Every once in a while I think... What if there is nothing that we don't exist what proof is there that we exist? I sit there for hours thinking (well tens of minutes) What if we're not real? Or why I mean why do we exist? but I can't think of for to long or else I forget how the read and write.
Could anybody shed some light on this for me?

You have just experienced what is called The Question of Life.

No real answer, sorry. I just like to keep in mind that matter cannot be created or destroyed, therefore we refute the laws of science. Haha. n__n We're so silly.

yeah I know the whole matter thing but I'm not asking why is there life but why is there anything. not just life even if there was no life why would there still be matter and would it actually be there?

Define "real". If it can be experienced, that's real enough for me.

I moved this thread into theology and religion [new forum], threads like this are more questioning the existence that is theology/religion.

This question comes up to much for people to really answer it.
Beside's, we're to imature as a race to really know anything.
I don't really think that there really is an answer for this question, though.
I believe that we make the answer what we want it to be.
But I, myself, don't have a theory for this.

Well. We personify things through our words, terms, actions, and feelings (for the most part). It's my personal belief that the 'proof' of you existing, of your reality.. is within yourself. You can define yourself, and 'experience' yourself. By our human definitions ( the majority of the human definitions really) You are both Real and Exist.

Tis' my theory, despite how rather lame it is.

Yes...You are being overdramatic about existance.

How do YOU know you exist? You are thinking! You have a concious mind therefore you MUST exist, if not you would not be thinking! "I think therefor I am."

Step one complete, you do in fact exist.

How do you know we are real? Well what IS real? That's subjective I suppose but I KNOW that we experience the world we live in.

We are hardly living if we are incapable of observing the world in which we live.

We observe, therefore we observe existance, we exist, because we thing. AND SO ON!

We can only validate things through experience. Through our observation we are capable of forming opinions, bias, thoughts etc. We allow ourselves to trust other people's observations, because sometimes they make sense....or in the case of other things (*cough*god*cough*) we blindly believe them with no logical reason...mostly because people "more knowledgeable than I" have told them so.

Oh well...

You think therefore you am.

Also, though, think of this.
If there is no proof we do exist,
Then there would be no proof we don't exist.
But if there is proof we exist,
Then we will have the answers that we don't exist,
If that is what one chooses to think.

But I think that is very intentionaly over complicating something that is very simple.

stare My friend and I have THE biggest discussions on this topic, and usually our heads just end up exploding. Questions like;
"When does the universe end?"
"Does it have to end?"
"What is beyond the nothingness"
"Is there such thing as nothing"
"If the world is on a continual timeloop of space, what is outside the loop?"

xd Just many questions to make ones head explode. Those are rhetorical questions to by the way. But im sure we exist because, as some have posted before "I think therefore I am". What could be more real then concious thought? Its just complicated and should probably be left alone, in fear of many exploding brains. Its hard to try and imagine 'nothing'. talk2hand

I always get kinda depressed and confused on these topics, so I don't think about it that much. Well, the end of the usiverse can be debated safely.
