'Soft little fruit..exposed and easy to pick.' Izusa mumbled as she stood in the meadow that flanked the Village. Izusa had returned, spent far too much time away on her own, and most of that had been in the Indian Burial ground, a dank place that echoed with the wind..or the call of lost spirits some might say. She pawed the ground, the soft mud passing through the cleft in her cloven hoof, her wings opening for a stretch and then settling. 'And what of the ones that feed on the juice of the fruit? Are they still there, little lives, little minds.' she snorted, shaking her head. The day was bright but the air cold. She needed to find a place to shelter for when winter truly hit and so had slowly drifted back here. For now she simply stood, sun warming a back that had felt little of its rays these past months.

Strange...so very strange. Guilian had been out and about, taking advantage of the strong winds that heralded the coming of winter to get some far-flung aerial exercises in. But he hadn't encountered on spying a female, not so soon after takeoff.
Naturally drawn to the female sex as he was, the red stallion nevertheless liked to examine first before making his approach. Folding back his wings slightly, he spiralled down towards the ground, taking note of a things as he did so. For one thing, this mare had horns. Horns, a peculiar tail, and wings such as he had seen on no mare before...but on one distinctive stallion.
Smiling to himself, Guilian gently alighted on the ground a short distance away from Izusa. There was really no explanation; he had to be looking at a kalona. And for all the spikes, she wasn't bad looking!

Izusa shivered, turning a little, sunlight glinting of her silvery-purple pelt a little as she moved. Her tendrilled tail whipped the ground, indescision making her stand her and simply watch as the life within the Village carried on before her eyes. She turned away, intent on heading to the stream for a drink and then stopped as she saw the winged stallion. 'He is blood.' she said, her head tilted to one side as she regarded him. 'Does he make the other's bleed or is it just a pretty pretty show?'

His black eyes glinted appreciatively as the kalona mare turned, showing off a fine silhouette and an intriguingly shiny pelt, one almost metallic in its sheen. Yes, kalonas couldn't possibly be as bad as he'd heard, not if it was possible for them to look this way.
As she looked at him and spoke, though, he found himself suddenly more confused than he'd ever been when dealing with a mare before. She was looking at him without looking AT him...as though he wasn't really there, but was a statue or a painting. How very strange. Still, for all he knew this could be some sort of test.
"Bleeding others is not high on my list of priorities, Chica; my color is maintained wholly by myself through my own efforts, in which case I'd say it's just a show. But it is at least an attention grabbing show, no?" As he spoke, he kept an eye on her; she seemed like the type he should take his time approaching...but even that type had its weaknesses!

She regarded him without words, sharp eyes taking in the curl to his mane and tail, the feathered wings and his own appreciative looks towards her. 'Your colour should be on a kalona, it is wasted on bird wings like you.' she said, making more sense and sounding more snippish. She bared the tiny fangs in her mouth and made a sibilant hissing noise. 'I am wondering if you will taste of blood or cherries.' she queried out loud, almost to herself. A part of her still lucid mind wondered why he was stood talking to a Kalona as if she were any other of their kind. Another, buried instinct found his male scent pleasing to her nostrils.

"Obviously the forces that be decided that the color would be better suited to me than to a Kalona, Chica, and who am I to argue with that?" Quirking a brow, Guilian maintained his casual stance a few paces away, his keen eye taking in every fidget the strange mare made. In particular, he was drawn to the glimmer of fangs...those were quite the teeth she had there, which raised the question of whether or not she was the type who used them in all situations; he was betting yes.
"As to what I taste like, that's something you'd have to find out on your own, Chica; that would best suit you to making up your own mind, yes?" Tilting his head to one side, Guilian smiled in a manner both inviting and teasing. She was an interesting one, this mare...and he'd always been fond of the interesting ones.

'Bite yourself and tell me,' she retorted, not interested in doing so now that it was something the stallion wouldnt mind her doing. 'So is blood looking for his lady love, his squealing babbies? Or does he have no purpose other then to admire a beauty beyond his reach?' Izusa's wings opened, stretching to their full span before she folded them again. In the times when her mind wasnt working tricks on her, she often wondered what it would be like to have foals of her own, spread the Kalona blood further into the lands.

Smiling a bit bemusedly, Guilian shook his head in response to the mare's 'order'. "No can do, Chica; what is acceptable when done by someone else holds neither allure nor interest when done by one's self." Cocking his head to one side, the cardinal stallion adjusted the wayward rose behind his ear, though his attention remained fixed on the mare. She had a lovely set of wings; very much like Ariston's had been, albeit shinier and more colorful. Very colorful, in fact.
But whatever was going on in her head, she was starting to get WAY out there in terms of thought processes. Babies? As though he was the type; the very idea was laughable. Not that he couldn't make them, nor that they would be anything but the picture of beauty and strength...he just didn't feel inclined to take up the necessary responsibility just yet, thanks very much. "Dunno if 'love' is the best word for it, Chica, and who says there need to be foals involved to be commited? I'll have you know that some of the most sincere joinings have involved no children a'tall." He wasn't really sure what she meant by that whole little spiel, but at the same time, wondered if she herself knew!

