IndentElizabeth wasn't the kind of person to usually jump out and introduce herself to someone. She had a quiet nature, and perhaps she was even a bit shy. Atleast, she was before stumbling upon the little café atop...a hill? It seemed very odd, but it was at an advange. Afterall, the smell of fresh bread and cakes wafted throughout the town and into the noses of others.

IndentElizabeth walked out of the bakery, and sat at the stone table directly to the left. She had just bought some bread and candy from the shop--again--and had spoken with the young worker named Laurence. He was very strange, as was the little girl he acted was "part of the family." Both seemed very blank, or maybe mellow at heart. They acted cold, unlike the cheerful owner, Audley. But atleast Laurence and Katrina were a bit warmer towards her now. What Elizabeth didn't notice was that she was very similar. Her quiet nature could have been mistaken for being cold, distant, and perhaps even arrogant. None the less, she tried to make friends with everyone.

IndentIt was very windy on this day, and the sun was shining brightly. Elizabeth put her hand over her eyes, looking towards the sky as the clouds rolled by. She sat like this for what seemed like days, until she shook her head, waking from the daydream. Elizabeth was wearing a black sweater, black steiletto boots, and a kneelength white skirt. Her raven hair was blowing in the breeze, and from a distance--or even up close--she looked like she was a model for a fasion magazine.

IndentThe shop was usually busy, but on this day, the whole town seemed to be mute. She hoped someone would atleast smile at her, give her the time of day. She didn't want everyone to be like her father...that was a different story.

Bennu was ushering her new-found younger sister along, up the hill to the bakery. She could tell Nakia wasn't much of one to socialize...but other people would do the girl good. Or at least, that's what Bennu had convinced herself of. Her smile was bright, the occasional words of (hopeful) comfort coming from the black tinted lips.

"As I said, everyone's nice there. And the guys are certainly lookers, though I'm certainly not one to ever brave asking one of them out." She chuckled lightly, then blinked once they got up the hill. A familiar face! One she didn't know the name of...but familiar nonetheless. She took Nakia's tan wrist and walked over. "Lesson number one, Nakia dear, never be afraid to approach someone else, unless they obviously look dangerous."

Most people would have added in 'or strange', but Bennu fit that category quite well. Her blue-violet dyed curls were pulled back into a loose ponytail instead of their average bun, with many strands escaping to fall over her shoulders, and her lips were tinted black. Her dark sapphire eyes were framed with kohl in an almost Egyptian fashion, and her nails were tipped with black. She wore a black peasant blouse with a dark blue bodice covered in silver 'cloud' embroidery, a flowing dark blue skirt, and black dress boots.

She sat at the table across from the familiar girl, a soft smile on her face as she motioned for Nakia to sit.
"Hello! I know I've seen you here before...I'm just not sure if I ever caught your name. If I did, I'm afraid I have a memory like a sieve when it comes to names..."

IndentIt was strange for someone to randomly approach her and speak. Atleast she thought so. Elizabeth wasn't used to such a social person, where she would just walk up and say hello. Usually, people eyes Elizabeth before hand. She didn't look to dangerous, but it was probably those model looks again--though Elizabeth herself didn't think she was anything out of the ordinary.

Indent"Hello," Elizabeth responded, giving a thin friendly smile. As awkward as it was, she was very pleased to have someone to chat with. A small breeze began to blow again, Elizabeth and the other girls forced to push their hair back. Elizabeth eyed both girls evenly, though it was obvious both girls noticed. It was hard not to miss those natural sparkly redish-brown eyes. In fact, if you were to look at her eyes long and deep enough, you could probably see how miserable she really was. Back to the other girls, one of them looked familar. She hadn't seen her in the shop before, but maybe in a dream instead. She often dreamt of a girl looking similar to her, but...well, it was a long story.

Indent"My name is Elizabeth. I don't think i've seen you around before, but then again...I haven't really looked around." She blushed, looking away for a second. She turned to another girl, one with tanned skin. She guessed it was the girl's sister, but after the incident with Laurence and Katrina, she couldn't be sure. "Oh, what bad manners I have sometimes! What are your names?"

