Just a quick word of warning, some people may find this story disturbing or offensive. Some people have read up to this far, and said it was good, and also disturbing. Consider yourselves warned...

If you find it disturbing and have nightmares or something, don't blame me, it's your own fault for ignoring the warning...

Heresy Of Hitler's Nazis

Chapter 1

"HEIL HITLER!"

The salute followed up the ranks of our arade ground. The only place we can truly do this, with the right amount of room. All of us, lined up, saluting the Swastika. This was our way of tribute to Herr Hitler, the man that is to bring all of Germany to glory!

"HEIL HITLER!"

A second shout, out of the three that is required. I smile at the flag, proudly showing my nazi allegiance. This concentration camp, Sachsenhausen, was my life, and all I worked for was to beat down the Jews. I lived for this job, and loved every moment of it. After all, we didn't kill them. We simply pumelled them into line. Fine, some would say it is abuse, I say it is necessary, to stop the filth-ridden scum from disturbing the peace of our streets.

"HEIL HITLER!"

The third and final shout. We all siled to each other, strict discipline being the only thing stopping us from talking. We look at each other and grin. We have a plan for tonight. After the salute, we all get some free time, and during this free time, my friends and I all gather together to discuss tonights plans.

"So, what are we gonna do tonight?"

My question was quickly answered by Borgen, my close friend who was organising this little trip.
"We're going to take a look at the science labs. I know someone who works there, and he said it's fascinating. Sounds like a good learning experience, as well as a chance to get out of here for a few minutes."

We all agreed. After all, science was something that had fascinated me for years. The only job I would take other than this would be a scientist...

Chapter 2

"Well, this place seems interesting..."

We had stopped outside the labs, our car pulling up in front of the door. We climbed out, all 6 of us, me, Borgen, Schaeffer, Pfizer, Neuberger and Schlosser. We walked up to the door, and showed the passes we had been given. We walked through the door, and Borgen's scientist friend, Kellerman stepped out of a door to meet us.

"Guten Tag, Borgen, Schaeffer, Pfizer, Neuberger, Schlosser, and Richter. This is our science laboratory. Please follow me."

We followed Kellerman, and came across a lot of interesting things. Unfortunately, I annot describe them, they were classified information, but then he stopped outside one door. He turned and looked at us.

"This is the door to our most secret experiments. Only with a card like mine, will the door open. The card slides in here, and I need to enter a combination."

He slides the card into a slot, and types in a combination on a keypad. He smiles as the door unlocks, and walks inside.

"You are very priveleged to be allowed in here. This is our highest security area, where most experiments take place. You should be proud."

We walk inside, and are met with a gruesome sight... All around the room, are children, all mutilated and carved up. One of these so-called experiments involved two twin children. The scientists had ripped skin off their back, and connected the two people's veins to each other! They were handcuffed to chairs, and were being monitored by a scientist with a notepad, scribbling dwn details... Everywhere I looked were more scenes of mutilation and butchery, all in the name of science. I couldn't take any more. I ran out of the room and threw up on the floor.

"HOW CAN YOU DO THAT? THEY'RE CHILDREN!"

My voice echoed down the corridor, and Kellerman stepped out of the room to me.

"How can we do what? You cannot speak of what you saw. And anyway, they are only Jewish... you can't honestly be thinking of their feelings can you? they're Jews, they have no feelings."

I look up into his face, my face filled with hate.

"You're one sick mother f****r... I hope you die!"

Kellerman just laughs, and calls two security guards to escort me out of the building. The last thing I hear before I am taken out of the building are the words...

"We all die one day, Richter! Even you!"

As soon as I arrive back at Sachsenhausen, I am dragged to my bed, where I sleep fitfully, having nightmares of little Jewish children locked up in a science lab...

Chapter 3

I wake up, sweating, cold. My friends are already up and out of bed. Borgen comes over to me, as he noticed I am awake.

"Man, Richter, what's wrong with you? You shouldn't have ran out like that... I was disgusted by it too, but I didn't throw up all over myself. I just hope we don't get into any trouble over this..."

I start to sit up in bed, then reply.

"Listen, I couldn't help it. That wasn't just discusting, it was... unnatural, blasphemy, disturbing and just immoral! How can they do that to them? They are only children!"

Borgen walks away for a moment, then comes back with a plate full of food. Bacon, eggs and sausages.

"Here, eat this. You should feel a bit better. You must be hungry, after you emptied your stomach last night."

I look at the food, but I can't help but think of those poor children. I'm ravenous, yet cannot eat.

"I'm sorry Borgen... I'm not hungry... I can't eat, not after what I saw last night... Better not to have anything to puke up, right?"

