Storyline For as long as anyone can remember, humans and non-humans have lived in peace, along side one another in the land of Tymantia. They have been accepting of each other, and have virtually ignored their differences. That is, until a new religious group started to gain influence amoung the humans. It started in the cities, with the ones that had power. THen slowle, the group started to move amoung the people that lived in the poorer parts of the city, promising deliverance from poverty. THe catch was that they would have to follow the leader of the religion without question. And that meant turning away the non-humans. 'Exterminating' them in a way.
It took a while for these 'teachings' to take hold. It was not easy for the humans to suddenly turn against the beings that helped them out many times, and that they had helped out as well. But with the younger generations, the new religion started to take hold. Now, many people view non-humans, witches, demons, shifters and the like, to be followers of 'evil'. While many say that the non-humans should just be forced to leave, to go live somewhere else, there is a group that says they should be killed, made to pay for their 'sins'.
THough this sentiment has not gained strength in the smaller, more distant villages and towns, or the religion for that matter, it is starting to gain momentum.
It does not help that for the past few years livestock from the town of Dresden and its surrounding farms have been disappearing. The farmers and townsfolk originally passed it off as just being coyotes and wolves. Lately, however, people have been disappearing as well. The new religion took this as an opertunity to implicate the non-humans. They have been telling the people of Dresden that non-humans such as shape-shifters and demons are responsible for the dissapearance. At first, this was ignored by he larger part of the population. However, when these people do not return, tension begins to build. It is when a body turns up, mutilated and barely recognizable, that panic starts to set in and more and more people start to turn to the new religion to help them. Many are willing to do whatever they are told to by the 'church' if they think it will help.
How will you react? Will you be human or non-human? Will you go with the chruch or will you stay away from it? What will affect your desicions and what will the consiquences be?

Kaori walked through the streets of the village, almost ready to head out into the forest to look for her friend, Cassandra. She just had a few more stops to make, one being at a store, another at the library, and finally at Cassandra's mother's house to let her know that she was off. It had taken her longer than she had thought to gather what she felt that she needed to head out into the forest. The young witch had needed to wait for the owner of the library to get the materials she had requested ready. Not that it was much, but the things she had asked for had needed to be found.
The shopkeeper that she was heading to see was one of the ones that had helped to raise her, and he had insisted that she stop by before leaving the village. She had the distinct impression that he was going to give her something before she left, though what that was, Kaori did not know.

Bastian was deeply focused on reading the book he had borrowed from the library. It was old an leather-bound. Most of the pages where tattered and torn. He was also glancing up at Dresden and watching farmers here and there; it was a rare scene to see such serenity, with all of the recent disappearances. He really wanted to get to the bottom of this, but still, he never went into water without finding out about every component that made up that body of water and every creature/plant that made the ecosystem of that water. He sometimes considered himself a man of God, and sometimes a man of Science. As he looked at the farmers, he noticed one farmer was holding onto a cow laying on the ground.
What's wrong with that cow? He thought to himself.
He immediately picked up his book and notes and ran over to the farmer! The farmer looked over at Bastian.
"Oh, Bastian! My cow! She's dying! Please, save her!" The farmer exclaimed.
"How old is your cow?"
"She's 14."
"14?! Sir, she shouldn't still be alive..."
"Boy, please cure her!"
Bastian sighed. He knew that if the cow was at it's natural end, it wouldn't be curable. He attempted anyway; he lifted his hands above his head, and started to chant.
"Divine and loving one, who watches over us, lend me your power of life! Health Restore!"
A blue light surrounded the cow and the cow stood up. The farmer looked at the cow as the cow turned its head up to face the farmer. The cow shoed no signs of the spell failing. It licked Bastian's face!
What's going on here...? Bastian wondered, as the farmer thanked him and pet the cow.

Kaori had finally picked up all of the things that she needed, and was on her way to the house that she lived in on the outskirts of town. It was her her parents old house actually, it held many memories, and now she was starting her own life there, like her parens had so many years ago. On her way out, she noticed that one of the villagers, a young man that she noticed almost always was carrying some form of book, rush towards one of the farmers. Curious, the young witch headed over to where the two were, it was on her way home anyway. She momentarily saw a blue light, then a cow standing up. Hough she did not know exactly what had just passed, she knew that some form of magic had been used. The young womans curiosity was now peeked even more, and she picked up her pace slightly, ending up near where the farmer and the man were standing after just two or three minutes.
"Good afternoon, sirs." She said politly, nodding to the two men, "Nice day, isn't it?"

