Oh dear... I mostly hang out in the Monty Python forums, and some Lord of the Rings, so it's rare that you encounter horrific netspeak- most people do use proper English. But I recently subscribed to a thread for the tv programme Lost, and look what I found... Quote: i luv lst its amazin!!! bt i dnt fink its bk on til januari ova ere!! *criis* What the hell? What is this monstrosity?!?!? What would give you cause to butcher the English language in such a heinous fasion? What does 'bk' even mean? I can't figure it to be a misspelling for anything, just it's own atrocious entity. *shudders*

Translation*:
"I love Lost, it's amazing!!! But I don't think it's back on till January over here!! *Cries*
*Edited slightly for grammatical purposes.
I have no idea why people talk like this. It takes me longer to type a sentence in "txt tlk." Than it does for me to type a paragraph in "English**." I hate this.

Smoozle Translation*: "I love Lost, it's amazing!!! But I don't think it's back on till January over here!! *Cries* *Edited slightly for grammatical purposes That's so... unecessary. I honestly do not understand the need for netspeak in a situation where you're not rushed for time. It's absurd. In gaming, I can understand, but here? No excuse.

Indeed. If people can take the time to type in "txt tlk" Then they can surely take the time to type in full.

I do beleive the human race is soon going to go through "de-evolution." Soon enough they'll all be monkeys, leaving only us literate people to thrive. Soon, soon my pretties we will not have to deal with this idiocy. pirate

Taki Kurozawa I do believe the human race is soon going to go through "de-evolution." Soon enough they'll all be monkeys, leaving only us literate people to thrive. Soon, soon my pretties we will not have to deal with this idiocy. pirate The quickest way to that is a nuclear holocaust...but then again, it can lead to another Ice Age from the artificial climate alterations, due to nuclear fallout. Ah well...either way, the scourge will eventually end, as he said. confused

dameonmac5918 Smoozle Indeed. If people can take the time to type in "txt tlk" Then they can surely take the time to type in full. I agree with you very much. So true. If that were to be the case, why is it that the vast majority of Gaians and other forum-posters type in text talk? Humans are merely creatures of habit. This text scourge will be here for generations to come.
