It seemed the cold was bothering him less and less these days. The first moment he had felt snow here he had been so sure it was going to kill him but now it seemed to be a comfort. The pure white flakes falling from the sky seemed to wash away his doubts and numb his pain. Glancing down at his ankles he realized that the snow could not make all vanish. The scars from his past still remained in the form of cold spikes.

He lifted his electric green eyes and gasped as the ghostly form of a foal appeared in the swirling snow. Wide-eyed, he stood to face his memory but the moment he closed his eyes it was lost forever. "I'm so sorry..." He whispered feeling an old pain resurface in his heart. It was times like these he wondered if it would have been better to just have stayed at his old 'home'.

Snow, it was something that he had always be accustomed to and due to the sheer amount of clothing he had on, it very rarely caused him any discomfort. In fact, the only problem with snow was that he stuck out like a sore thumb against the crisp, white powder beneath his feet. During this season and out on such open terrain it was hard to avoid the company of another as not even a dull grey sky could hide you; nothing could.

Releasing a snort, the stallion continued to pick his way across the snow, lifting his knees higher than usual to release them from the peculiar suction of the substance beneath his hooves. As a foal, he would have found it funny that he had become stuck in the snow but as an adult, he found it nothing more than a hinderance.

Still, he was in reasonably good spirits this morning. Perhaps it was the fact that his companion (friend?), actually he wasn't sure what to refer to her as but Tifa was someone who could always put him in a surprisingly good mood...had lately been around him more than usual.

Releasing a snort, a small smile lifted onto his lips as he proceeded across the barren 'wastelands' of snow, for a while there had no signs of life and that was relaxing to him, something he enjoyed - how unfortunate for him, as he clambered over the next ridge, that there was another stallion ahead of him.

...Maybe if he turned around now, he wouldn't know Cloud had been there?

His eyes closed knowing that nothing he did now would fix anything. Perhaps she was still alive somewhere, there was no way to know and he probably wouldn't recognize her now even if he saw her. The thought comforted him a bit and produced a small smile on his face. "Now if she'd only stay out of my mind for good..." He murmured flicking his tail as he turned to walk away only to stop a second later finding that there was another there.

He could feel his blood boiling as his eyes narrowed. He had been watched? Someone had been watching him during his moment of weakness. It was as though no one held any manners in this part of the world.

"Who are you and what do you want?" He demanded marching rather slowly up the frozen hill to the silent watcher. If he gave any grief to Xantir, well, his spikes weren't just for looks. As much as he hated to do it, he could attack if he needed to.

Cloud arched a brow, it seemed that everyone he encountered (with the exception of Tifa) automatically assumed that he was after something or had deliberately followed them. Even so, he had heard enough abuse to be used to it by now and with a small sigh he simply shook his head and flicked his short tail in response to the stallion's questions.

He wasn't even going to dignify it was a response, he had decided that. He wasn't going to respond to anyone who spoke to him in that way and he most certainly wouldn't give them his name! Now if they learnt some manners and then repeated their questions in a more appropriate way then he would respond properly.

For now though...

He simply gave a snort.

Hearing the stallions reaction only aggravated Xantir. If he was so unimportant then why had he been watched? It seemed that the horses her were not only nosey but also foolish. "What, you can't talk?" He asked bitterly sizing the stallion up. The fleshy colored horse was about the same size as Xantir but he didn't seem to have any weapons. He would have the advantage with his spikes.

"You have the nerve to come watch me then don't even give a reason or an apology?" Keeping his head low as he had been trained too he began circling the clothed stallion keeping the blonds head in view. On better circumstances he never would have resorted to these kinds of actions but his reputation was at stake. If this stallion told what he had seen then people would begin to know him as weak and he would be hounded.

Cloud arched a brow as the stallion continued with his tirade, obviously so obssessed with his own apparnet status, he hadn't even taken the time to consider that the mountains were not his alone and that other creatures did actually exist and sometimes walk along the same pathways tread by another - it happened, that didn't automatically mean they were following him.

The stallion released another snort as Xantir attempted to be at least threatening to him but, having experienced the wrath of an angry female, a self-centred male was not going to be bothering him any time soon.

Flicking a blond piece of forelock from his eyes, he simply released a sigh and shook his head. Dismissing the stallion's comments entirely he timed his movements carefully and walked out of the circle when there was sufficient space for him to do so - he wasn't claustophobic, but that was just incredibly annoying.

Annoying!

"Don't flatter yourself with the assumption that anyone cares." He muttered finally, turning his back to the stallion as he proceeded away from him.

Xantir ceased his stalking as the stallion began to walk away. It was becoming more evident that the males here were a lot different then in his first home. He had in all honesty expected to be attacked though this was a better outcome. Better, yes, but not even close to pleasant. He was still being ignored, and insulted, but mostly ignored. He needed to know what the fool had seen and needed to know that he would not speak.