Bastian looked over at the young witch whom had just greeted him. At first, he was somewhat shocked! He didn't expect the witch girl to randomly come over to him. He was excited to be able to meet her for the first time. Unfortunately for him, he had been brought up by the church, and they didn't see Kaori as very "loyal" based only on her heritage. He decided to speak with Kaori.
"Good afternoon! It truly is a nice day," Bastian smiled. "Although, the matter of cows outliving their average life-span is a tad concerning."
"Bastian, don't worry about such trivial things! My cow has been blessed by your gift of life!" The farmer had said to Bastian.
Bastian grimly looked at the outskirts of the forest, then looked back at Kaori and mouthed something along the lines of "it wasn't my power". He then motioned Kaori to follow him. They headed towards a shack near the library wing of the church.
"Kaori, I apologise for not properly introducing myself. My name is Bastian Lutris." He then set his book down and looked deeply into Kaori's eyes. "Kaori, your eyes are very pretty! Please, make sure to protect them from unholy sights." He then backed away and sat back down.

Kaori chuckled and shook her head as they walked. "Thank you, Bastian, you are a member of the small church here, correct? According to them, I am an unholy sight, mearly because I am not a human." Though it did upset her at times, she knew this to be true. The religion that had begun to spring up in the small villages and towns in the past years told people that her kind, among others, were evil, the work of some dark god.
The young woman shook her head, clearing it of the depressing thoughts, "I will try my best, though I must go and search for my friend. She has disappeared, and she is not the type to just leave all of a sudden. Her mother is worried, and so am I. If I see 'unholy' sights while searching for her, I will have to live with that."
"Now, on a lighter note, what did you mean when you said that cow was out-living its life-span? And what did the farmer mean by your 'gift'?"

Bastian smiled warmly at Kaori.
"I apologise; I meant what I said with full intention of helping you every step of the way. Kaori, even if the church thinks you're an 'unholy sight,' I know your heart is full of good intentions!"
He placed his hand on her heart, and put her hand on his his. They were both beating in unison.
"See? Our hearts beat with the same rhythm!"
Bastian realised that he was laying his hand on Kaori's chest, and it had hit him that that was probably making Kaori uncomfortable. He quickly pulled his hand away.
"S-sorry, Miss Kaori..." he blushed.
"Anywho," he adjusted his glasses, "about the cow; it was, if you can believe it, 14 years old! Normally, cows don't live that long. The farmer told me to use my Curative Magic to revive it from its critical condition. Normally, if a living creature is at its natural limit, the magic wont revive, because that would be taking the creature away from our great Deity. However, the cow was in perfect condition when I revived her (I must say, I'm quite proud of my magic these days, heh heh). And to answer your question about the 'gift,' he merely meant my magic, but I presume you were able to deduce this already by what I had just told you."
Bastian pulled two apples out of his adventuring sack.
"Apple?" He offered. "Their Honeycrisps!" He smiled.

Kaori chuckled at Batians enthusiasm. She knew him to be a year older than him, but he seemed to act younger. But then, losing ones parents did tend to make you grow up faster.
"It is okay, Bastian, you were mearly demonstraiting a point. And fourteen years old? I wonder how that is possible...." Kaori glanced at the apple and took it, "Thank you. I would be interested in talking to you about your magic, if you wouldn't mind. But right now I really should go and try to find Cassandra."

An unfamiliar, considerably older male, slouched by the door of the library. A book was propped open in his hands, but he was paying no attention to it, instead he was watching the boy and girl conversing over a healed cow. They had caught his attention immediately, and his eyes were narrowed apon them.
He also noticed people walking by, slowing, as if they were about to enter the library, but after spotting him they quickened their pace and passed by. He watched as other citizens, stopped to talk quietly amongst themselves, glancing at him quickly, then back to their companions for more suspicious whispering. Yet through all of this, he pretended not to notice.
His long silver hair hung into his eyes, and he absent-mindedly brushed it to the side, for it only to fall into its place again, you get the impression he did it often. His long, worn black leather coat hid his two sheathed swords, but his worn bow lay visable which rested apon a small pack, which each lay apon his back.
The owner of the library exited the building and shooed him away, tipped off by an older woman who had recently entered. Abel gazed with cold gray eyes to him, and he nodded and shut the book. He sighed, and used his right foot, which was propped up against the building to push himself off, and began to walk toward the two. His black cloak billowed out behind him, showing off his tall thin frame.

Kaori nodded again at Bastien before turning to leave. The young witch was about to head towards her house when she remembered a book that she had forgotten to pick up. It was not incredibly important, but she would like to get it before her next trip to the library.
Turning around the young woman picked up her pace slightly, walking at a brisk pace towards the library. She was not far away when she passed an older male that had an unussual appearance. Nodding towards him in greeting, she walked past for afew steps before realizing that there was more of a difference to him than his appearance. Looking back at him, she picked up more on it.
This man was a non-human, like herself. Her curiosity piqued, she called after him "Excuse me? Sir?"
