Creation I

In the beginning, before the universe exsisted, before even time itself, there was light. The light was one conscienceness. The light began to grow. As it grew it became stretched and thin. It stretched until it was no longer one piece, but millions. The individual pieces shone brightly against the darkness that now seperated them. And thus the univerese came into exsistence.

Now that the universe was created things began to move, and time passed. The individual pin-points of light began to become seperate from each other. And as time passed the once single-conscienceness became a pleothra of single minds. These entities each decided to go off on their own and help the universe grow.

Two of these entities were Taern and Oilevert, brothers of a sort. They were one piece until the last moment in which they gained their own minds. Taern was the 'eldest' and thus the strongest of the two, while Oilevert was the more passionate.

After a time of traveling the two brothers came upon an area that was free of influence, and there they decided to create a world. They spent much time planning and creating the perfect planet. Finally the world was done, and they called it Dranoa.

The world was perfect, but there was no live on it yet. So the two brothers went down to the world to start life on their planet. As the two walked grass and flowers sprouted out of their footsteps. Where they stood and gazed trees grew. Then animals began to take form, some flew into the air, some flopped their way into the waters and others stayed on the ground

Taern looked out over what they had created and he was pleased. His inner light shone brightly, so bright that Oilevert was momentarily blinded. Oilevert raised his hand, to shield his eyes form the blinding light of his brother, and as he did a shadow cast itself upon his heart. Now Oilevert was the youngest, and as such he didn't have the power that Taern had, and so he coveted power that rivaled his brothers.

As Taern continued to look out at their creation, Oilevert took this new found power and let it fill him with it's ecsence. His heart became foul and bitter, he lost all love for his brother and what they had created. His only thought was for power and destruction.

Sensing that something was not right, Taern turned and saw what his brother had become. What he saw brought sorrow to his heart and tears into his eyes. He pleaded with Oilevert to renounce his new power, and to return to the light that gave birth to them

Oilevert mistaking his brother's compassion for fear, laughed at his brother and called him a fool. Bearing all of his power, Oilevert, directed his will upon Taern, bent on destroying his brother. But no matter how much strength he posessed, his power could do nothing against the power of light.

Taern, still saddened for what his brother had become, scattered Oilevert to the other side of their world. As he was flung, Oilevert vowed to destroy all that they had created. Life would now end in death, and Oilevert would become the opposite of what he was.

And for the first time Taern was alone.

Creation II

As time passed Taern decided that he would create children that would be with him, and would help him protect the world from his brother. So Taern took a piece of himself and added it to a piece of each of the four elements.

From Earth came the eldest, Craske, he was as strong and stubborn as the mountains. Next was Tset, the child born from the air. She was wild and free-spirted. Cam, the youngest male, came forth next. He came from the fire, and burned with a purpose and his heart was pure. The last was the child of water, Masandra. She was full of the healing powers of water and a love of beauty.

Taern saw his four children, and again he was happy. Each of them imbodied the best of what the world had to offer. But he soon began to realize that like all children, they yearned to explore the world for themselves. Being a loving father, Taern lets them go out into the world.

Again he is alone.

After a time, Taern decided to once more create something, something that would live him and that would learn from him. First he took the earth, and from it he formed bodies for his creations. Then he filled it's lungs with air and gave them breadth. Next he had water flow throughout them, giving them fluids in which to derive life from. Lastly he put fire in their minds, giving them a will.

Seeing his creation, he realized that they were still not much different from the other creatures that inhabited the world. So he took all four of the elements and fused them together with a piece of him. Thus he gave them a soul. Next he split it in two, giving one to the male, and one to the female. And when the two halfs combined they would create a new soul.

Thus was born the first dragons.

Taern taught them his ways and showed them how to use their power to help life grow. Unlike the four spirits, the dragons were not immortal, they lived for only a few centuries. But they could give birth, and in their own way achieve immortality.

Again time passed, and the four spirits returned to their father. They had learned a lot in their travels, and were yearning for Taern's approval. They had seen the dragons that their father had created, so they decided to create another race as a suprise gift for him.

They each took apart in forming the body. Craske giving up the earth, Tset the air, Masandra the waters of the world and Cam the fires that lay deep inside. But as they came to the creation of the soul, they discovered that they had a problem. As this was a suprise gift, they couldn't ask their father for some if his power. But during their travels they had come across another power, a power enormously strong. So in their naivety they took this power and fused it with their own. They split it in two and gave the halfs to their creations.

And thus was born man.

Creation III

Now the four spirits took their creation to the father, hoping for his approval. As they neared him, Taern felt a darkness, he turned to his children and saw what they had created.

Inside this new creation was an evil that had not been visited upon the world of Dranoa, it was the darkness of Oilevert. As Taern saw the evil that lay in man's heart, he also saw that there was the opportunity for greatness. Inside man's soul was both light and dark, good and evil. Life and Death.

Feeling another darkness, a greater darkness approaching, Taern prepared himself to face his brother. The sky darkened, and the earth blackened as the Lord of Death arrived.
"I trust that you find my gift acceptable my brother," these last words were spat out of his mouth.
"You think that you have visited destruction upon this world, but you forget that my children took part in their creation as well. Man is not pure evil, he is a balance of our powers. I will watch them and help them grow to serve life, so your gift does not cause me any harm Oilevert."
"Do not speak to me as if you know me. I am no longer the one I once was. I am no longer Oilevert, I am Droka. I am the God of Darkness and Death. I too will watch mankind, but I will seduce them with my power. They will serve me. They will destroy you."
With that Droka flew off to cause more harm upon this world.

