As a full moon hung over a rather desolate area of the planet, a young pilot just worked on starting a fire, using a part of his zoid as shelter from the heavy rain that came down. By some freak chance, his redler had been struck by lightning, forcing him to the ground before he reached the next city.

At the moment, he wasn't sure of the extent of the damage to his zoid. He also didn't want to work on any sort of repairs until the rain has lightened up a little.

But for now, the pilot just did what he could to stay warm while he waited. With the fire blazing before him, he also went ahead and heated up a small meal of instant noodles for himself. It most likely would be quite awhile before he had another chance to eat anyway.

"Well this sucks... Stuck in the middle of nowhere in this weather..." he muttered to himself.

Strangely enough, Viveka found herself out in this middle of no where. Normally, she was hard-pressed to pilot in the rain, especially this heavy, since the Raptor's sensors didn't like it much. And turning sucked, as well. Its claws, which usually gripped at the earth with ease, found themselves slipping on mud and other unknowns. Grumbling, she nearly turned back to town. And yet she didn't. Something told her she wouldn't like herself for this choice later.

Moving further through the blanketing rain had her surprised, however. Was that a Zoid in the distance? A Redler? A flying Zoid. The pilot glared angrily at the sight. Speeding up, despite the Raptor's protest, she found herself closer and closer until a light could be seen. Whether this other pilot was expecting company or not, he had it.

After a few minutes had passed by, Hawk's meal was fully cooked. He let out a small sigh as he shifted closer to the fire. This whole situation certainly didn't make him very happy at this point in him. So in a rather foul an soggy mood, he sat there, silently eating his noodles.

With a flash of lightning, he noticed something headed in his direction. Narrowing his eyes at the sight, he stared out at the approaching figure to try and make out what it was. From the looks of it, it appeared to be a small dinosaur type zoid. A few moments later, the exact type became more clear.

A Rev Raptor. Though, now the question was what it was doing out in the downpour. Shaking his head to himself, he glanced up at the dragon shielding him.

Well, it seemed unless she made a move now, she wouldn't get much attention. Not that she really wanted it. Viveka wasn't a social person. She was merely looking to down as many arial Zoids as possible. But in this weather, a battle would be far from ideal. Ah, well. Might as well 'make friends.' She scoffed at the thought.

Lowering the Raptor's head, she jumped from the cockpit, landing as cleanly as was possible with the wind and wet earth. Yet, ever wary, she took her time moving into company with the other pilot. She was a good few feet off when she first spoke. "Mind if I join you?" she questioned idly, not sounding overly excited, but sounding polite, to say the least. One of her better traits was the ability to act coridally with others, despite her true feelings for that person. Then again, she couldn't say she'd developed any opinion on this new face just yet.

One thing was for certain, if the approaching pilot was looking for a fight, he or she won't be getting one out of him right now. Though, if the weather had been more ideal, he was sure that he would be able to win such a battle against the Rev Raptor.

Glancing up as the pilot approached him, Hawk raised an eyebrow somewhat, then nodded slightly. He wasn't sure what she wanted, but he supposed that some company wouldn't be too bad now.

"Go ahead. Might I ask what you're doing out here though?"

It was just a question out of curiousity, and his tone showed that.

Before answering, Viveka moved to sit. She was sure to give the other pilot his due room, as well as the space she always expected for herself when she was around others. Watching the fire for a moment, she sighed, debating how to answer. Truthfully, there wasn't much of a reason behind her journey in the rain. It'd just been a whim. Shrugging slightly, she looked off into the rainy distance.

"No real reason I'm out here," she muttered. The rain didn't do much to find her a better answer, so she returned her mis-matched eyes to the other pilot. "I'm Viveka, by the way." She didn't offer a hand or make any friendly gesture. It wasn't her style. Instead, she merely looked him in the eye, awaiting a fair responce. A name, perhaps? Nothing more was required.

Blinking at her answer, Hawk shrugged slightly and took in another mouthful of noodles and listened to her introduction. After swallowing it, he went ahead and returned the gesture.

"I'm Marendithas Hawklight, but you can just call me Hawk."

Nodding along with this, he glanced over to the side. The rain wasn't letting up at all, meaning he still couldn't really check up on his zoid yet. Pushing this to the side for the time being, he looked back at Viveka.

"You hungry at all? I should have another thing of in my bag," he said, motioning to the backpack next to him.

Viveka caught the name at first, but quickly dismissed the more difficult full name for the easier nickname. Yet, she found herself almost cringing at the obvious bird motif here. Well, he did pilot a Redler, after all. And on cue, she looked up to the towering dragon that shielded them from the rain. A careful bit of thought was all that kept her from glaring at the arial Zoid. After all, if she saw anyone glaring angrily at her beloved Zoid, it was likely she'd snap at them. She wasn't sure if he was like that, too.

