As the battle system is stilll in the initial phases of its release...what do you all suspect we can do to improve upon it? ex. should we have an 'official' thread in which after a certain number of fights are won in that particular topic you level up? In any case, simply post your ideas here ^^
Amendments Passed: Armelin - Development of the Battle System; Q&A Thread Blue-Ultimate - Restructuring of Battle Standings; Roleplay Innovations; a second Arena; functional monster battles? Japanese Hero - Triple Threat System Muchikun - Monster specific accounts and avatars for the upcoming monster battle system. okay....
Alright, I have a suggestion. I'm going to change it from a turn by turn style to one more dualistic in nature.
(how it was previously) Ex. Character: 10hp Enemy: 10hp
-character rolls 4- (enemy has 6hp) -enemy rolls 2- (character has 8hp) -character rolls 5- (enemy has 1 hp) -enemy rolls 2- (character has 6hp) -character rolls 10- (enemy dies)
to something more like...
Character: 10hp Enemy 10hp
-character rolls 7- -enemy rolls 5-
[Character's Damage] > [Enemy Damage]; 7-5=2, enemy sustains 2 damage. etc.
This style is preferable as not only does it add greater elements of suspense and chance to the game but it nulls the advantage that is gained by holding the first turn.

Alright, I've already gotten the amendment necessary for becoming a scholar. -approves past post- =P
But...I have another idea. Perhaps you could incorporate the battle system (and its accompanying stats) into an rp system. I'd think it would be pretty exciting if you say...decided that someone could be a monster with "x" stats and have a group of friends come together to slay it. Perhaps one of you could even be a white mage and have the damage you would normally deal converted into a healing spell for party members. The ideas are limitless really, I look forward to seeing if anyone can get it to work or not.

for higher levelled weapons, maybe you could increase the minimum damage for rolls so that you wouldnt do 1 damage with a 2000 gold weapon XD

Mii-chan1989 for higher levelled weapons, maybe you could increase the minimum damage for rolls so that you wouldnt do 1 damage with a 2000 gold weapon XD that's already been solved with the armor, as a Sage you'd do 20-50 damage ^^

That's it Armelin I have thought Of A COMPLETELY NEW battle system which complies to ALL new comers and veteran battlers.
for example this. The titles of the warrior.
Sovereign - Defeat reigning title holder (eldest Sage becomes first Sovereign)
Sage - Defeat 3 opponents simealtaneously
Scholar - Pass an ammendment in the "Brainstorming" thread
Samurai - Win with 'valor'
Knight - Attain "Blade of Chivalry"
Squire - Claim victory in 3 battles; from here you can decide whether to take
the path of the Samurai or that of the Knight
Defender - Defeat an opponent
Peasant - Exist
I have thought of a battle system that can still be murged with the rankings of today's warriors.
And it goes as this,
at first you are a peasant, which give you the usual specs. 10hp, weapon bare fists, armor non,
I kinda more of this would be more appropriate. you get 10 hp. in stead of using random numbers or attack strength, you use dices.
the peasant gets these kind of dices. 4 sided dices, 3 dices. the number you get out of this, will be your attack power.
and the additional weapon you have will give you bonus attack points. lets say you role a 9, plus the points from a weapon (example 5 extra bonus attack points) makes 14 attack total.
And now I will make a list of what I think is A fair stats rising.

This is whether you choose samurai or knight. look at the samurai/knights extra stats