"What did you see?"He asked making his voice less threatening as it hadn't seemed to have an effect so far. Following the others footprints he approached again trying to make some form of eye contact to prove that he wasn't messing around. This was important and the stupid blond didn't seem to realize this.

His brow arched higher in response to the stallions questions, but like Yei, this being seemed incapable of letting a subject drop. As a result, instead of walking a way he released a sigh and simply observed the stallion for a few moments. What was the problem? He was becoming increasingly annoyed at how some stallions could be so incredibly territorial over the tiniest piece of land.

"Nothing." He replied flatly, meeting the gaze of the stallion in order to emphasise that he had quite literally, seen absolutely nothing. "I saw nothing, with the exception of your hunched form for all of, well..." He paused, canting his head to the side as he considered the quesiton.

"...Thirty seconds?" He finished and shook his head, already tired of the male's obsession with something Cloud wasn't quite sure of. Pot calling kettle black though, blondie could be much worse when he wanted to be!

"Are we finished?"

So he hadn't seen anything, that or he was an excellent liar. Xantir hoped it was the first option, he didn't want to make enemies so soon. Though, the way the blond was acting, he was already on stand-offish terms with him. He nodded slowly then turned to walk away. "Yeah, we're done as long as you really didn't see anything." He said tossing his mane over his shoulder before finally focusing at the base of the hill.

What he saw made him freeze. She was back again. The ghostly form in the blowing snow looking straight at him with hollow eyes. "What...what do you want?" He murmured careful not to let the other beside him hear. He watched as the apparition turned to look at the blond before vanishing into the snow again. "I'm going nuts..." He said eye twitching slightly. He had never had so many hallucinations before now. Something about the snow seemed to bring it up.

"I could have told you that." Cloud replied coolly, his brow lifting at the way the stallion was reacting. Perhaps he simply wasn't one who was used to the snow, more of a meadow or clearing dweller and therefore the cold making him do strange things but the blond haired stallion had to admit that it was reasonably unhealthy to twitch and freeze that much.

"I suppose it wouldn't be the best of ideas to ask what exactly you were looking at?" He continued, giving a soft whicker as he allowed his gaze to drift across the snow. As far as the eyes could see, there was nothing there. With the exception of snow drifts and the occasional piece of foliage they were about the only living creatures for miles.

Xantir turned snapped his head around to glare at the other stallion. What an attitude blondie head but seeing as he had started the conservation it was only right to continue it. "You bet..."He finally muttered after quite a long internal battle deciding whether to screw manners and snap or just answer. This day just wasn't going his way. Seeing ghosts twice then being told you were crazy was not pleasent.

Letting out a heavy sight he turned around completely to face the clothed stallion. "Do you have more questions or can I go?"He asked completely deadpan. The second he got away from the other stallion he was getting as far away from the snow as he could get until it all melted. He'd even stop sleeping if he had to. Though considering it he decided that would make things much worse.

//If I take to long sometimes, don't be afraid to nudge me through PM hun. <3

"With all due respect... Do you even know how to get off this slope?" Cloud enquired. Having taken the time to observe his surroundings, the innumerable snowdrifts often made it difficult to decide which way was up and which way was down. To make matters worse, the mist that seemed to enjoy caressing the white powder made sight a tad patchy in the occasioanl place.

If anything...

"You don't seem to be that familiar with where you are. If I let you go, you may just fall into a ditch and then what would you do?" He was beginning to sound like Yei, the thought almost made him shudder but he could see where she would have a point in this situation - he just supposed he would have to figure out another way to word it if it ever arose again.

"If you've taken that all into consideration, then I guess I'm out of questions."

((It's okay, I don't care about the wait it gives me time to think about Xan...sorry this is short))

After taking a minute to think he shook his head with a bit of a chuckle. "Yeah, it's really hard to walk down..." He said sarcastically turning around to leave. He didn't know the area, that much was true, but even in snow it wasn't hard to find shelter or a path for that matter. Still laughing at the obvious questions he took another step and wound up neck deep in snow.

He froze, not only from the cold but the mocking he was sure would follow. Trying to play it off as though it were nothing he pushed his way through the snow still laughing like he meant to fall.

The mockery never came. In fact, if the stallion had any sense about anything he would have realised that the clothes creature beforeh im was above such things. Perhaps, in his childhood, the stallion had encountered problems that had caused him to take a dislike to acting in such a manner but either way - he didn't say a word.

Not even 'I told you so'.

It was strange, instead of making any form of comment he simply watched the other stallion walk in his chosen direction before shifting his gaze towards the direction that a suitable and less dangerous path lay. Shaking his head, and releasing a soft snort, the stallion then made a decision and without a word he proceeded along his own designated route.

...Maybe Xantir would cotton on eventually?