Upon hearing the question, she finally detached her gaze from the Redler and returned it to Hawk. She shook her head slightly, but the motion was so brief that it was probably unnoticable. So, words followed the action. "No, I'm alright," she responded, nearly thinking to say 'thanks anyway,' but the familiar force of her own habit kept the extra words from actually being spoken.

Nodding slightly, Hawk brought his gaze down to the little styrofoam cup that held his small meal. From the way Viveka kept her answers rather terse, it seemed that she wasn't too much of a talker. This brought up his initial curiousity to what had brought her out here in the first place.

Placing down the cup of noodles, he was about to speak up once more, but a bolt of lightning came crashing down fairly close to where the two zoids were parked. The loud roar of the thunder completely cut off whatever he had started to say.

Twitching at this, he stared out at where the lightning struck down for a moment before shaking his head.

"Damned weather.. at this rate I'll never get off the ground," he grumbled.

Setting her head on her hand, Viveka watched his reaction to the storm with an almost amused expression. Lightning and thunder had never much bothered her. And yet, in her slight amusement, she found something to scowl about. "Why would you want to?" She muttered. Whether he heard or not, she didn't much care, but it'd been so muffled by her hand on her cheek that she figured the later. Shutting her eyes momentarily, she mused. Why would anyone in their right mind ever want to fly? It was unnatural for humans to do such a thing.

Yet, wasn't it just as unnatural for humans to be piloting any sort of giant machine? She didn't ponder it long. Glancing back to her Rev Raptor, she sighed. The weather was getting worse. At this rate, her chances of leaving anytime she pleased were slim. The Zoid would probably fight, not wanting to move in this storm. Ah, well.

Turning his head towards Viveka, the redler pilot sighed and shook his head.

"Well, I do pilot a flying zoid after all. I know I could just walk to the nearest city with it, but it'd be a heck lot faster if I could fly. Redler's aren't exactly meant to walk around anyway."

To him, it'd be like if a bird tried to hop around everywhere it went. What was the point of wings if you just stuck to the ground anyway? Thinking to himself a bit he added, "Along with that, my zoid might have taken some damage from the lightning. It could be awhile before I can really check it up and do any quite repairs."

He glanced back up towards the cockpit of his zoid. The redler remained silent as usual, but he caught a slight glint come from its eyes.

"I see," Viveka answered, more out of will to humor the other pilot. Truly, she didn't quite see, at all. Flying. It just didn't make sense, no matter how many times she wrapped her brain around it. The more she thought, the more she felt a warm anger grow in her chest. Glaring into the fire, she thought maybe the blaze could reflect her feelings. Yet, all she saw was fire.

Covering her face with her hand, she sighed. "The Zoids could just as easily be struck sitting here, don't you think?" She mused through gloved fingers. After all, they were still metal, right? Shutting her eyes, she relaxed into the support of her hand and arm, letting out a soft sigh. Maybe this little rain-drenched jaunt hadn't been such a good idea, after all. That or maybe the heat from the fire was making her sick, despite the cold bite of the rain all around them. She didn't much care to ponder it.

Quite unaware of Viveka's hatred for the aerial zoids, Hawk just idly prodded the blaze to keep it alive and warm. At her remark, he glanced up towards her and nodded slightly.

"Yeah, but operating in this rain isn't going to be easy either. Though... if things don't clear up soon, I.. or we might have to try getting out of here anyway. You don't happen to know the directions to the nearest city would you?"

Shivering slightly, he inched a little closer to the flames and let out a small sigh.

Viveka's hand moved from covering her face to holding up her chin. She looked contemplative for a moment. Sure, she'd just come from the town. And while she wasn't quite versed in this area of the world, it would've been rather easy to find her way back under normal circumstances. However, the weather might prove a hinderance to her directional skills. Well, she wouldn't just up and blurt out such a weakness, no matter how small it was.

"Yeah," To solidify her words as truth, despite their half-truth nature, she pointed back the way she'd come. At least, seeing where she'd left the Rev Raptor, that direction looked to be where she'd come from. "I just came from town, so if need be we could head back before the storm's finished." Glancing to the Raptor, she sighed. "That is, as long as my Zoid'll cooperate."

"A stubborn one in the rain I suppose," mused Hawk as he nodded slightly. As he had mentioned, his own zoid may not want to move either, but that'd be for a slightly different reason.

"About how far away is town anyway?"

It was fairly obvious that he didn't really want to stay out in this weather for much longer. Even with the fire before him, he was still feeling fairly cold as his silver Redler didn't quite shield him from all the rain that came pouring down. Whenever a strong gust of wind blew in the right direction, he felt the spray of the rain drops against him.