Bennu 'eeped' slightly as the breeze started up, trying to keep the rest of her disagreeable hair from escaping the ponytail. The other girl seemed kinda akward. Maybe she was a bit like Nakia? She chuckled as the other girl said something about having bad manners.

"No worries, Elizabeth. I'm Bennu, and this is my sister Nakia." She sighed. "I'm not always this noticeable...Lately I've been coming in while wearing just jeans or shorts and a t-shirt or tank top." She pat Nakia on the head, once she finally sat down.

"Sorry if we just seemed to pop out of nowhere. Nakia's a bit newer to the area than me, and I figured I'd show her the bakery. Get her to socialize a bit."

IndentElizabeth turned to look at Nakia, who was looking away. She seemed to be in her own little world, not interested in what was happening. "So, from what you've said i'm guessing you've been here many times before, and seen me a few times." She laughed a little, pushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Now that you mention what you usually wear, i'm sure i've seen you before, too. So, what do you think of the shop? Do you have a favorite treat?"

IndentAs Bennu began to speak, Elizabeth glanced over at Nakia, again, but this time only for a second. She was still silent, and in a daze. "She must feel similar to me," Elizabeth though, also trying to listen to what Bennu had to say.

IndentThe sisters didn't at all alike to her. While Bennu was friendly and dressed as Elizabeth sometimes did, Nakua had more of her personallity. Both were so unalike, it seemed, that they were perfect siblings. of course, Elizabeth was sure glad she didn't live with them.

Nakia felt like crying inside. She didn't WANT to be out here, among other people...Other people scared her! The hood of her black and red-striped hoodie had been blown back to reveal her chin-length, raggedly cut black black hair and bleached bangs to the world, and the girl was fighting the keep her bangs from being blown from her face. It didn't help Bennu had a firm grip on her wrist.

The lanky girl blinked as they started towards another girl. Dangerous? Everyone could be dangerous! Nakia quickly looked around with her dark sapphire eyes, trying to calm herself down. It was only one other person...Not a crowd...

As Bennu talked to the girl; Elizabeth; she managed to get her hood back up before the breeze came back, holding it up with her tanned hands as the wind passed by. Sitting next to her sister, Nakia looked towards the others at the mention of her name.

"H-Hello..."

Bennu answered each question in turn, a smile on her face. "Yeah...I'm in the shop whenever I'm not job-hunting or working on my home..." She blushed slightly. "AS to what I think of it...It's a wonderful place. I feel secure there, and it's so welcoming, even if Lawernce can be a bit of a stick at times. And I LOVE Audley's cheesecake! It's like eating a slice of heaven!" She looked like she would melt in her seat, but seemed to refrain from doing so.

When Nakia spoke up, Bennu pat her on the back gently. "See, it's nice to say even a simple 'hi', ne?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 30, 2006 2:11 pm

IndentElizabeth smiled at Nakia, who had finally looked up to face her. It was obvious she was either shy or scared, perhaps a bit of both. Both Nakia and Bennu had dark sapphire eyes, much different from those Elizabeth had. "Hello," was her only reply back to the quite sibling, as Elizabeth thought she could be...delicate.

IndentBennu, on the other hand, was strong and a ball of fire. She was friendly, especially when a conversation about something like this got started. "I really like the turtle pie and the bread. I'll have to try the cheesecake sometime."

IndentWhen Bennu spoke of Laurence (and Elizabeth had been thinking about this awhile), she suddenly had a thought. "Have you met the little girl, Katrina, yet?" She asked, a mysterious look overtaking her face. "She acts, and even looks a bit like Laurence. I asked if she was his little sister, but he only said that she was 'sort of' or part of the family."

Bennu shook her head. "'Fraid not..." She thought for a moment. "Hmmm...Maybe she's a friend of the family's kid? I know my Mom watched her friend Fakir's daughter for a couple of weeks while he was on a business trip..."

