Different people like different sorts of jazz what sort do u like??? THere is many sorts (sub-genres) like traditional, fusion, big band, swing, electronic, dixieland and many more... please talk about ur favourite.

That's a pretty short list... what about latin? Modal? Cool? or if we delve into even more obscurty, free jazz.

wow thanx for the other genres. I have listened to latin and modal but can some1 explain what is free jazz? Every1 please vote on the pole. If u can think of any other jazz sub-genres please tell... cool cool cool

just to point something out, another famous jazz genre is bebop, although some may put it as its own genre. however, bebop is a style that was very influential to the jazz that many of us listen to today, at least the good jazz. lol

I like pretty much any jazz, except for smooth jazz. In my opinion, smooth jazz begins to sound the same sweatdrop . I've also been lucky enough to be able to play most types as well.

EchoRunner I've always been a fan of Latin jazz, especially bossa nova and Brazilian jazz. ooh, you read my mind, man! right now on piano, i am playing Chega de Saudade, and i'm planning on finishing my salsa composition this winter break. another great type of jazz is Christmas Jazz!!! mrgreen

Depends on my mood. Overall I like most styles of jazz, but sometimes I'm feeling funky and sometimes I'm "Kind of Blue."

well i personal love most jazz, but fav would have to be Big Band, and swing and Latin! love it all

there is soul jazz. My personal favorite is swing, actually, mostly all styles, like bebop, boogie, swing, and blues. there all sweet. i think jazz is sweet no matter what.
