I've been searching for a thorough summary of the Death Note movie sequel, and I kept hearing promising rumors but couldn't find anything. Finally I found this article and thought I'd post the link in case any of the rest of you are as eager as I was to find out. I can't vouch for the details of the review myself but it seems trustworthy.
WARNING: it is a FULL summary so if you don't want to find out what happens until you see it than DON'T READ THE ARTICLE. The movie has a DIFFERENT ending than the manga.

There are spoilers in my post, though I'm pretty sure if you're reading it you've already gotten through all the manga.
This sounds awesome; I gotta give the film's writers props for putting chapters 58 and 108 together so well. Seems like everything's loosely following the manga, except for L's reappearance, which was well written in itself. It seems like a good way to give the credit to L instead of Near for catching Kira, while still keeping the ending more-or-less the same (Matsuda shooting Light, the last ditch watch effort, and Ryuk's victory).
I wish I'd known about the Movie L's plan a year ago, though... Definitely would have been a cool concept to throw at the people that were trying so hard to prove his death at the hands of Rem was a fraud.

The movie sounds really cool, and I like the ending a lot more than the manga ending. Though it makes me a bit sad that they appear to have ->cut out Near and Mello<- from the story. They are two of my favorite characters, and I think it would have been cool to see how they made them "come to life" on screen.

It's pretty much impossible to find the movie with subtitles (i haven't seen it anywhere like that) and i did manage to find the movie itself, even without the subtitles. I swear..i love this movie to pieces (it's MUCH better than the first) but it also made me sad.. D: Cuz cuz cuz...
*spoilers* Highlight to read:
L still dies! I mean..i wish he hadn't..and he says he wants to be alone for the last bit of life he has... It just made me sad... And Soichiro saluted him..which is nice... But i mean...you'd think he'd want someone near him when he died... And there's Light, who i always considered a b*****d, straight to the end, especially in the manga. But, in the movie, he just didn't seem anywhere near as maniacle as his manga counterpart, and therefore, when he freaked out about how he was about to die when he saw his name in the note, then died and his dad held him up, and it was a sad moment, i actually felt sad for him in a way...
Though, i'll admit i was SUPER happy when they used the Rem-kills-Watari-and-L thing and L didn't actually die. I mean, it was a great way to mix in chapter 58 while still continuing the story. And how he came down explaining everything all cooly. And he sat in the chair and kept talking like "no problem"..just like Near...
I guess i really am a L fangirl.. I mean, i get a kick out of watching someone try to act as L on live television... Besides that Matsuyama Ken'ichi is awesome. I hope he recieves those two Academy awards he's been nominated for! (he's nominated for Best Supporting Role Actor in Death Note, and for Rookie of the Year..)
I could go on forever with this..but i'm too tired to. I mean.. it's 4am here...so yeah...sleepy sleepy... *yawn* If you have any questions about the 2nd movie, feel free to ask me in PM or something. I don't mind. I'll try to answer them (there are a few small things i didn't understand, and alot of L's and Light's explainations went straight over my head cuz they spoke so fast... But that aside, i can pretty much answer most anything else i guess..)

The 2nd one ends it.

Yunacat It's pretty much impossible to find the movie with subtitles (i haven't seen it anywhere like that) Well, they did release DVDs.. (which I bought ^_^ )
