Some of you may be like "Who the hell has HD anyway?" Well, the number of HDTV owners is growing by the day, and without HD, Nintendo will be even more far behind the 360 and PS3, and may not survive the next gen console war.

By the time the Rev hits the markets, the number of HDTV's owned by gamers will be much more then ever before. Do you REALLY want Nintendo to be behind the compitition? I know I don't. Nintendo needs every advantage they can get. Like the Gamecube, with it's lack of DVD and CD playing capabilities, it put it behind the PS2 and Xbox, decreasing sales.

It really angers me how people want Multimedia functions over playing games on it.

I don't want Nintendo to be behind again.
I'm tired of people ragging on Nintendo because of bullshit reasons.

HDTv really doesnt matter and that would be a bullshit reason to hate the Revolution. HD makes no difference, what your gonna buy your console for is to play video games! Multimedia bastards! stare

But sadly you cannot say that multi functional things are part of a mainstream audience.

Nintendo want to break into every different type of gamer. This also means the mainstream gamer weather us Nintendo "fanboys" (just a term to put us ahead of them...) like it or not.

As stupid as it mgiht sound, some people are now put off the Rev' cause of the HD "decision". It may sound stupid but it's the same as the cardridge decision with the N64 and the online descision with the Cube. Both where turning points in people's decision and clearly was a blow for Nintendo when comparing with it's competitors.

I don't care if Nintendo do or do not add HD into teh Rev' but I'm more worried about what people might think when they look at the clear crisp graphics of the Ps3 and 360 then the slightly fuzzy image on the Rev' games. I'm no graphics fan. but it's clear to me that gaming culture is, and Nintendo needs to not only aim at their own gamers and the non gamers that pic up a game like Nintendogs and love it, but those guys we all fight against in this forum.

I for one think Nintendo need to look into this, we also need the final word off Iwata and not some lady in NoA. And isn't it funny, that cause Nintendo "officially" stated this, everyone has been up in arms over it and havn't looked at what the Rev' can offer so far and not thinking about the future. Would we really need game to play on HD Tv's when gaming can be so damn fun with the Rev'?

I don't see any reason as to why we should be complaining when we haven't even seen anything yet. When the graphics suck, THEN you complain.

Hm. I wish the world weren't mainly composed of graphics people. Oh well. I emailed Nintendo anyway.

I personally don't really care much about this decision as I do not own a HDTV and will still buy the Revolution even with a lack of HD support.
What bothers me though is how Nintendo always seems the feel as if they can do things there own way and not suffer for it. HD is obviously going to be a big thing next generation and without HD support the Revolution will be way behind the PS3 and Xbox 360. Nintendo fans will buy but for others they will probably go for the more advanced systems which support HD. This decision will obviously turn a lot of gamers away from the Rev, along with many good third party support ignoring making games for it.
This decision will possibly guarantee the Revolution to be the system that gets ragged in the next generation. This does not personally bother me as I will still enjoy the system, but Nintendo can easily do much better for themselves than that and can appeal to a much larger market than they currently do. I love how Nintendo tries to be unique, but at some points it is necessary to follow suit. HD will probably end up being a standard soon, and the Revolution will probably be left behind without it.

I'd buy one with/without support of HD, but I do own a HDTV, so it would help. 3nodding

I totally agree.

I personally do not own a HDTV, and probably won't for awhile. Nor do I see it as a deciding factor in my next-gen console purchase.

However, I feel that many gamers will look into graphics as one of the deciding factors. And of course, HD is way better then normal. So a lot of them will look at the Rev and see something thats not as good as the others.

Nintendo can do it thier way, but they also should look into what the gamers want in order to get sales.

Of course, we know that partially because of this decision, the Revolution will probably similar to the cube for this generation. What I hope for is that the real gamers decide it was a mistake to get the PS3 and/or Xbox 360 instead and move to Nintendo for the generation after. Anyone who isn't a real gamer can stick to their own crap and bash Nintendo all they want, I don't care.

This world will never be filled with a larger amount of intelligent people than unintelligent, so Sony and Microsoft will still be able to make there sales off the larger number of idiots in the world (one way you can tell there are stupid people is by watching hurricane footage on TV. Who would be dumb enough to try and stand there with a video camera in a storm like that? I've been in a hurricane since I'm a Floridian, so I know that someone's gotta be real dumb to do that kind of thing).

I agree with Bururian for the most part. One of the Sony big-wigs even said that the PS3 was not a "gaming machine" in that the original idea for the Playstation was not to be about games. Nintendo's conservative business strategies have always kept it profitable, and for the time being, they're going to stick with that strategy. I think Reggie Fils-Aime has the right ideas for Nintendo. (Fils-Aime is the director of marketing and sales for Nitendo)

I agree with you Bururian!

What in the hell is the big deal with HDTV anyway? It's the gameplay that counts.

Nothing against you, but HD isn't all that spectacular. Let the fanboys have their HD. Whill Sony and icrosoft are working on that, Nintendo will work on making even more quality games.

Would HD be nice? Yeah. Is it necessary? I don't think so.

No offence, but I don't even have HDTV.

Frankly, even if I did, I really woudn't give a damn if systems supported it or not.
Why is it really neccassary? It isn't.
People just want it because it's there, and they think "Hey, it's new, it must be cool. I mean, I can see extra pixels with it!!!"

It really isn't that big a deal.

I remember hearing sony say something about there being 11% of households owning HDTVs and somehow that number jumping up to 59% in the next year? Don't you think that's a little much of a jump to be predicting? My standard tv works just fine, i don't want no HDtv, i like playing my games the way they are, and with the revolutions PATENTED AND COPYRIGHTED use of Cube Mapping, which allows people to place pre-rendered images onto places, it's gonna transform the revolutions graphics up to the level of the other competitors, with less need to process for the graphics!

Even without HD support, nintendo still does have an edge over the competitors.
