The night is stormy, and the House is quiet. Eyes drift through the darkness, eyes that suggest sinister intent. The House FEELS scared - especially to its children. Something is very wrong, and there is the sense that the House needs help from its children. The Dark is coming, and the House must have those to fight it. The manifest of the House is already pacing in the main room - this is the first time he has ever been seen. And he looks worried as heck.

User Image

He continued to pace. Back, forth, back, forth, back - Stop, turn, pace sideways. Pace up and down in midair. He was as nuts as the House he had become - something comforting and familiar to the children. The only ones who could see him for what he was. Any Parents walking in would see something akin to a shadow - but no true form.

Thank you Syrie!

Miel toddled along the lengthy hallways, his pastel teal plushie - Octi - held securely in his hands. He'd grown, yes, but Octi remained his companion and confidante, and he refused to go anywhere without the plush. Ever.

His caretaker - Syrie - was still back in the room they shared. The kitsune had fallen asleep over his paperwork, and was zonked out so much so that he'd not even stirred when Miel started tugging at his arm. When the man hadn't woken, Miel had hissed and spent time decimating the leg of a wooden chair.

Anger spent, the kit had wandered the room irritably - he didn't want to be there ...but somewhere else. The House was calling! Miel slipped out of the room and crept down the hall - the door to his room had been locked, but the House was always willing to help.

The kitten's tail poofed as he stepped into the room; the House was aggitated! That was scary! He mewled unhappily to Octi and curled himself into a chair.

Kimi the Great

Caesar had been in the midst of eating the insides of his pet bag of skittles, Heinrich when he felt the House call. He looked up suddenly, eyes wide, and ears perked up. Then, when he recognized the feeling, he shrunk into a little Caesar burrito, wrapped inside his orange blanket.

Kimi, who had been watching him, was perplexed. Why was he acting strange? She walked over to him and picked him up.

"What's wrong?" she asked him.

Caesar didn't say anything, but pointed towards the door to leave their room.

"You want to go outside?" she asked.

He nodded his head.

"You need to potty?"

He shook his head violoently.

"Then where do you want to go?" she asked.

He softly wriggled out of her grasp and toddled towards the door, meaning for her to follow him. He started to walk a little ahead of Kimi, but soon became too scared to do this. He ran back to her and grabbed her hand, leading her to the place the House was calling him to.

Deshi and Echo were in the kitchen. Echo was sitting on the floor and Deshi was digging hopelessly for something to drink.

Echo blinked and stared around the room as she suddenly heard something. She whimpered slightly as she tugged at Deshi's pajama pants leg.

"Jeebus, where's the sodas? Isn't there anything good in this house? Oh, what's wrong, Echo?"

"The House..." she echoed.

"What about the house? Is it calling again? Is something wrong?"

"The house is calling. Somthing is wrong..."

Deshi picked up the girl. "Alright, don't panic!" she said, begining to become more paranoid than Caesar. "Where do you have to go?"

She pointed to the doorway of the kitchen closest to her destination. "Go." and with the point of her finger she began leading Deshi through the house.

Kyler had slipped away from Drac. She needed to leave for a bit anyway.

Coming to the hall he heard something odd and went to investigate. Usually he kept to himself, but this time ... this time he was interested to see who it was. He knew the man, but didn't show himself, content to stay where he was. He didn't like crowds and he knew one was in the making.

Iole watched Nanashi nod at his desk, eyes sharp, small body very still. The House had suggested he sleep, silently and insidiously. Iole knew this. She had asked it to.

When she was quite sure he was asleep, she hauled herself up on the side of the chair and let herself down to the floor, small wings flapping determinedly. This she was going to do all by herself. She held the tail of her dragon plushie between her teeth and balanced herself against the wall, taking shaky small steps until she grew tired of this new walking thing and went back to all fours. Her progress was faster after that. The House wanted her to go and see it, and see it she would.

She noticed the movement of the snake first, the red and white colors undulating with its progress towards the door. It startled her, for up until now he had made no motion or demand on her. Sleeping comfortably and showing only minor uneasiness from time to time. But the snake was moving, and so was he. Slowly, inching along as his tiny body could inch.

"What are you up to, huh?" she inquired, reaching down to pick him up.

The snake smacked her nose warningly. Perhaps not an intentional aim, as he was too young, but the reproof was genuine. He gazed at her with an expression of reproach that was way too old for his face.

Then he continued his progression. Shaking her head, Chae sighed.

"Allright kiddo. Have it your way." She lifted him up despite his protest and walked towards the door. She was sure he'd make sure she knew which way to go.

Nikko gave up, rolling her eyes as she dragged the child down the hall. At first, he was carried quietly in her arms, yelping every now and then as he noticed a certain snot-bubble-y ferret dash in the shadows of the hallways. By the time they began to reach their destination- whatever THAT was- he began to wail and writhe so much that he simply had to be put down. He gnawed, distressed, on his belove`d pink squeaky toy. In her free hand his 'mother' clutched a small neckace, as a 'just-in-case'. This was beginning to become such a bother... you played nice to him , and he only played offhis pity and acted worse. If you would be mean- which she never would be, everever! po' babyyy- he'd shell up even more. Depressed Ky'thris are a lose-lose situation; especially when they have especially shrill keels. "Which way now, Lear?" She questioned, rubbing an eye sleepy. Lear sniffled, taking his time answering as he sorted out the 'feeling'.
The House shook slightly.
"T-that way..."
"Oh dear."
Off they jogged, into a room already occupieed by half a dozen others that she didn't recognize. Hm, holing yourself up like that'll do that. She vaguely remembered something about sammitches on a kitchen run...
Nikko scooped up her little boy promptly, hugging him comfortingly for a few more moments. She wasn't sure whether or not she'd get to stay, or if she'd want to. Eh, all in due time.
SQUEE! SNAKEYS!
Goneril flitted in after them, Lear giving a whimper. It began to pace this way and that about the pair's feet, anxious for something to play with or do.

