« 12..15..06 » Dragon Dance has been moved to Barton Town, against my better judgment. I'm beginning another roleplay, which should be far simpler than my last one. I hope you guys will really like it. Right now, I'm working on the story line.... the entire thing should be up, probably this weekend.

The year is 3021.
Nearly two-hundred years had passed since the Schism; the cataclysm that was said to have rent the world in two. Yet no one seemed to remember what exactly had occurred. Some said a great war between the nations had made a ruin of Earth, while others argued that a meteor had layed waste to their homeworld. But for whatever reason, Earth was dead and gone, a mere husk of what it had once been.
The once lush planet now spun lifeless and desolate around the star its inhabitants had called the Sun. Those that survived saw the forgetting of most of the modern technological advances that had made life so much easier during the days of Earth. The human race was dwindling. While some decided to return to the wasteland, most looked elsewhere for a home; piloting vehicles they termed "Auri". The Auri (singular, Aurus) were vessels that used solar energy to propel them through the stars.
Yet since the destruction of Earth, mankind discovered a previously unknown facet of human biology that was previously unknown to science. Man found that they had the ability to transfer energy in various ways, merely by using their minds. For some, this power manifested itself in sheer destructive force--some humans were capable of summoning vast stores of energy from sources to vaporize enemies, for example. But this power came at a price, for if the energy source held too much energy (a star for example) the transfer would backfire, and obliterate the person who was trying to convert its current.
With these newfound powers, humankind began to explore the distant interstellar space as they had traversed their own world millenia before. Despite the hope of civilized cultures other than their own on other worlds, they found that their arm of the galaxy was devoid of sentients such as themselves. Still, humans were able to colonize these planets and harvest food on them. They developed a system of trade with other colonies; the purpose of money had long since become void. People were able to travel freely back and forth from these colonies to suit their needs.
This freedom, however, spawned an age of renewed piracy the likes of which man had never seen. Merchant ships traversing the cosmos became fair game for those who flew under a black banner. Pirates plundered needed food stores, stole valuables, and wreaked havoc on all they came in contact with. Newly established colonies on remote worlds suffered raids often, and because of the advanced technology, these marauders became increasingly difficult to capture.
And still, humanity had lost their precious cures for disease and pestilence. Most, when they became ill with something serious, died shortly after. It was as though the Dark Ages had revisited man, for even though they had discovered the way to power through energy transfer, no person alive had the ability to transfer life energy.
The only technology available was used as weaponry. Humans had long since perfected the art of bioelectronics for destructive means, and most warriors had some sort of prosthesis instead of a natural limb, for example, though the process of obtaining such a prosthesis is extremely painful.
Rumor has spread amongst the human race of a 'fountain of youth' they call 'Solaris'. It is said that if one were to find Solaris, they would attain immortal life. Some believe that it may be found on a planet. Others believe that its source comes from a specific frequency of light radiating from a star. Still few believe that Solaris is a complete myth, that it does not exist. Whether or not this is true, hundreds of Auri set course for the farthest reaches of the known galaxy, searching in hope of life eternal.

S|E|C|T|S Each colony on a world makes up one Sect. A colony may have different laws and regulations from another. There are three Sects strictly dominated by pirate crime syndicates. The rules on these worlds are very similar, and are generally loosely followed unless pertaining to someone of higher station. Pirate law is mostly the same.
1. Whosoever threatens another of exceeding rank will be considered a mutineer and will be punished as the captain sees fit.
2. Stealing among crewmembers is forbidden. Whosoever is found guilty of thievery will be summarily bludgeoned. Severity of bludgeoning is dependent on the worth of valuables stolen.
3. Dueling is strictly prohibited, unless consent is given from the captain.
4. Orders will be obeyed without question. Disobedience will result in a decrease in the amount of plunder gained for a set time. Said plunder will go to the captain.
5. The captain has the right to alter these rules as he or she sees fit. Alterations will not be questioned.
