Lucrezia sat on a low bow of an oak tree in the center of the camp setup. It was a rather large, dignified tree, and probably very old judging from the way the branches snaked along the ground. The day had started out frigid, and it hadn't exactly warmed up, but Lucrezia had been trying to climb the thing. It's branches turned out to be too thick and straight higher up for her to get a good grip, but she couldn't think of anything else to do, so she was still there on the lower branch.
She looked down at her feet dangling a few feet of the ground and knocked her ankles together.
It sure was boring to have nothing to do.

Charlot was smoking. It was part of his break, to walk around the grounds and smoke out of anyones way that might have been 'offended' by it otherwise. He hadn't found anyone else besides Hadrian that enjoyed smoking like he did.
He spotted something in the trees and wandered over, curious to see what the hell had gotten stuck up there. He flicked ashes aside, looking up into the branches as he approached.
"Oh, it's you~" He called up, waving. "Nice tree."

Lucrezia looked down at the voice and waved, recognizing the speaker. "Salut, Charlot," she replied, and noticing the smoking thing in his hand, asked, "What's that?"
She'd never quite seen such a thing, and it mystified her. What were the benefits of inhaling fire? Maybe it was another trick?

"This?" He looked around, realizing she must have meant the cigarette. He held it up, tilting his head at her. "It's a cigarette. Full o'nicotine an' poison, damn good stuff." He grinned, placing it in the corner of his mouth.
"What y'doin up in th'tree?"

Lucrezia hesitated, trying to figure out how poison could be used in the same sentence as Good Stuff without the word not, but decided to let the subject drop. She patted the tree branch and kicked her legs a little.
"I was climbing it," she replied, "But it's not the proper sort of climbing tree once you get higher up. What're you doing under the tree?"

"Well oi can see that," He replied to the climbing comment. "Actually, oi was wandering about smoking an'spotted a strange sort of bird in th'tree... 'pon discovering it was you."
He stepped under the tree, turning so he could sit with his back to the trunk and peer up at her as they chatted. "There are fancy trees around 'ere, I'm sure y'could find you a nice one."

Lucrezia shrugged. "I could, I suppose, but I'm almost beginning to like this one." She absentmindedly untied and retied one of her grip wraps, apparently trying to get it to a satisfactory tightness. "It's a rather nice tree, don't you think?"
With little warning, she scooted off the branch and landed in front of him.
"So, how are you enjoying this new stop?"

Charlot regarded the tree, nodding. "Aye, it's a nice tree- without th'igher branches y'like."
He took a step back as she suddenly appeared in front of him, eyebrows darting up. He inhaled a bit of smoke, breathing it out through his nose.
"Mmm... th'place isn't s'bad. Lot's of trees around, thought-" He gestured with his hand around them, glancing back at her. "Plenty of fun things t'climb f'you, though?"

Lucrezia wrinkled her nose, finally smelling the full effect of the smoke. Though commenting on it, she decided, could possibly be taken as offensive. "Yes," she agreed with a smile, "Plenty of fun things. I got to help with tent rigging this morning. That was some very fun climbing."

Charlot noticed the crinkle of her little nose and moved the cigarette out of her wind.
"Tent riggin', eh? Oi 'elped with the poles an things... never with the 'igher up stuff." He nodded absently, glancing back towards the circus grounds. "Y'got an act worked out yet?"

"I'm working on it," she sighed. "Aiden and I found an old silks ribbon long enough for the big tent, and I'm working on a costume. Sequins are tricky little things, you know?" She laughed and held up a hand to show him her needle-pricked fingers, which served as a better explanation.
"Have you got one worked out?" she countered, curious how his targetting was going.

"Sequins, eh?" He'd pass on the sequin'd costume, thanks. "Sewing it y'self, that's talent." He hadn't thought about what he was going to do for a costume yet. He figured he'd better get on that part of it...
"A show? Well, oi got a few things worked out... mostly with me whip right now. Still not good enough with th'knives just yet. Maybe next time." He grinned, finishing up the cigarette and snuffing out the rest. "When's your first performance? D'you know yet?"

Lucrezia laughed. "I'm not making the whole thing myself," she confessed. "I'm just sewing the sequins on. I'm a terrible seamstress on the whole. Gymnast's hands and that whole deal." She leaned back against the treebow, resting her shoulders against it, and shrugged lightly. "I don't know when I'm going to do my first performance. How about you? Do you know when yours is?"

@ Charlot nodded, smile across his face. "Ah, Oi see."
He tilted his head up at her, eyes narrowing a tick as he thought. "Aye, mine's actually in'a couple days. Oi gotta find a costume for m'self an put th' fininishin touches on my act. Oi'm a lil nervous, but oi'm also lookin' forward t' it."
He folded his arms across his chest with a sigh, looking down and over to the other trees. "Be sure t' tell me when your's is. Oi want t'see what you've been workin' so hard at all this time."

"I'll be sure to," she replied, considering what he had said. "A few days?" she clarified. "I'll be sure to see it. Good luck with the costume!"
She waved and pulled herself back up into the tree to try climbing again.