I see sympathy in Borgen's eye, then he simply places the plate down next to my bed. He walks out, and leaves me alone for a bit. As I lie there, I think about things, and realize it woud be foolish not to eat. People die all the time, right? We're fighting a war, and we should do everything we can to win this war...

Half an hour later, Borgen walks back into my room. he sees me getting dressed, and the empty plate of food on the floor, barely a crumb left. He was right, I am hungry! He simply smiles and carries the plate out, leaving me to get the rest of my uniform on.

Later in the day, we all head out for our daily duties. As I try to keep the Jews in order, I realise i'm only doing ths half-heartedly. I used to be one that was living to punish theJews, but now I only feel sympathy for them. I can't punish them... It's us that should be punished... The sound of a car horn brings me back to my senses, and I look to see Dr Kellerman driving a van. He stops and two men in white labcoats step out. They take the coats off and throw them into the back of the van, revealing normal clothes. They walk over to a group of Jewish children, and pick a few out of the crowd. I start to feel sick again. This is what they were leading them to... I leave my post and walk over to the van.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? These children do not deserve what you are going to do! What you are doing is sick and immoral! Experiments on children is just wrong!"

The two scientists looked at each other, then one pulled a baton out of his pocket. He tried to hit me with it, but I blocked the blow, only to recieve a blow on the back of the head from another baton, knocking me unconcious.

I woke up in my bed, to see a furious Borgen waiting for me.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING?"

I tried to answer, but the words wouldn't come.

"YOU JUST GOT THE ENTIRE GROUP IN TROUBLE! IF YOU HAD ONLY KEPT YOUR BLOODY MOUTH SHUT WE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS MESS!"

Once again, words failed me, I was trying to fight back tears. Borgen is truly a fearsome sight to behold when he is angry.

"YOU IDIOT!"

Finally, I managed to speak.

"Listen... I couldn't help myself... I thought it would just be me in trouble anyway... I was trying to stop more people being killed in such a horrible manner as we saw last night!"

Borgen listens, then tries to smile. It isn't coming easily, but he manages.

"Listen, Richter. You've gone and got us all in big trouble, but I understand. I would have probably done the same thing, after seeing last night's events, but still... We're all in deep s**t because of you!"

A letter slides under the door. we look at it, then Borgen picks it up. He reads it, then looks at me, his expressions showing that we are indeed in deep s**t. He clears his throat, then...

"We are to see Anton Kaindl... The Commandant..."

Chapter 4

We walked into the room. I was surprised to find the other 4 there, waiting for us. Schaeffer, Pfizer, Neuberger and Schlosser looked at me with disdain. They clearly thought I had let them down in some way. Kaindl looked at me, then shouted.

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? You have just let the Jews know what the scientists are doing! You idiot! That is top secret material, and you go and shout it at the top of your f***ing lungs! Bloody idiot! But, all 6 of you have commited the crime of setting eyes upon top secret experiments. Therefore, all 6 of you, are sentenced to death. I will not have you killed here and now, but there is a set of holding cells in the camp. I will have you placed there. You will be held there for a week, and then you will be executed by hanging. I hope you dumb f**ks are going to think about what you've done. This information cannot be allowed to leak."

We all just stood and stared at him, dumbstruck. All of a sudden, Schaeffer exploded with anger.

"WHAT THE F**K DO YOU MEAN BY THAT? WE AREN'T TO BLAME! THEY ARE!"

He pointed at Borgen and I. Kaindl just laughed.

"No, Schaeffer, you are to blame. You saw the experiments. You saw classified information. For that, you cannot be allowed to live... It is out of my hands. All 6 of you are to be executed."

He clapped his hands twice, and 6 big security guards walked in. They grabbed us, and dragged us all down to the holding cells. We tried to escape their clutches, but they held tighter the more we struggled. They threw us into a cell each. The cells were locked, and the security left.

The cells were dingy, damp and full of bugs. The bed, if you could call it that, was probably full of lice. The only toilet was a bucket in the corner of the cell, half full...

Day 1 of imprisonment... The security haven't been in to check on us, just people giving us food. We only recieve food one at a time. I kill time during the day by scratching at places the lice have infested...

Day 2 of imprisonment... Still no security presence. Just the people giving food. We debate about whether there is life after death... Borgen complains about the lice, nothing is done...

Day 3 of imprisonment... Borgen is the only one not talking... I think he may be thinking, he never could talk and think at the same time... I wonder what he's thinking about...

Day 4 of mprisonment... The time is drawing nearer. I've nearly lost hope of escaping somehow. I talk with the others. We all try and console each other. Somehow, it seems easier to accept death, now that I know i'll be dying with my friends by my side...

On day 5, when we were being given our food, A struggle broke out outside one of the cells, Must be Borgen, maybe this is what he was thinking about... The person who was giving Borgen his food ran away. The sound of a squeaky gate followed, and a deep voice shouted in celebration. Borgen had escaped... Judging by the sound, he helped another of us escape... and another... another... then the next... finally, I was rescued.

