I wouldn't say so. You can go and learn s**t-hot skillzz but what makes you an art f** is your ingenuity and originality when using them.

Plus, I know a fair few people in art school who can't really draw that well in the conventional manner and who are passing their modules. (not meaning to disparage your drawing of course, seein as that I ain't seen none of it an all.)

I wouldn't think so.
Art college is where you go to learn how to improve your craft. I know people who go to art college who can't draw worth crap. Myself, too, am planning on going to an art college not because I intend a career in it, but because it's something I love. Like taking of Highland dance again despite the fact that I'm now twenty and haven't competed in many a year.

Go to art college. It'll do you good. When you come out, then see how much you've improved. You might be Artfag worthy then!

I'm not ever gonna be artfag worthy though. Don't listen to me. XD

Art schools generally accept a high percentage of applicants because they want your money. The most competetive aspect of getting into art school thati've found is in earning scholarships to pay for them.

you have to learn somewhere, it doesn't have to be art school. Many other universities have art classes that are just fine for the first couple of year when you're shuffling through pre-requisites anyway.

No. Not in the slightest.

I was told I would get a kick out of this thread.
And yes it is quite comical.

You've already been accepted, with "scholarship," to many fine art colleges across America/the world.

Getting into art college is crazy easy. The tricky part is getting that whole career thing afterward.

There are a few elite little programs that only accept 8 people a year and stuff. Those you can't just walk right into, of course. But more often than not those programs are for graduates.

Definately agree.

What's funny, to me, is how so many make such a huge deal about getting into an art school, as if that's what makes you a success. o_O Or it makes you cool or awesome..blah blah blah.
There's too many art schools and people in them for that to be true.

Anywho, don't let not getting into the guild discourage you. Not everyone that's a member now was accepted on their first go.

Being an art f** is harder than getting into art school. As a matter of fact, I've declined several people who had (reportedly) completed art school.

I'd say go for it.

Also, Acrylicana raises a valid point. If you feel that you've improved since you last applied, go ahead and apply again. I was denied on my first application, but I put together a nicer body of work and got accepted on my second try.