The four children of Taern, now realizing what they had created decided that they must destroy man, destroy it before it destroyed life itself. But Taern forbade them, saying that even man, with half of it's heart darkness deserved life.

Taern now turned back to his grandchildren, the dragons. He charged them with protecting man, and guiding him to the light. The dragons, everyone swore that they, and their decendance would honor their charge, honor it with their life.

And here ends the age of Creation.

Old Age

The old age of mankind was an age of peace and prosperity. Humanity exsisted harmoniously with the rest of the creatures of the world.

Near the beginning of this age, when dragonkind first contacted them, man was fearful. But as time progressed, they began to realize that the dragons would not harm them. So they began to learn from the dragons, and they grew strong and just in the ways of Taern.

Unfortunately all of the records from this age were in the following times of evil, the Dark Age as they were called, lost. What we do know was passed on from mouth to mouth, old sayings that people kept close to remind themselves of how it once was.

Dark Age

Mankind and dragonkind lived harmoniuosly together for centuries. The dragons still tought humans the teachings of Taern, and helped man to tap into their hidden powers of magic.

But unlike dragons, men had an inner darkness, and it began to manifest itself. Mankind started to become jealous of the power that dragons controlled, so they began to experiment with as many things as they could. After a time, a few humans discovered the power of darkness, and they began to use it to take control of their fellow man.

As this group, refer to as the Masters of Life, grew in power, a second group of men rose to challenge them. They were the Council of Knowledge, they believed that no one group had the right to command all people.

As men fought, a change began to take shape in dragonkind. This change had been subtle over the years. It started when dragons first met man. As they taught human to live in the light, the human inadvertantly 'infected' the dragons with their darkness. Dragons began to feel anger, jealousy and hate. When the battles began, there were many dragons that took different stands on how to deal with humanity.

The smallest group chose to continue the teaching of Taern, and they helped mankind, even if it cost them their own life. But they did not just lay down a die, they diguised themselves as humans and influenced them from the inside. And in the event that they were discovered, they put their fate in the hands of men.

The second group of dragons decided that they would help mankind, but would not put themselves in jeopardy. They thought thaey were more valuable than men, since they had been created by Taern.

The third group felt that the fate of men were no longer their problem, so they went off on their own. They stayed out of the wars, concerning themselves with their own wants and needs.

The last group was the 'infected' with darkness the most. They decided that mankind was not fit to live, and needed to be eradicated from the world. They started their own war against all humans.

Little did these men and dragons realize that their actions would forever change the course of Dranoa forever.

Seperation I

Now during the Dark Age, there was a time later known as the Seperation. This was last era of the Old World. Man had become base and corrupt. Dragons had nearly all become lost and forgotten the true path of Taern. The world was in a dark time. But in dark times, the light shines the brightest.

This light took the form of six heroes. Heroes that would sacrifice all that they loved to see the world into better days.

The first was a young man named Barro Gilson. He was the youngest son of the strongest wizard alive. His father, Lorka, was in charge of the council that hunted the dark wizards. Now Barro was strong with his will and magic, but not nearly as strong as his father. And no where near as ruthless. Barro was a kind soul, the type of person that one sees giving a beggar some food, or gladly giving his shirt to vagabond. You see, to Barro, possesions were unimportant. What was important was the quality of life that one lived.

Now when Barro was younger, he was apprenticed to a wizard named T'orl Grans, and most people considered T'orl crazy. But he taught Barro all that he knew. Everything from magic spells, to potions, but most importantly he taught Barro to worship all life. That was why most considerd him crazy, because to him all life was equal. Everything from a single insect all the way to dragons all held the same importance in the flow of life.

Barro grew older and wiser under the tutelage of the old wizard. And as he grew, he began to realize that mankind would never be free from the darkness that resided deep in their soul. Though they may never rid themselves of the darkness, they could fight the urges, and control the evil within themselves. Even after he passed all tests, and was named a full wizard, Barro continued to study under T'orl. He hoped that he could one day find a cause that would unite all mankind, and return them to the path of light that once followed.

After a time, as the war progressed, and humanity slipped deeper into the darkness, Barro realized that if wanted an idea to untie mankind, he may have to create one himself. So he went to his mentor, and the two began to create a symbol of life. They studied, and they thought, and finally they began to create a sword. But this sword was not an ordinary one, it represented the power of all life. It gave the wielder the power of all things that drew breath.

It took them many years to complete this powerful sword, but after much sweat, blood and tears, they had finished. Barro and T'orl were excited, hoping that this might end the war between men, and between man and dragon. In their hope, they became blind. In their hope, they help destory the world that they knew.

Barro took the sword to his father and the council, hoping to show them that the need for war was over. But during the years, the council had became what the strove to destroy. They had taken too much power, and in doing so had corrupted themselves. Upon seeing the sword, they were overcome with a longing to wield its power. Barro and T'orl had forgotten that men reach for the darkness, and they realized that no man should ever control the power of this sword. They refused the council's plea for the weapon.
