This RP is for Evelyn Kyros's Ever Sacrifice and Cajmera's Safi.

They are in the forest just west of the clearing and south of the mountains, where the river curves to the west.
It had taken almost a month before things had finally started to go well for the chestnut red mare. She had her dark muzzle to the ground, looking for young sprouts that might lay buried under the light frosting of snow and heavy leaf fall. Those plants would be mighty sweet for her taste, but she only needed a few to get over her craving.
The last thoughts in her mind were that of a blue and white wind that had come off as a complete 180 from her other wind friend, Tawali. She snorted angerly at the brief mental image of him dwelling in his own sorrows by a lake shore. The nerve of that guy.
He was indeed the worse side of a Wind, unlike her Tawali. She had to escort him to her two-leggers teepee when a rain storm was making it's way across the lands. If she hadn't, they both would have been soaking wet and cold to boot. Not something wings appreciated.
And her two-legger... Well, she was doing much better, though Ever Sacrifice was still hesistant around the slip of a girl. The mare had to do something so one of her own kind could take better care of her, but who? She was too busy nosing around and thinking of possible two-leggers to notice anyone else that would come near her.

Wintertime...a time when everythin became coated in ice and snow and things settled down from the chaos of the summer. It was a peaceful time, a serene time...but that didn't necessarily mean that Safi appreciated it.
It was actually pretty funny, in one sense. Wings wrapped tightly around his body, Safi crunched through the light covering of snow, his icy blue and white fur blending in with the ground cover as though meant for it. Indeed, one wouldn't be too unreasonable to think that he WOULD be at home; after all, his mother Celendria was almost the patron Soquili of winter, and it was she who had lent him his wintery appearance; however, it had not been accompanied by her love of the season, and he was already feeling more chilled than he would like.
It was for that reason that he was talking instead of flying; the wind was cold today, and if he was using his wings to fly, he couldn't very well use them to wrap up in now, could he?
However, as he walked along and sneezed rather vigorously from the cold, he stopped suddenly, the thought that maybe flight wouldn't be such a bad thing after all crossing his mind as he suddenly came face to side with...that red mare. The mare he'd had an encounter with (if it could really be called an encounter...) and yeah; it hadn't gone well. Maybe he could just sneak away now...
No. No sneaking away. He'd managed to patch things up with Inali, he could do this. He WOULD do this.
Raising his head for self-confidence, he cleared his throat to announce his prescence (if the sneeze hadn't already done so), then made his attempt... "Good afternoon."

Her ear with the feather earrings and studs twitched slightly at the distant sneeze, thought it sounded more like a snort-sneeze. The jingle of her earring caught her attention, still not used to having such accessories on herself. She raised her head and turned, the bracelets making a metalic "tint" with the movement.
She had not expected to layer her icy blue eyes on this stallion again. She was gaping widely in her mind, but she had a cold demeanor towards him. And he thought he could just walk right up to her and expect anything to be different from the last time she ran across him. She did not even know his name, didn't have a moment to ask and was never offered it either. Manners. They were dying hard in the newer generations.
Her eyes showed a very hard glint when she locked with his golden hues. There were sparks fairly flying from that look, and she was certain that that one would have caused him to die right there. But she was a polite girl and would show it to this uncooth rouge. She gritted her teeth and gingerly bowed towards him, never losing her lock on his eyes. "Good afternoon, boy."

Though hate and dislike were emotions Safi had been pretty unfamiliar with before he'd had his little...breakdown, he'd experienced them enough himself since to be able to tell when they were directed at him. Particularly when all to recently he'd been facing an eerily similar look from Inali..or maybe he was just supposed to avoid red mares and never gotten that memo. It was difficult to say.
All of that stuff aside...it was decidely unpleasant to have that feeling aimed at him yet again, and this time he didn't have the luxury of knowing that it was both of their faults as had been the case with Inali. No, scratch that yet again; this mare hadn't known when to leave well enough alone and therefore had no one to blame but herself for what had happened. No one except him, that is.
Wait a minute, why on earth was he having a mental arguement with himself? Obviously because having an oral arguement with himself would be just silly, and-
...Ok, now he was just avoiding the situation. Bad idea. Focus, you ninny!
Acting as though he didn't notice her radiating hostility, he bowed slightly to the red mare, his feathers rustling slightly in the breeze. Damn that breeze was cold.
"Likewise, Miss." Cut the chase, why don't you? "I must admit, it's a bit of a surprise running into you out here; not that I would expect to be overly familiar with your habits anyway, seeing as how we hardly had a chance to exchange such pleasantries last time we spoke. I'll admit that that was my fault, though you happened to catch me at an extraordinarily bad time. Not that that's much of an excuse, but it's the truth." Shrugging his shoulders, he gave her an apologetic smile. Difficult to say how anyone would respond anymore, though, especially strange and hostile mares.