"We wouldn't leave you behind. Come on, we're running away."

I walk out of the cell and punch the air. I'm free!

Quietly, we sneak our way out of the holding cells. No guards... We walk out of the building, still no guards... it's dark. We timed this escape well... I look around and see no shapes in the shadows. We sneak through the darkness, melting into the shadows. We're getting closer to a full escape...

We come to the gates of Sachsenhausen, and walk out... No more of that job as a guard! Finally, I felt truly free... but we weren't out of the woods yet...

Chapter 5.

I spin round quickly as I hear a tower guard shout something... A spotlight comes sweeping towards us.

"F**k, I should have remembered we had those guys..."

Borgen looks at me, and then puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, Richter... We have something we can escape in..."

He pulls me into a hedge, where we hide from the spotlight. The others have all hidden aswell. As soon as the light has swept out of the way, we all crawled out of our hiding places, and ran, following Borgen. He leads us to a hidden spot, where a Jeep was parked. We all climbed into the Jeep, and pulled up the canvas cover, Then sped down a track through the trees. Borgen was driving. No sooner had we cleared the trees, than we saw the camp. The gates opened and another two Jeeps came out. They started to chase after us. Borgen noticed them in the rear-view mirror.

"Look under the seats!"

I was the first to look under. My hands met wood and metal. I lifted it out and looked at what it was. A Gewehr 41 rifle... I checked the chamber, and saw there was no ammunition in it.

"Borgen! Where's the ammunition?"

He replied quickly, after all, our lives were at stake here.

"Check under the other seats!"

Pfizer looked, and saw the ammunition box. I looked at it, then opened it. I pulled out a round, and inserted it into the rifle. I took aim, then fired. A deafening bang filled my ears, and when I looked, nothing else seemed to have happened. I had missed. I inserted another bullet into the chamber. Took aim, fired. A hit. The tyre of one of the jeeps collapsed and started flopping about uselessly. Another bullet, another aim... This time for the wheel next to it. Missed. Again. Missed. I inserted another bullet. This time, I kissed it.

"Third time lucky..."

I inserted it into the chamber, then took careful aim... I fired, and once again, I missed.

"S**T!"

I pulled out another round, inserted it into the rifle, and aimed again... This time it hit! The first Jeep started to swerve, and it collided with the second Jeep! This was better than we could have hoped! They were both driven off the road, and into the forest at the side.

I look out there, hoping they are okay, for after all, I am no killer, and don't want anyone to die by my hand. Borgen lets out a whoop of excitement, Pfizer hugs me, and the other 3 congratulate me on a good aim. I look out the front window, past Borgen and Schlosser, who were in the front seats, and watch the road pass us by. I can't help but wonder where we are going, but my thought are interrupted by Borgen.

"So, just where are we headed?"

I simply look at him and laugh, realizing this sheer coincidence. Everyone else looks at him, stunned, until he says:

"Well, I just wanted to know if you guys yhad anywhere particular in mind. Especially since we are on the run now. If anyone knows of any good hiding places, you'd better name them now!"

Neuberger laughs, and when we all look at him, he simply shrugs and mutters under his breath. I have a feeling he has an idea, but is a bit reluctant to tell us it...

CHAPTER 6... FINALLY!

We found ourselves on a road at the side of a cliff. The cliff drops off into a very scenic view of more hills, and a few forests. We were all in the jeep, having a short rest on our journey. We had been driving all night, and, to be honest, Borgen was tired. He wakes up and looks round to the back. There we all are, discussing what we should do. For some reason, Neuberger doesn't say anything. He just sits back with his hat covering his face. Occasionally we stare at him during the conversation.

"Another camp? No... that wouldn't work, they would be onto us faster than you can say 'Deserters'..."

Schlosser's idea was cut off by someone saying something unexpectedly.

"So... you came up with any ideas yet?"

We all stare at Borgen, startled by his question.

I reply to him first.

"Nope, no ideas yet. We have some ideas, but none are really sensible... We all thought you were still asleep. Good morning!"

He simply smiles and looks around the group.

"I'm sure somebody here has a genius idea. I've done all the thinking this far, and my brain needs rest. Just come up with an idea, fast!"

We all stare at him, not realising how much he had been thinking about the escape, planning every aspect.

"So... the only thing you haven't planned is where we would go when we escape?"

This came from Neuberger. For once, he was contributing! We all turn our heads to him, to listen to what he has to say.

"What are you all looking at me for? I never have any ideas. Well, I have one idea, but I don't think you would like it..."

We stare at him as he reaches one hand into his pocket, and we follow his hand as he pulls out a cloth badge... The Star of David, symbol of the Jews...
