Uh, the point of this whole exercise was to re-write an absolutely horrible fanfic I had read years ago in readable fashion, and with a less totally non-canon explaination. (In the original fic, Tir cut himself with glass to "feed" the Souleater because it THIRSTED FOR HIS BLOOD).
I fixed it.
And no, just because a fanfic is AU or OOC doesn't mean it's bad. It just means it is OOC or AU. This is decidedly OOC, as I wrote in the title. That doesn't mean crap, sorry. One of the better fanfics I've ever read was about Gogo from FF6 acting out the feelings of Daryl, and while the whole fanfic was based on a false rumor from the internets, it was still written well and taken seriously by the author(who didn't believe the rumor at all), and it turned out to be a pretty awesome fic. OOC and AU != bad(Though AU fics ARE usually terrible. "lolz FF7 characters in Highschool!!!!111" et al)
Also, I'm sorry that reading a serious short story is a chore for you. Why don't you go back to reading more non-sensical crap on FF.net then?

Even though it's a good idea, I don't really agree to having all fanfics in one thread. It's best to keep them as seperate threads.
Edit: But if the members think that they'd prefer to do it that way, they're allowed to do so.

Edit: But if the members think that they'd prefer to do it that way, they're allowed to do so. See, this is kinda the way I was thinking too. It's the same for fanart that you personally drew. It's better to have your own personal thread to post your stuff in so the question of authorship never comes into question. But what's done is done for now. I don't feel like moving it back over here. If I ever get around to writing my Wakaba after-game fic, I'll be posting it in it's own seperate thread, now that I have permission from guild master Soma over here.

To be fair to ff.net, most of the Suikoden section is full of above-average stuff.
The rest of the site is another story.

For the record, I didn't "ape the style" of anyone. I stole a fic idea and made it readable. This is my own style or writing, crafted from my own experiences with other talented writers I've met over the course of my life.
I don't care if you don't like the fanfic, but I'd rather you tell me why you didn't like it so I can fix it than have you tell me I'm comparable to people who can't spell the word "you".

I really only look at the first page, and mostly the stuff up there is pretty good from what I read of it. Maybe the stuff you're talking about is way in the back? Either way, the most recent blight upon our mostly-clean Suikosection is "help I've been eatin' by my video game" by daisuki-neko, which has been flamed by anyone with over one braincell.
