it's pretty long, but I hope you enjoy it. I wrote it for a friend when we were in a fight. I used it for a creative writing contest, and won third place.

Camaraderie

It won’t be the same
I need you
Nothing in this abyss
The darkness is suffocating

You were my friend
Friends till the end
I was almost your end

But now nothing matters
I don’t care
I can’t make myself care

It’s so cold
Why am I so cold?

Why is it suddenly warm?
Why does it feel like my warmth is draining?

I can’t feel
I won’t feel

Why are you crying?
Am I crying?
I just can’t feel anything
Is this The Numbness?

I am crying
But not salty tears
I’m crying blood

It’s flowing
It’s leaving me
It’s just like everyone else
It’s all over your hands
It’s turning the dirt to mud

That argument seemed so stupid
I couldn’t explain what I thought

You called my bluff
But the car didn’t
Guess it wasn’t a bluff
The blur of red saw to that

How could I be so selfish?
IT wanted you
But I didn’t want it that way

It was going to be one of us
I didn’t want it to be you

We were in the street yelling
The corner was sharp
We heard only the screeching

It was too late for me

I wasn’t as good as you
You had a future; a life
I had nothing

It had to be one of us
It couldn’t be you
I was selfish
It had to be me

If I could explain
I would

If I could apologize
I would

But there’s no time left

It won’t be the same for you
We needed each other

I can’t breath
But you still hold me
Holding on to my life

Friends till the end.
