Anybody have it? I was wondering if the games look and sound as good as they did on Genesis.

Due to unforseen circumstances I may never see my 8 and 16 bit stuff again and I can't find my PS4 cart... crying

I like some of the other games on the disc too and it's only $20

Since, from what I'm seeing, it's not out in Japan, let alone the rest of the world, until the first quarter of next year, I'm betting no one does.
Edit:
Scratch that, Just saw the 1-4 thing mentioned on Gamefaqs and the boards there point out a Genesis collection with 2-4 which is out. I assume you refer to that rather than the strictly Phantasy Star thing. In which case, no clue but I know what I'm buying as soon as I have free cash. >_>

Okay, I only got to play an hour of IV before bed, so Alys and co. are still parked in Piata's basement. (Shush, I tend to level up alot more than one "should" in an area. xd ) Here's what I noticed wrong so far.

1. There's a mistake in manual! gonk They say it takes place on the planet Palma! xd rofl

2. Maybe it's because I was playing it on a 13inch Mono TV instead of the 20-some inch Stereo TV that I played the Genesis version on, but the colors seemed off to the point where it hurt to look at the screen (it could just be the TV color settings), and the BGs and SFX were off as well, but that could just be because of the whole Mono/Stereo thing.

3. On the cart, the battle music ended and the victory fanfare played, then there was silence after the fanfare finished til you closed the battle screen. On the CD, the battle music continues while the fanfare plays causing the two songs to overlap, and the battle music is still playing even after the fanfare is finished and it only stops when the battle screen is gone.

4. I swear Tsu's SFX is wrong! stressed I'll have to get out my Nomad and PSIV cart later and double-check on that. I remember it being a sorta "laser buzz" noise, but it's not like that now...

5. When Hahn got Wat, I went to macro to make a Macro of Alys Foi, Hahn Wat, Chaz Atk. I set the Foi, but when I went to Hahn to look for the Wat, it wasn't there! eek I double-checked Hahn's Tech page on the Status screen, and it said that he did have it. I tried making the Macro again, and this time it showed up. redface

I know that they released a phantasy star collection for the GBA that has 1, 2, and 4 I believe. I also know that in japan they where redoing old sega games for the PS2 in a series called Sega Ages. Unfortunatly though they haven't released them in america. As far as I know they only got 1 and 2 done. Though the new pictures of it make it look awesome unfortunatly I haven't played it. crying I wish they would release in here in america.. Anyway here are some pictures from Phantasy Star II from the Sega Ages for the playstation 2

Comparing the PS2 and Genesis versions on the same screen at the same time I've seen that with PS3, the colors are brighter on the PS2, Rhys's hair goes from Cobalt Blue (Genesis) to Azure (PS2) for example, the music is, for the the most part at the very least, untouched as are the sounds, and the screen is moved about 3 pixels to the left and about 5-6 up from the original.
Phantasy Star 4's music and sounds seem unchanged, and the brightening is less extreme though still there. The screen's positioning is changed the same ammount, so I'd assume that's true for all games on the collection.
In short: Colors have been brightened, screen positioning slightly adjusted, and the sound untouched. Granted, the graphical differences could just be due to the different ways the systems are connected to the television; PS2 through the Video/Audio plugs in the TV while the Genesis requires an adapter, probably not what it actually is but I'm at a loss for words and information as to what it actually is.

I'll check on glitches later, but so far there seem to be no real adjustments made to any of the games, so any that don't exist within the cartridges shouldn't be present on the PS2.
Edit: Wat showed up immediately in the macro section after getting it rather than needing to try twice and Tsu sounds the same on both the Genesis and PS2.
Edit a day later: Not so much a specific game issue but figured it worth mentioning since I said I'd check on glitches; The collection has, hopefully infrequent, issues with corrupting random saves. Lost Phantasy Star 3, Sonic, and one other thing I forget. Hopefully Phantasy Star 2 and 4 will be intact tomorrow

Sonics Ultimate Genesis collection is out for the xbox360 and ps3. From what I've read, it has all 4 of the Phantasy Star games which is great because we all know we will never get the sega ages redone Phantasy star titles, and it is the first collection I have seen to feature all 4 games at once. Now to play through them all yet again. The game only costs 30 bucks too.

Here is something else I found. It is a 4 cd set containing all the songs from Phantasy Star 1-4. The company that made it went out of business so once it's gone it's gone. And since the original cd's which Vol 1 and 2 only had one disc each of, this is a real deal. The site is based in Japan but they do ship to america. I just bought my cd and it was just shipped out. The conversion in us dollars is about eighty dollars, but still, alot better then paying 100 dollars for one cd off Ebay. Here is the site for those interested in purchasing the item.