as you may notice is that I changed the requirements of the number of battles you must have won to gain the title
I would think this is a fair, stats rising, and also what I suggested in the chronicles tread, you could choose to heal or to attack.
or it's going to be a lame a** pokemon game about who has the strongest attacks (or in this case attack power).
but when you heal, you have to use one dice less. so instead of you regular 3 dices to attack, you use 2 dices to heal.
also I really think you should make a list of all the weapons you can get by donating, or doing honorable things for the guild or special tread.
Like i see poeple with katana's around here in there stats, like how did they get it, what do you need to do for that special armor or or weapon. what kind of weapons and armors are there and what special stats do they give.
you should really reconsider these things. And i don't think it's that hard to change the stats, you just look at your current position and then you go down the list... or up, and look at the stats you will get after that list, for example I will take your stats armelin.
Samurai Armelin: Health: 30 Attack Power: (5-27) Statistics: Has won 4/7 matches
Weapon: Katana Armor: Iron Cuirass
well you are a samurai, so that means you would have these stats.
Samurai Armelin: health: 25 attack power: (4 times 6 sidesdices) 24 attack power max armor: 5 hp armor Statistics: Has won 4/7 matches
plus weapon power: (Don't know how many weapons there are so I can't categorize the attack power) plus armor: (same thing here as the weapons)
and if you are a sage, you will get those extra, stats, and if your the sovereign you will get those extra stats.
And since I have, brainstormed allot in the brains storm tread I do think I deserve the tittle as scholar.
And if so I would get these stats
peasant-scholar Blue-Ultimate: Health: 20 hp Attack Power: (3 times 4sided dices) max 12 attack power armor: 10 hp Statistics: not any official matches
weapon: bare fists (plus 0 attack power) armor: rags (plus 0 hp armor)
let me say that the armor doesn't increase your life but protects your life until armor is broken. then you life will drop after those attacks.

We'll if you don't like, the battle system, I do think the ranking list could be updated.
lets take your stats again.

This is really good and all, but I think it could use a bit more specifics.

I was told by "[Condemned Angel]" that I had a minimum attack power of 10 ??????? so why is your min attack ??5??. _____________________________________________________________
I think that in the "arena" tread you should have a direct link to the "Battle standings" tread.
for people to check out how strong there enemy is, and to check if his attack power he/she is using is correct with the battle standings.
OR have a rule that you must copy you stats from the battle standings. when you start a battle.
and in the "battle standing" tread there could be a link to the "blacksmith" tread
to increase your attack power that instant when you see you are weaker. biggrin
Also I think there should be a weekly or monthly, event where you can raise your hp, or can get special items. I think there also should be some peasant only event or samurai only event, or a VS event (like knights vs samurai's). or else only the the strong people will get the extra stats. (think about the little man biggrin )
no more idea's tho.
edit: no wait one more, you need to tell for what you are fighting like, stat raising, or random fight, practice fight, so on so on....
that's it.

Hmm, I really like the idea of monthly events which grant special weapons and such. I also prefer dice over the current system but as Thoreau would say, "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity". Already, a large number of newcomers find themselves initially confused at the rules of the battle system and I fear that furthened complexity will chase the majority of those away =(
The monthly events though....hmm.
I think every once every month or so I"ll host a cup which supports people of varying ranks. I'll have say...The Commoner's Cup (Peasant-Squire) Tournament of Kings (Sages, Sovereign) and etc.
I have two concerns with this though...the first being limited activity (if I had a defender only cup, well...we only have one or two Defenders, what sort of tournament would that be? -.-) but that can be solved by recruiting more members and simply notifying them of upcoming events. My second concern is more complex, but I'll think of a solution later on.
Anyway, -suggestion approved- (I'm going to provide a link to the battle listings in the arena as well as a link to the blacksmith in the battle listings. Monthly tournaments will also be considered.)

I also think you could put an announcement in every subforum, to tell what you can do in the subforum.
like, what kind of treads you should post and what not to, and also the rules for each subforum. (especially for the battle forum..... and why is the brainstorming tread in the Coliseum). like that, you need to know what you should post in the coliseum, and what not.
Also I think there could be a "to improve the guild" sub forum or/and a "random fighting" subforum. and that's to not get confused with "random fights" and "stat raising official fights"

You could post in the main forum but if you need a place to train then just create a new thread entitled "The Training Zone" or something and allow for random fights, etc.
And if you have any RP ideas that might benefit from the battle system then create the thread in this subforum as well ^^ In fact, I may end up moving Blue-Ultimate's thread from the RP subforum to the coliseum.
To adress your final issue, there already exists a "make this guild better" thread. It's entitled "Chronicles", stickied on the main forum.
