Monsters.
Disappointed by the lack of Janto! (Jack/Ianto needs a name doesn't it)
The trailer for next week looks great though!

Definitely feeling the Janto loss so strongly. I think they investigated the hit and run because they knew Eugene. I voted it 1 because it's my least fav. so far, but it was okay.

i disliked it. it best be the prelude to something big....maybe this was a set up episode and the eye will do something reallly interesting next episode. i thought that the storyline was a bit tenious, i mean...i know they knew him but why did they investigate it? its a simple hit and run and even if the eye is of interest i could have made the beginning part of the episode sum up wat happened. rather than it all be a bit like a incredibly dull and slow detective thriller....a distinct lack of aliens...supernatural and janto info.
next week has Owen sleeping with a woman from the past...maybe it will transpire he is his own grandfather! (like the futurama episode)

My sister didn't care too much about the loss of Janto. I scowled at her and told her how could she not care, and she just said I was weird and walked off. Anyway..
I have to agree with everyone else, It was the weakest episode so far. I think it was just a gap filler.
It would be very strange if Owen became his own grandfather, but who knows.

I have to agree...the episode was the weakest episode of the series so far. The trailer looks good for next week though. However, being an Owen and Gwen fan..i am very disappointed about the Owen thing. Oh well, i'll get over it. Anyhow...it would be really wierd if he became his own grandfather. And I am disappointed in the lack of Janto.

I support Gwen/Owen, but having seen Owen in the first episode I kind of expected it to end at some point.

CmdrPuffin Basically it was the Torchwood equivalent of Love&Monsters. That's exactly what I thought when I first started watching it..."oh god, it's Love & Monsters all over again..." But despite all the bad wrap here I really enjoyed it. I think it was most definately eluding to a Gwen/Gwyneth connection - RTD doesn't ignore it when he uses the same actor in connected shows. And I really think that was the point of the whole episode - as well as examining a 'real' person whose been effected by Torchwood/aliens. As for the lack of other characters...well, Torchwood seems to focus on one character each episode. Day One was Gwen's story; Greeks Bearing Gifts was Tosh's story; the Cyberwoman one was Ianto's...this one happened to be Gwen's story again, that's all.

I wanted the alien to show up. And if the afterlife is darkness, how come Eugene disappears into white light? Very mad at lack of Janto. Doesn't it seem like every guy Gwen meets falls in love with her? How the hell did she end up with Rhys?

Anyone else find it ironic that it was a banana milkshake?

I wanted the alien to show up as well. I hope it comes up again later on (although with only 4 episodes left, I doubt the chances of that are quite low.)
I hadn't actually thought about the afterlife thing, but that is very true. Maybe it's different for each person. Who knows?
I'm getting a bit mad at eh Gwen/Every man who sees her thing. It's quite annoying really.
Last thing: I did'nt actually notice the banana milkshake thing (I really need to stop doing my homework while it's on.) It's nice to see more links to Doctor Who, even if they weren't intentional.

Hehe...banana milkshake! Good spotting wink
One other thing that got to me that episode was the video store guy saying (in scorn, but still) something along the lines of "alien with 6 eyes". How the hell did he know that? The only person who'd said anything about an alien having 6 eyes was Jack. And who was the supposed alien-object collector that made the 15000 bid? A person like Van Statten, or a real alien?
With the afterlife thing...it didn't show him going towards a white light in the end, that was just his moving away from the earth into space, gradually fading to nothing...It had Eugene talking about living life now (the usual guff) ending with him saying "because in the end there's..." then nothing. A black screen. Where Suzie has said much the same - there's nothing - darkness. She looked at death from a very negative point of view and had done bad things before she died; whereas Eugene was always positive - but they still both ended up in the darkness. In the end it's just the different POV's that made the experiences seem any different...that's what I felt about it anyway.

Banana's are good razz
I do hope they touch on the Gwen/Gwyneth thing but at this point I'm not sure they'll have time to do it this season.

I thought it was by far the weakest episode and definitely the "Love and Monsters" of this series. I guess John Barrowman had to get a break at some point though.
They could have given us something to follow up on Jack/Ianto last week. Even some suggestive handling of the stopwatch and a winkwinknudgenudge sort of thing would be better than nothing. :/

Even if it was just a glance at each other, I would have been happy, but there was no Ianto/Jack whatsoever.
