Covet had been up earlier than usual, her mind buzzing with the up coming holidays. There was so much to do and so little time to do it all, and this would be her first time to have an entire place of her own to decorate as she saw fit. The thought of it filled her with a childish bounciness and made her smile. Hopping up the stairs to the bedroom, she literally pounced on the sleeping Mecca with a smirk, knowing full well it was probably not a wise idea to do so. But to get things started, they needed the crown jewel of all Christmas decorations: the Christmas tree.
"Me-chan... get up," she smiled and nipped his shoulder.

Mecca gave an irritated mumble and turned to lay on his front, pulling the covers up over his head. He didn't want to get up. There was absolutely no reason to.
Scim had decided he liked Covet's game and bounced up on the bed, taking the covers between his teeth and trying to yank them off of his master. It was a nice sunny winter morning. Far too good to be wasting in bed.

Covet laughed as Scim tried to help her wake Mecca up and rolled her eyes a little as he attempted to be difficult. "Me-chan... pleeeaase," she begged, shaking him roughly. "It's coming up so fast and I wanna be ready. We have to get a tree so I can get started with the decorating," she smiled and leaned down to n** his ear. "I need your help with that. Please?"

Mecca gave a groan of defeat and sat up. What the hell was she going on about? Running his fingers through his hair he blinked and gave Scim a look that said 'traitor'
"Covet, what?" He asked studying the over happy expression on her face. "Be ready for what, and decorating ... a tree?" He frowned a little and yawned. "Have you been eating those sugar sweets from the market again?"

Covet smirked and rolled her eyes again as she moved to sit in his lap and twirl his hair around her fingers. "Ready for Christmas of course," she smiled brightly and leaned in to kiss him quickly. "Don't tell me you've never celebrated before," she said, arching a brow slightly. "I mean... you are at least aware of the holiday, right?" she laughed.

"Um, no." He said wrapping his arms around her and flopping backwards. "So I think we should go back to sleep. It can't be that important." Yawning again he closed his eyes and fully intended to drift back off to sleep.

Breathing in deeply, Covet's smile turned slightly murderous as she realized he was being serious. Squirming out of his grasp, she pulled herself up to her knees as she knelt beside him and looked down at him.
"You -will- help me Mecca. It may not be important to you, but it's important to me," she pouted slightly as she tried to figure out a way to get him out of bed. Looking down at Scim a smirk slipped across her lips and she slipped off the bed. Smirking more, she reached out and grabbed the covers. "If I can't appeal to your sense of comapassion, then I'll appeal to your sense of comfort," she smirked and quickly yanked all the covers off the bed and took off down the hall with them, laughing.

Moments later Mecca emerged downstairs with an expression best described as merderous rage on his face. "I don't get it." He said pouring himself some water. "What is important? You may as well be speaking in tongues as I have no idea what on Shutensa you are talking about."

Covet smirked at the look on Mecca's face as he emerged and she finished eating her breakfast. Sighing at his grumpiness, she stirred her hot cereal and crossed her legs beneath the table.
"Christmas is important," she smiled and looked up at him again. "It's a time of the year you spend with friends and loved ones. A bit of warmth during the cold winter. You go around and visit each other and give gifts to show your love for one another. You've really never even heard of it?" she asked, tilting her head to the side, her long hair spilling over her shoulder.

Mecca frowned and sat down, taking a sip of his water. "Hmm, no I haven't heard of it and personally I'm glad. Sounds far too sociable." He said looking up to her with a smirk. he knew he wasn't going to escape having to celebrate the damned thing. "So for this tree, what do we need? We have plenty of trees in the garden."

Covet smirked and shoved her empty bowl away as she sipped some milk "Not those kinds of trees," she smiled and shook her head a little. "A fir tree. One small enough to put in that corner over there," she said nodding to the far corner near one of the front windows. "We can make some decorations for it and maybe we can find something to light it up with. It will look so pretty and cheerful," she smiled brightly, starting to get excited again. "And we'll have to get a wreath for the door and holly and mistletoe and maybe some extra pine branches for the mantle."

Mecca sighed and looked over to the corner as she gestured. "Do they sell these things in the market?" He asked, doing what he could for an easy life. If they sorted it out today he would be able to get back to normal. "When is this day? What kind of presents do I need to buy? Why do you celebrate?" He asked his barrage of questions, actually rather interested in learning more about this custom.

Covet smiled brightly and nodded. "They do. That's why I want to get going. I wanna get there early so that we can get the -best- one," she smiled and bounced her foot in the air excitedly. At his barrage of questions, her smile grew. At least he was showing some interest in it now that she had managed to get him to wake up.
"It's on December 25th and you usually get presents that you think the other shu would like. Something from the heart is usually the best though. Something you've put a lot of thought into," she smiled and stood to rinse out her breakfast dishes. "It's celebrated because during the year, it is easy to forget to appreciate those around you who make your day brighter, to be thankful for their love and support. It's a time of year that gives you a chance to acknowledge all of that in them and let them know that you care."

Mecca smirked and sipped his water. "O.k we can go when I'm done." He said looking out to the growing light. At her further explaination he listened and nodded. It all sounded far too nice and fluffy for his liking. "Surely those you love should know it all the time. You shouldn't need to show it for just one day." He shrugged and took another sip of water. "Seems pointless to me."

Covet smirked and twitched her tail from side to side as she finished washing up and set the dishes off to the side to dry. He never could just leave her explanations as she gave them. Turning she walked over to him and ran her fingers through his soft hair.
"Of course they do, but that's not the point. This day is designed to make them feel special. I mean... you could give them gifts every day to show your appreciation, or even tell them, but eventually they lose their meaning. They're not special anymore and then you have to find a different way to express it. It's like... having too much of a good thing usually ruins it. It becomes routine. Besides... this gives you something to look forward to all year and have a little extra fun with," she smiled brightly and lightly tugged on a lock of his hair. "So... maybe it is pointless, but not everything has to have a point," she smirked and arched her brow a little.
