Bland Fiction based on disproven out there myths.
Watch the Discovery Channel show picking apart the claims of the guy who's "Research" was the basis for the fictional work The Da Vinci Code.

The facts are totally off, and the storyline is a bit rubbish, but it helped raised people conciousness about the authencity of the Bible, which I think is a good thing.

I absolutely loved the book, but I haven't seen the movie yet. I think it had a great storyline, though it WAS very sac-religious. I am a Christian and have no doubts about my beliefs and I kinda feel bad for the people who hate this book merely because it goes against there religion. First off, the author has already stated that he did NOT write this book trying to make people believe all this stuff; he was just writing a fictional story that he hoped many people would enjoy. In fact, a lot of the stuff in the book was totally made up anyway. And second, I think it's a good thing to read or listen to something that goes against your religion; it could provide you with more knowledge to fight for you religion if it is ever questioned by anyone.

i dont mind the book, its a great piece of fiction.. but, i dislike how many people took it to an unintended level and went on to doubt things based off of false claims. its not really the book fault, just the way people recieved it is what i disliked.

Quote: Fact:The Priory of Scion—a European secret society founded in 1099—is a real organization. [...] All depictions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate. (Verbatim from my copy, right down to the colour and size of the "Fact:". If he doesn't want people to believe the stuff he writes, maybe he shouldn't stick great big headers saying "Fact" above it.

Bubbleable I don't know why thay book has been getting so much publicity, The guy just made the stuff in that book up. Simply because it became famous and the media needed someone to pick on, it happens to everything famous, if the media needs a rag doll to kick around they find one.
Anyway, I didnt read the book, I have read all of Dan Browns other books [the 3] and I liked them all, but I found they were all the same;; it was all about some university teacher or professor or scientist hot rod who has to go on some secret mission by some highly prestigious organization to dig up some sappy mystery, he runs into a beautiful intellegent woman who helps him fill the case, they fall in love they almost face death a few times, they find the big bad they fix the problem they bang in an extremely expensive suite in some highly classy city like Washington D.C., Paris, or London.
I accidently did not read the Da Vinci Code, I just ran into his other three books while in airports, bought them read them while on the plane and I havent gotten around to reading his most famous work, I actually dont want to because I know its going to be the same.
Also; moving this to debate & discussion because Da Vinci Code is such a controversal subject, otherwise threads like this belong in Entertainment Discussion and not the Knowledge Forum.

Well I REALLY enjoy Dan Brown's books. All of them. They are very entertaining.
I think it is totally ridiculous that the DaVinci Code, could change peoples belief in God. If a FICTION book can do that, then those people never really had faith.

Movie was okay.
As for all the controversy, I don't konw why Christians even both defending their religion against something so petty as a work of fiction. People who grow aggravated at such literature must be weak in faith as Dan Brown is very well known for distorting facts to befit his own plots.

It wasn't bad at all but the Spanish government grew angry for the Brown's protrayal their country in his book.

I don't see why everyone is complaining. Religious people have said scientists are allies of the devil, the most evil thing in existence, and Da Vinci's Code just says Jesus had a child (oh so horrible) yet you don't see so much media against religious people. As for albinos, the villain is commonly a European male and you don't see them complaining nor do you see women complaining when the villain is a woman.
