*wants to make some, but she does not have any good video mixing things in here... or audio mixing things* I've seen some, and some are good, others aren't. Depends on how it's going. Some people like to make the mouth movements match the song's words, others just mix and match clips that seem to match, and, possibly, people may just mix up some stuff randomly to make an AMV. I saw a decent one relating to Chobits from some profile here, but I forgot who. xD
But, I really need to stop procrastinating the many other things I have to do... >___> *goes back to those things while draping herself with a blanket*

Well if you usually watch AMVs on Youtube or Gaia, most of them are going to suck. xd
A lot of the good ones are only available on animemusicvideos.org but they have a lot of sucky ones too. I'm a donator so I can search by star scale score.
But then, I've also been a member since 2002 and am pretty active on the forums, so I know who's who and don't usually need to search to find a good editor... Because I already know who they are. xd
Youtube does have a few good ones, though. Like that "REAL ninjas.." one. I don't think that's on the .org.

That one's by The Wired Knight.
You should've seen the look on his face when they said they couldn't show his video during award ceremonies(at AWA). xd xd
This year wasn't so fun with him, though. I was making the Doc and asked him "What's your username and why should we care" for newbs who might not know.
He said "The Wired Knight and, because... I don't know... I have a key in my pocket."
He hadn't had much sleep that day. He was studying law for a test when AWA was over, too(He's a law major o.o) He lives in Cali.
Cool guy, had a few hours with him in 2005 at the AMVer Dinner. Said some funny s**t. xd

Oh, I love Waka Laka for Osaka, Sokka's Happy song and I wish I were a lesbian.
I like watching good AMVs from time to time, but I haven't watched a lot of animes yet.