She looked to one of the windows and blinked. "Hmm...they must be in the back. I don't see them." She turned back to her sister and Elizabeth. "So...how long have you lived here?"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 01, 2006 4:55 pm

IndentElizabeth nodded. Katrina could have indeed been a "friend of the family's kid." So, she decided that was the case and didn't think about it anymore. Suddenly, Bennu looked in the window, and observed that no one was inside, or perhaps in the back. All three girls gave each other an uneasy look, but Laurence and Audley were known for spending a TON of time back there. What could they be doing?

Indent"I've lived hear all my life," Elizabeth said, looking down at the almost empty bag of candy. "I remember when this building used to be rented out all the time, or not at all. It used to look really, really bad. Audley has done an amazing job; Laurence, too." Elizabeth gave a gentle smile, hoping that she was emitting a friendly feeling towards Nakia so perhaps she'd speak a bit more.

Nakia blinked. This place hadn't been in good shape? She looked at it, tilting her head, then looked back to her sister and Elizabeth.
"Y-you're lucky. Where I lived...everyone knew you...and was always...in your business." Though she had said a bit more, her voice was still quiet and uncertain. She really wasn't very good with people.

Of course, she'd never tell anyone why she wasn't, not even her sister. But...this other girl seemed to understand what it was like to not have anyone to understand you. "Uhm...What are the schools like here?" Despite her fear of people, she really did like going to school and learning. Nakia never could get enough information in her head.

Bennu blinked, almost panicking. "Ah! That's right! If you're going to be living with me, we have got to get you enrolled in school! Oh...but how to work around things..." The goth girl seemed to space for a bit as she began to think. "Such a troublesome thing to overcome..." She shook her head. "I'm sorry...I'm still trying to get myself situated completely."

Bennu sighed. "It's hard finding a job in this city. Either no one seems to be hiring, or they want me to work insane hours. Or they don't like my look." She twirled a loose strand of hair around one finger. "I just don't see why they think I wouldn't make a good employee...I'm a quick learner, and the customer always comes first!"

Indent"The schools...are fine I suppose," Elizabeth said, frowning. Unlike Nakia, she really disliked school. The staff wasn't that great, and the student council was all about looks. However, it might be different in someone else's eyes.

IndentTurning to Nakia's sister, Bennu, Elizabeth had a thought of something that had happened before. "Have you tried asking this shop for a job? I mean, they probably won't give you something great to do..." She paused for a moment, thinking. "You could try and adverise for them. Make ads in the newspaper, post fliers...heck, you might be able to do that anywhere." Elizabeth smiled, hoping Bennu would like the idea.

IndentA cool breeze began to flow again. The girls all had jackets with them, luckly, and began to put them on. That was, until the wind suddenly stopped. "Blast it," Elizabeth mumbled. "The weather around here is so wierd. One day it's freezing, and the next day is surfing weather. I can't understand it." Elizabeth took out an old pocket watch, raising an eyebrow to look at the time. Gently placing it back in her jacket, she added, "The weather here is almost as mysterious as this bakery."

Bennu blinked. Why hadn't she thought of that before?! Oh...she knew why. She was too busy enjoying the food and being in the presence of two good-looking guys that DIDN'T scare her. Well...Audley could be a bit eccentric at times...

"Ads...Graphic design. Oh! I could finally, maybe, put my art skills to good use!" She looked like she was going to cry tears of happiness. "But! I have to ask, first! Cannot just make assumptions...those get you into soooo much trouble..." She looked a bit downcast at that thought, but quickly smiled again. "Thank you so much, Elizabeth! Well, I promised Nakia I'd get her food, so we'll see you later. Don't be a stranger!" With that, she stood up.

Indent"Bye," Elizabeth said softly, gently waving. She watched Nakia and Bennu walked away, a soft breeze blowing. Elizabeth also stood, taking her bag of candy. She walked around to the front of the table, she had been sitting in the back, and looked at the front of the shop. It really had changed over the years. Audley was amazing--that is, with his renovations and baking skills. Turning around, Elizabeth walked towards her house at a medium pace. After about fifteen steps you could no longer see Elizabeth, but you could still hear the tapping of her heels on the concrete path. The table outside the shop bakery was once again empty.
