Endless sands seemed to spread out before the semi-tainted blue eyes of a very young mare. From her position on the mountain's side she could see for miles on end but there wasn't a single sign of life. Letting out a tired sigh she continued down the slopes to the barren place before her. She had never been this far from the village unacomponied before but it was something she needed to do. If she was to find one soquili in such vast lands she needed to check everywhere. "And that includes this hell hole..." She mused to herself stepping lightly over a prickly pear cactus.

Mozenrath had been wandering the sandy lands often. This place reminded him much of his own home. Only the sand wasn't it's usual black-ness that he was used to. No other Soquili came here often, so it just screamed worthy of becomeing his new stomping grounds while he was away from his lands across the ocean.
There were many places to hide that one wouldn't figure you could hide. Unless you were adapt to the desert and the way the sand moved. He was glad for it though. The sight of the trees and that snow that had started to fall was growing dreary and quite plain boreing. Snow didn't fall much here but it did get quite freezing at night. Not that it mattered much.
Streaking across the sand quickly, Mozenrath's long black tail trailed behind him like a banner. His cape flapped wildly as he galloped across the soft sand and over wind swept dunes. He was heading back to the ruins of two legger structures he had found nestled between two large rocks that jutted from the ground. His temporary home for now.

As the youth made her way down the steep rocks something caught her attention. Seemingly flying across the sand was a dark object. She blinked a few times and the apperation was gone. Sighing she licked her lips, how long had it been since she had taken a drink of water? Far too long as she was now seeing things. For a brief moment she considered turning around to take the long treck back to her home where food and drink were sure to be awaiting her.
"No!" She said firmly to stop her self from thinking such things. If she turned back now she was a failure and therefore not strong enough to help her mother. She would go on and with luck she would find something to soothe her self in the sands that waited for her. Even a muddy drink would be better then none at all.
Once she composed her self she climbed again. Leaping from rock to rock to push down the large masses faster causing quite a ruckus. It didn't matter now if she attracted attention of some rocky creature. Anything that lived in these over fed hills wouldn't follow her to the desert anyway. Why? Because only a fool went into the desert unprepaired.

As he had ran past the mare unaware of her presance, the sound of rolling and clashing rocks caught his attention. Comeing to a slideing hault, sand rushed up the front of his legs which he quickly shook off.
Turning his head, he spotted what appeared to be a light blue figure makeing it's way into the desert. How odd and yet intreguieing. It made him curious as to what kind of person would come here, then his mind flicked back to the meeting with Eydis. Jeez, if it was another like her, he's high tail it out of there.
Biteing his lower lip, his mind traveled back to the object he was carrying underneath his turban. He needed to get it home...but, curiosity got the best of him. Knowledge was useful anyway. Giveing a slight, muttering sigh, he turned his body around and trotted over towards whoever it was that made their way into his home.

Keeping her eyes glued to where her feet landed she kicked off for a particuarly long jump for a boulder. Her body stretched out as far as it could as she soared into the air. For a brief moment she felt as though she were flying, that all came to a screeching halt as her hooves hit rock a bit harder then she had anticipated. She twitched as the slight tingling pain made it's way up her legs and into her spine.
Shaking her head to nullify the pain a bit her eyes fell on the yellowy grains not 10 feet from her. Letting out a particuarly gleefull cry she leapt down to the next rock, and to the next, and the next until the soft sand was beneath her. "I made it..." Her voice was full of disbelief and as she gazed at her surroundings her face fell.
The desert was exactly as she had seen from the mountain. A wasteland. There was nothing there, but then...what was that heading toward her? She squinted and was able to make out a dark figure of something with four legs. A horse? She really hoped so or she was about to get killed. "Who are you?!" She demanded taking a fighting stance narrowing her eyes.

His eyebrows lifted as he watched the strange Soquili jump from rock to rock then 'gracefully' find her way to the ground of soft sand. As he drew closer, she came into better focus and now it was easier to see what exactly she looked like.
As her voice called out to who he was, he finished closeing a bit of distance before he came to a stop. His cape fluttering at the sudden motion and he looked at the mare. Dark eyes, squinted lightly from the sunlight that shone over head. "I should be the one asking you that....." There came his retort. These lands were practically his home and she was entering it.
Though of course, he wasn't stupid like that one mare who bullied any stranger who came into his land. No, information and a alibye were good things to have in this day. Especially when shadey things were afoot. "If you must know who I am...I am Mozenrath of the Black Sands. Now, might I ask you who you are?"

Her ears flicked back and forth as she listened to him picking up on every sound. After allowing this to circle through her brain she came to the conclusion the he was not the one she was after. His voice was a bit to strong and his way of speaking was all off, it was safe to shift into a more normal possition. After all, she wouldn't need to attack unless he provocked it.
"Yes, you may." She answered mimicking the way he spoke not caring that it might be a bad idea. He said he was from the desert so if something went wrong she could high tail it back to the rocks and be all right. "I am Amoena, the daughter of Lunathiel and...Kohana..." She hesitated on her father's name. She wasn't sure if he could be counted as a father as they had never met, though that could have been her mother's doing.
"Now...Mozenr...uh...Mozen something..."She shrugged a bit. Mozen was a bit easier to say so she'd stick to that. "To business...have you seen another horse out here? Might be bullying some small defensless creature..." She was falling rather quickly back into mannerisms she was trying to hide. Her playfully insulting nature, for one, was coming back full tilt.

