ok, all you fans know that mello and near were never in the live action movies. I just have one thing to say about it, WTH. I don't mean to be rude but WHY? did they not find the right acter's or something? I found a person, who was doing a photoshoot, who would be PERFECT to play mello. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnQnGVGjz5Q ironicly, thats one of the band members of nightmare, the ones who do the opening and ending songs to the anime. that was easy to find mello, I'm sure it would be easy to find a near too. forgive me for this rant and have a good day.

The reason why is because it would've made the movie too long.
The first movie, as you can see, was too long to continue past the point where Yagami-kun finally meets L.
Another reason why they also had to change up the story a bit.
...
But then again, there MAY be a continuation of Death Note into a larger series of live action movies, or maybe not.
Because if you look at it, the main part of Death Note that most people revolve around is the story of Light and L.
...
Here's a reason as to why I think that they may NOT make another series of movies with Mello and Near.
Light is dead.
Another reason?
The title of the second movie is, DeathNote : The LAST Name
As in, maybe this is THE final movie.
...
Oh and btw, this needs to be in Live Action Movies Forum.
I'm moving it there.

and yeah it would have been cool~!!!!
Personally, I think they could of had 1 movie for L; and the 2nd for Whammy Kids. At the most, they so could have made a triology like Lord of the Rings. Yet they chose not to. They suck.
Damn Ruka makes a hot Mello.
