Taking the day off work. Will probably make snowflake decorations to hang about... if there's snow, I'll go lay in it for a while (yes cold... but wet snow conforms to your body more comfortably than any mattress I've ever had... heh) or make a snow creature in the front lawn. Of course if it snows that day I'll probably spend some time breaking my back shoveling the stuff like I did with that big snowstorm that hit the Midwest recently. xd
And then of course there's the ritual. Already have the 'cakes and wine' picked out. Merangues for cakes... and I wasn't going to get a wine but there was this sparkling blueberry juice that was only two-bucks. I don't think "oh, blueberries!" when I think Winter Solstice, but what the heck. It's blue, winter is cold... that counts for something, right? Might put out some pine nuts too... they're yummy. And decorate with pine cones and some yew branches and whatnot.
While for many Winter Solstice is about the rebirth of the light... I've never quite understood the logic of that. It's the darkest time of the year... shouldn't we be celebrating Darkness? Whatever happened to that idea of balance that is preached so often in the community? Alas, there's always been a disproportionate honoring of Light over Dark. confused

I live with a christian mom, so I can't do much. I'm hoping to have a few people over for a 'pre-christmas' party. also, I really like to watch the sunset on the shortest day of the year. it kinda makes me know that the worst is over and it will soon become better by having longer days (thus the light). I'm just glad to be alive to see the moon and sun as they exchange their personal times and share with us mortals.

I just might do that too.

Depending on your faith its when the Horned God is born and thus the sun and thus light.
