my band teacher ignors the tubas in are band (im a tuba player to lol) but can any1 else relate to my problem?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 07, 2006 5:53 am

absolutely, i play baritone and its like i dont even exist. when our bd wants me to play he just says trombones and assumes ill play with them. he says its just because he knows that i already can play my part and dont need his help to get better because im capalbe of doing it on my own. but it would be nice to have some kind of recognition. ive had the same bd for six years and he has gotten better at telling the difference from a trombone and a baritone, but the low brass are the backbone of the band and without us, theres no music. so shouldnt we get just a little more attention than anyone else?

Wow, I feel sorry for you...

But I can relate... I'm a percussionist, and last year, I played in concert band, before switching to baritone, and believe me... we did alot of sitting around and not playing. stare

yeah, same with us. we wouldn't have to sit around so long if the other sections would learn their parts. Souza wouldn't have to spend so much time on them and we might actually get a chance to play.

I agree with all of you
In our school band the low brass was always ignored crying
It sucked being the only trombone, because sometimes i needed help and could not get it
the tuba was good, but for the largest instrument in the band, he was ignored more than i was.

the only trombone!? wow, i just cant stand to hear that the trombones are dying out. it seems like every band i hear of has a max of 5 trombones.
i feel so sorry for you not having another trombone to talk with and get advice from crying if you ever need help just ask me and ill do my best 3nodding i already tutor three trombones so i should be able to help.

did you really? i think my bd would hit me over the head with my tuba if i did that sweatdrop instead of playing wrong notes, practice until you reach perfection and your teacher will notice. one of my freshman has been practicing with me for four months everyday after school for three hours and hes has gotten much better. Souza actually stopped in the middle of our practice to compliment him. i was so proud heart

Thanks,
We used to have 3 trombones, but i was the only one that stayed a trombone, one moved to baritone/euphonium, and the other a tuba, so that we would have a larger variety of lower brass since there was only the three of us
Every once and a while though they would return to trombones for a practice or two, so i did not feel so lonely. heart
I wish i had the time to continue playing, i miss my instrument, even though it is right next to me.
Stupid college exams and 24 hour quiet time! evil

THERE ARE ONLY THREE LOW BRASS PLAYERS!?!?!? OMG!!! *has heart attack and dies*

actually, i think that it is actually best that you have atleast one person/instrument. that way the band has a variety of the instruments. and im sorry that you have to take exams, i know they're a pain in the neck.