Mozenrath gave a soft chuckle that eminated from deep in his chest. Turning his head sideways, he looked at her with one eye. "My my. We must really think highly of our parents to have to tell other's who they are. Are they some great warriors? Or some royalty to these lands that I should know about? If not then I'm not too sure why you insisted on telling me. But that's not the point I suppose."
His ears perked forward as he listened. "Another out here? Sightings of others out here are few and far inbetween. If a person who doesn't know the desert comes out here on their own, they are most likely lost. A...victim of the sand." A small smirk curled one corner of his mouth as his black eyes lidded half way.

He really seemed to like the sound of his own voice and she was truly beginning to hate that. That, and he was insulting her mother an unforgivable thing in her eyes. "As a matter of fact-" She narrowed her eyes leaning a bit closer to tell him off but the words seemed to catch in her throat. Perhaps it wasn't the words as much as her actual voice sticking. She was completely parched and was only able to listen a bit disdainfully as he continued on.
So, unless they were an inhabitant of the sands then they seemed to be doomed. That was all wonderful to know, and she was rather glad to know she was with someone who knew the desert, but he hadn't answered her question. She coughed a little bit to get her voice to work despite the dryness. "That's nice and all but, have you seen anyone?" In her mind she added on, 'or water?'.

Mentally rolling his eyes, this mare obviously was not very observant. This place was so vast, running into someone out here was a toss of the dice. A game of chance. "To answer your question simply. No, I havn't seen anyone out here in a long time...." His tail gave a few agitated flicks side to side as he spoke. Something about this mare rubbed him the wrong way.
Turning his head, he looked off in the direction close to his home. "There's water in the direction that I was going...." Luckily enough, it was too close to his home to actually give off it's were abouts. So if someone came to that oasis near it, they wouldn't be able to see it.

"That's what I asked wasn't it?" She tossed her head to the side cockily ignoring the dizzy buzz spinning through her head. She made a mental note not to do that again until she was rested and out of the heat. Mozen didn't seem to mind even in his dark cape but she was dying in her light coat! There either something wrong with him, or he really was an illusion as she had first thought.
"Illusion or not..." She murmured under her breath following his gaze, "He knows where water is..." She turned back to him and gave a sly smile. If he hadn't seen who she was looking for and he knew the desert then at least he could take her to the water before she set off again. "So...would you mind showing a lady to this drinking spot?" She asked fluttering her eyes for no purpose other then to mock others she had met.

Mozenrath realed back slightly in disgust at her batting eyelashes. A small snear appearing on his pure white lips. "Not if you're going to act like that." His tail snapped as he quickly turned around.
Turning his head, he looked at her breifly. Not focuseing on her form. She seemed more like a blur. "I suppose I can lead you to where there is some water. Watch where you step. This place may look dead but there is much here that hides itself that will attack if you get too close...."
With a final snap of his tail, he started to head off in the direction he was originally going. Makeing sure to keep to a trail that didn't lead anywhere near his home. For privacy sake. He didn't need anyone just randomly dropping in on him.

The little sky mare snickered and giggled a bit at his reaction. That was what a stallion was supposed to act like! They weren't supposed to go all melty for such a stupid trick. "You suppose?" Her face fell to distaste again. He had seemed so cool for a moment there, then his attitude came back. 'Along with his voice...' she thought rolling her eyes not really noticing he was already a few paces ahead of her.
"H-hey!" She cried putting the peddle to the meddle to catch up to him. "R-rude much?" She asked gasping a little bit. It was hot and not a normal summer hot. It was like fire hot topped off with a pit of steam, without the moistness. Licking her lips a bit she pulled a bit further ahead so she could look him in the eye. "So...how far to the water exactly?" She asked flicking her tail back and forth to create a breeze.

Not slowing down for her, he kept at his normal walking pace. Once she caught up enough to where she was looking at him in the eye, he glanced at her once but then looked ahead. "Its a bit of a walk. But nothing I'm sure you couldn't handle." His voice had fell flat as he wasn't in much of a chatty mood. His mind still on what rested inside his turban.
The heat didn't bother Mozenrath. His clothes were designed to keep him cool dureing the hot, desert days and warm dureing the below zero nights. Most Soquili couldn't survive out in the desert, which is the way he liked it. It meant no one would be snooping around and getting into his business.

"I see..."She murmured dropping back to her usual so she didn't strain her self. She had expected a bit more from him then that but then again he did seem the strong silent type. 'Strong rude silent type', she added in her head allowing her eyes to travel out to the endless sands. Though, it seemed that was all there was; sand and heat waves. She sighed this would be a long trip with the lack of scenery and company.
Her eyes narrowed in annoyence looking at the clothed stallion before her. He seemed perfectly fine, possably happy even. That didn't help her. She was bored, hot and thirsty and it seemed as though there was no way to pass the time. She grinned a bit maliciously then started prancing about at her normal speed. Tossing her head up high she started singing loud and clear for the whole desert to hear. "Prancing along, singin' a song, walking in a desert wonderland!"