Izusa snorted at him. 'There are no sincere joinings. Love is a trick, love ruins you. Affection makes you weak. The only true reason for a joining is to further the species, and even then it should be as brief as the act requires.' Her wings rustled again, and she paced, looking at Guilian. Clarity fled again and she snapped at a fly that wasnt there, looking over at the Village. 'What is blood doing near the two-legged ones then? Does he serve them, want to protect them?'

Whoa, love? Now the mare was really starting to see things, or hear things, or some other semblence of borderline insanity. As a gentleman, Guilian simply couldn't allow himself to let her go on like this; it was downright embarrassing!
"I think that we are at cross-purposes, Chica. When I speak of sincerity, I do not refer to commitment; I refer to sheer enjoyment. While I understand and appreciate the value of passion as a means of procreation, limiting oneself to such banal purposes is to cheat oneself out of true pleasure. And such pleasure is the true definition of a sincere joining, one that both participants enjoy on a truly personal level."
As he spoke, the cardinal stallion had started to approach the mare; perhaps he was being fool-hardy in approaching one so so obviously unbalanced, but how could he expect her to believe him if she didn't seen he was sincere? "I have no idea what you mean by serving the two-leggers though, Chica; while it is true that I frequent the home of one from time to time when I run out of roses, I can't say there's an exceptionally strong tie." He needed to roam, to be on his own to work his magic on the mares of the world! No way he'd settle down with a two-legger; that would be even worse than monogamy! "I'm here now because I just needed to get some new roses, actually...but I highly doubt you have the same reasons."

The more Guilian spoke the less foggy her mind was becoming. Finally she could think clearly again and she let out a sibilant hissing noise, baring the tiny fangs again. 'So you are saying you join with mares for pure pleasure? I wonder what they truly think of that..most I have know would find love in any small gesture from a stallion.' her tail flicked, the tendrils kicking up mud. 'Flowers? You collect flowers?' there was a strong sound of contempt in her voice at that notion. And here she had thought he might be one of the rare Soquili that werent Kalona that she could grudgingly get along with. For all his words he was as weak as the rest.

As Izusa went flicking up mud, Guilian neatly stepped to the side; mare or no, he didn't enjoy letting anyone get him dirty, not even himself. In fact, it could almost be said that filth was one of the few things that the overamorous stallion counted as a complete turnoff.
Still, neither he himself nor this mare was dirty, so...
"I assure you, Chica, that never once have I encountered even the slightest bit of disaproval from the mares I choose to join with. Quite the contrary, they are usually so pleased with my efforts that they often wish to repeat the process." Unfortunately, sometimes that desire to repeat could become so restrictive and clingy that he was forced to break one of his cardinal rules of wooing, 'never leave abruptly'. Ah, the bittersweet fate of those that allowed their hearts to get the better of their heads! He always pitied those that thought he could be tied down, for such was not his way, nor had it ever been.
However, once again his mind was straying off topic, musing philosophical issues with no bearing on the situation. He was reminded of this fact when Izusa all but spat her remark about his flowers in his face, causing the stallion to actually smile wider. "Collect flowers? Chica, you amuse me so with the innocence of your logic. What would I do with flowers if they didn't have some sort of use to me?"
As he spoke, he shook his head enough to dislodge the rose that nestled behind his ear, the black flower floating down to where Guilian caught it on one upraised forehoof. "You'd be surprised what effect a simple flower can have on the passions of even the most inhibited of mares, Chica, particularly if the delivery is right."

'You tell me,' she said, her voice lowering. He seemed to believe he had some sort of power with mares..an arrogance that he could get what he wanted and have them begging for more. 'I am not most mares.' Izusa said, clipping forward so that she was in his space. Her tail coiled around, the tendrils slithering a little onto his shoulders. 'Do you think you would live through seducing me?' Again she smiled, the action slightly 'off', her canines showing. She hungered for something..meat had come into her diet later in life but it was very enjoyable. But this felt like a different need.

Perhaps Guilian was borderline suicidal. Or perhaps it was merely that he was intrigued by an undeniably different situation. Regardless, he didn't even flinch as the kalona mare moved into his space, her spiked tail remarkably close to the vulnerable veins in his neck and her pointed teeth a reminder that this breed could be dangerous...dangerous on more levels than just the physical. Though it was hard to forget the physical at the moment.
Thus the situation had become a game, but a game of a more serious level. Would she or wouldn't she...and would he be able to fight if she decided to follow thorugh on her thinly veiled threat?
Well, Guilian had never suffered from insecurity, and if anything the danger of the situation was providing more of a rush than a deterant. "Chica, I'd think that the one who accused you of being like the rest would need to have his head examined at the very least. But for all that you are not like most others, you are still a mare when it comes down to it, are you not?"
Maintaining his careless pose even with the eerily creepy mare in his face, he returned her smile with one of his own, one that was both amused and interested. "As for your question...seduction comes on many levels, Chica; the question is, would you find the experience such a abhorent one to endure?" Might as well cut to the chase when the situation called for it!

Interesting.... He did not flinch and she let the tendrils coil a little around his neck, wings gently rustling as she made what was for her gestures of affection. 'I was the first you know..' she whispered close to his ear, then grazed his neck with her fangs, enough to hurt a little but not to draw any blood. 'I was the only one for so long. No spikes..no tail like mine. They were all delicate and I was hard.' She moved her mouth away again and gave a little squeeze with her tail. 'I will take what you have to offer. And probably leave you wanting more..I am not all there..and you are blood. And I like blood.'
