Okay guys, I'm packin' up and headin' out.
For those of you who've seen my other thread, you may know that I've been troubled lately. I've felt useless and confused lately, like a burden to everyone around me. I'm not doing anything for myself, sure I'm in college, after this year I'll be choosing a University to transfer to and choose what kind of career I want to dedicate the rest of my life to. I'm not ready, I can't decide, I can't even fathom what I want to do. So I'm taking next term off, making some money, moving out. Finding out what the working world is like might kick a little sense into me, it might help me be more adamant in my final decision, but I've got to find a job and keep it first. So after all that I've devised the following plan:
- I'm giving up my internet privileges for the sake of staying focussed. On December seventh and forword I'm not logging into Gaia, 4chan, Uncyclopedia, GMail, ytmnd, or even opening my browser if I can help it. In order to stay sane, and keep in touch with people, I'm going to allow myself access to my messengers, of which I have all three. See the bottom of this post for contact information.
- As of tomorrow, the only activities that I'm allowed to partake in are reading, writing, offline role playing, and occasionally television. I'm going to move all the game systems into my brother's room (which smells horrible, so it's guaranteed that i won't go in there).
- I'm setting my alarm clock, and I'm going to rework my sleep schedule so that I can wake up at a reasonable hour.
- I'm going to go out/read want ads and turn in applications/make calls as many days as I possibly can in the next few months.
- Last, but surely not at all least, if I cannot find a job by my twentieth birthday, this February seventeenth, and show absolutely no progress or change, I'm going to find my local recruiter and take a placement test for the Peace Corps. If I get in then you all can kiss me goodbye for two an a half years.
If I can find a job then, after I get settled into my new schedule, I'll come back and resume my normal antics. I'll only be gone for a while, and not really gone, just away.
I'm making this resolution to you guys, because this place has been like a second home, and you all have been like a second family, to me. Sometimes you've been more like a home and a family then my real home and family! I feel indebted to you, my friends, but I have to ask for encouragement and strength. There are more of you then I could possibly name in one sitting, some of you have come and gone, and come again, but each of you is very special to me in your unique way.