She made sure not to give her back towards this stallion. She did not trust one hair that was on his body and her eyes clearly did speak that, her whole body seemed to hum with that one emotion. Ever was not of the breed to hold grudges, but this cut went too deep for her to just overlook.
She had a coolness over most of her features, though her eyes were the doorway to her soul. And a gentle breeze seemed to emphasis the silence that soon followed Safi's statement of surprise and bad timing. Her eyes narrowed briefly before speaking with choice words slowly, "No, I had not expected to see you. You were the last stallion I had hoped to run across, but you do live up to your breed very well." Winds always seemed so fickle to her. "State your business with me and move on. I don't want to waste my breath."

Ouch. And he hadn't even DONE anything to this mare! And what exactly did she mean by that crack at his breed, anyway? He wasn't really a breed in the pure sense; his mother didn't have wings any more than the red mare did. But he was NOT going to pick a fight. What good would that do him?
Besides, it was his own fault.
"Can't say that I really have any business, or that this was intentional as far as run-ins go. You just happened to be where I was passing." Cocking his head to the side, Safi pondered a bit at her rather brusque comment...then chuckled to himself as he realized that he really didn't have anything more to add! "Since I saw you, I wanted to apologize for last time. I got the distinct impression you weren't pleased with me, a perfectly natural reaction in the circumstances; however, things have changed for me since then, and I like to think I'm less of an a** now."
Not that he could say much, as his own opinion was biased. It was apparent from the mare's body language that she certainly didn't think he'd changed! Well, if she didn't like him, that was perfectly fine. He'd given up trying to be everyone's friend, thank goodness...
"If you still want to grouse about the whole thing, be my guest. But I myself just want you to know that I'm sorry about how I acted last time, and as a peace offering I'll even tell you my name. You don't have to tell me yours, but know that mine is Safi."

Ever snorted loudly, unable to keep her contempt to herself. "'...just happened to be where I was passing.' Heaven forbid that such a coincidence should rain upon our parade. And I cannot accept your apology at this point in time, Safi," she stressed his name with a slight sneer. "I agree the timing was terrible on both our parts, but the Gods know I was only trying to speak to you. My intentions were good, but they were obviously unwelcomed and I was to be punished by your harsh words. Punished so far as to speak clearly out of anger that is uncommon for myself. You, colt, have more to make up than you realize than just the behavior of a stubborn mule."
He had insulted her, turned his back on her, and told her in a nice way to go away. She had known what it was like to need someone who was willing to listen, knew what it was like to feel like there was no one there. And she tried offering an ear to listen to his words. Instead, she ended up almost dumping him in the lake. The intentions were good, but they had not been welcomed then and she was in no mood to offer them to this stallion in the near future.

A mild look on his face, Safi listened politely as the red mare basically threw his apology back in his face. Someone certainly had self-issues, didn't they? To be quite honest, he was somewhat appalled at how seriously she was taking all of this...but then, unless you were in someone else's head you couldn't say what made them do or say what they did.
Still, he couldn't see himself being so in the wrong that he had to commit to some sort of prolonged penance. He had cleansed his conscience by apologizing, and now the ball was in her court where she seemed intent on keeping it. Well, the least he could do was oblige her.
Turning slightly, he once again found himself shrugging his shoulders. "And just as you were only trying to speak to me, so am I now only trying to speak to you. Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn't it?" Smiling wryly, he shook his head. Obviously not enough time had passed for him to be able to make amends. "But as you wish; keep your forgiveness until such a time as you feel it earned. In the meantime, as you wish." If she wanted him gone, then he would leave; it was that simple. He had nothing to keep him here.

She dipped her head to him in a polite manner, her forelock moving gently to show the bright star upon her forehead and masking one of her eyes. He was so ungrateful. Little to no thanks from the last encourter for her even being concerned about his welfare. Nothing. She felt like she should chew on some bark to keep her teeth from grinding, but there was a sugar-sweetness to her tone. "The name is Ever Sacrifice. Remember it, colt. You may depart from my presence. I bid you to leave. Now."
She still would not show her back to Safi, no matter how much she wanted to dismiss him completly from her mind. So she settled on nosing about the ground, looking for more winter sprouts to nibble on, though her eyes were darting every so often for his departure.

...Well, that went well. So well, in fact, that Safi found himself biting the inside of his lip to keep from bursting out laughing. Was this mare...Ever, he reminded himself, truly as unstable as she was acting? Major overkill, girly, and that was a fact.
Still, he managed to keep his expression stoic; so stoic that it in and of itself bordered on comical! Face set, he swept Ever a slight bow. "Your wish is my humble command, your majesty." However, his eyes danced with amusement as he turned and crunched off through the snow. Whoever said that apologizing was good for the soul had to be right; he felt more than pleased with the way that little encounter had gone, thanks much! xd