[Parents:]

There is a vague shadow in the middle of the room, seeming to be "pacing" back and forth. Just a shadow on the wall. Could be anything. But the feeling in the room is one of INTENSE fear. Almost as if one were in the presence of something that was going to eat you, no matter what you did to placate it. This feeling didn't diminish. And seemed to suggest very loudly that any parents inside the room remain quiet.

[Children:]

The man paced back and forth in that manner for a few moments, muttering to himself. His eyes were changing color - as was his hair. Nothing was constant. But there was the feeling of comfort in the room, relief, almost. He even smiled at some of the children. After a few moments, he stopped, and turned to those assembled, starting to speak.

[Parents:]

There was only the sound of the wind when the figure stopped. Wind, and a chill as cold as dry-ice on skin. Nothing comforting, nothing good. Actually, downright creepy and very scary.

[Children:]

His voice sounded worried. Rushed. Clipped and concise.

"I bring news of great misfortune, my children."

His voice was also something of a comfort. A warm blanket to their minds.

"There have been forces set in motion that I cannot protect you - nor myself - from. These forces are beginning to act upon my very walls. I have called you here to ask your help. You have the power to use your minds - and to use the gifts I give you - to fight off these dark forces where you find them. One of these darklings is already amongst us - though it is not apparent which one of you carries this seed of pure evil. I only pray that it is not one of you in this very room. At all costs - destroy the dark creatures where you find them. You will know how when you see them. Please - I need your help, my children. I have provided for you to the best of my ability - but that is running thin now. Soon enough, I will be able to protect you no longer. Fight and destroy these creatures, my loves. Your very survival depends upon it."

[All:]

And with that, the man simply vanishes - dissapating into smoke, then drifting away. Something very strange is going on...

Deshi and Echo had arrived in the room just in time to see the strange shadow. Deshi frowned at it for a moment, placing Echo on the ground, then looked from Echo back to the wall. "Gee, how welcoming..."

"Shhh..." hissed Echo as she listened to the person before her speak. When it was over and he had disappeared she blinked a few times, nodded in determination and reached up to Deshi to be held.

Deshi blinked. "I don't get it... What's going on again?"

Echo promptly muted Deshi and the grumpy parent picked up her child and marched from the room.

Kamu rolled over onto all fours, sniffing at the night air. Her eyes go very wide, and she senses something within the House. It's speaking to her, but not in a language. She stuffs a bit of blanket in her mouth and chews thoughtfully, thinking about how to get out of the room. She'll need to awaken the Tailless One to open the blasted door.

That decided, the little halfbreed clambered down from her bed and over to mahii's. The woman was asleep, snoring softly, all her blankets askew on her bed. Kamu woke her up in the only way the little girl knew. She bit her shoulder.

"HOLY MOTHER FUH---kamu...right. what is it?" mahii was used to being shredded. Not the healthiest life. But she promised to take care of the little darling. Kamu pointed at the door and mahii rolled her eyes and donned the protective leather gear to pick up Kamu with. She carried the little one to the door and opened it, but at that moment, Kamu wriggled out of her grasp and bolted pretty damned fast for a baby down the hallway. "KAMU! HEY!" mahii slouched and started after the baby.

Kamu was making her way to the main room as fast as her little knees could scuttle her. The Tailless One was unnecessary at this junction. She made it to the main room and peered around. What was going on tonight?

She saw a man pacing the room and sensed something wrong with him. He imparted a message as mahii caught up to her and Kamu hissed quietly. mahii leaned down to flatten Kamu's crackling fur and for once didn't get attacked. Kamu was ready for whatever they could throw at her.

Sly sighed as he followed Cat and Ramona down the hallway to the main room. He wasn't sure what was going on but Cat had said something he didn't catch, picked up Ramona and left.

He trailed behind them into the main room. Sly stared off to where everyone else seemed to be looking, but he saw naught.

Cat and Ramona however, followed something with their eyes. He felt something change in the air and moved closer to his chargers. He'd hope that someone soon would tell him what was going on.

After all was said and done by the apparition (of sorts)... well, Nikk was left out and confused. She had no idea what the hell was going on, to say the least- and by the looks of Lear she really didn't want to know.
Well, it's not like the kid ever acted like there was anything bright and shiny and all happy about whatever situation they were in, but still.

He clung to her knees, biting fiercely into his toy. He let out a rattling, hollow moan as everything was once again quiet. He didn't like that man. Not at all. Especially becauseof hwat he had to say.
...why couldn't everyone just be nice for once? His little world was so bleak...
The wail quickly skipped up a few frequencies and pealed into a full-fledged toddler shriek as a big ol' adult in the room spat out a near-expletive. Nikk held her ears, bopping the boy on the head lightly. "Lear! Quiet! What's wrong now?" He chewed on the squeaky toy faster, clinging to her ankles. Twiddling a pinky in her ear for a moment, the girl stooped down and patted him on the head gently. The toddler was momentarily soothed by this, fortunately, and for a moment brought himself out of angst-ville for a mommy huggle. 'Cause they're disgusting softies like that.
"Anyone have an idea on what the hell's goin' on?"
