to keep to the rules I thought I'd make my own thread of art so I'm not making it messy everywhere sweatdrop xp I read the rules and I'm not sure if I was supposed to post a thread somewhere for you to read it and check up on it before posting? but anyway, if it's not appropriate just delete it sweatdrop this is one of my life drawings...there isn't any explicitness really..there are no "rude bits" on it, so I hope it complies to the rules sweatdrop ..all you can see is his leg and chest. I used charcoal and chalk to do this drawing. we had to experiment with round curving lines to create depth. It's my first lying down pose, so feel free to comment and criticise or give advice on life drawing 3nodding http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/DSC00481.jpgand this is another life drawing..again no nudity..all you can see is a leg and hand because we had to concentrate on one area, so there isn't even a body in here sweatdrop xp we had to experiment with blocks of colour using pastels and several tones 3nodding http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/DSC00437.jpg

neato! i like the use of the curving lines; somehow it makes the person look more 3D and a little more meaty. the only thing im not fond of is the hand. i can imagine that part must have been murderous if you were only using curved parts, but i would try and work on it a bit (when i first saw it i didn't know what it was). the whole picture is very well rendered though; you've done very well with the foreshortening (better than i could do at this point....foreshortening is my enemy)
in the second one, i really like the colors you've used. it looks so fluid and smooth with the blocks of color in there. however, it took me a minute to figure out what was going on as far as body position (except the hand and the knee; i got that right off the bat, lol). this could be attributed to the fact that the concentration was in specific areas, though.
i like what you've got here. and...i'm not sure what you're asking as far as the rules; everything looks good to me mrgreen

thanks for the feedback! Glad you like them xp hands are a bugger to draw, but I'm improving xp the position of the model in the second picture was so hard to draw, I think that's been the toughest one yet..I don't like laying down positions sweatdrop plus we only have a given time limit to work on them...so I have to plan the time and work with what I've got before I have to start shading in sweatdrop

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/LifeDrawing22-graphitestickdrawnonf.jpg ^ another life drawing (no nudity)..I concentrated on a section, just the legs. We had to use graphite stick for this, and used an A2 piece of paper and had to draw it on the floor..whilst sitting on the floor. It was new to me xp
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/LifeDrawing17-colouredchalks.jpg ^Another life drawing (no nudity). This time the model wore a sheet around his body and put his arm behind his head. I'm going to crop the top bit off, so that his chin isn't on the image, cause I don't like that bit. I haven't really finished this piece yet, cause the shading is very rough, just to fill in gaps so I can go over them later when I have time. We had to pick 2 colours of chalk for this 3nodding
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/recycledframe2.jpg ^This is a photo frame I made for the last project I did, which was using recycled materials. I made collages of portraits using bits of coloured paper and items such as bits of pipe, wire, keys, buttons etc. I then photographed them and nailed them to a piece of wood which I painted, and then glued various recycled items around the edge 3nodding

coolio. you did a nice job on these life drawings. oh, a sheet, so that's what that is! lol, i was totally lost on what all that extra shading was sweatdrop
i like the last one the best for two reasons: it's really cool to look at, all creative flow and stuff, and because it reminds me of a pretty recent SB email (homestarrunner.com/sbemail or some such thing) which speaks about home made gifts mrgreen
but seriously, these are pretty flippin neat.

Obviously these are exercises in media so we can't really see what you do when left to your own devices, but you're obviously a very good draftsman. Draw from life and draw all you can! It'll only get better, i.e. more fun.

Thankyou for the comments. I don't get up to much drawing in my own time, because of studying art all the time, in my own time I like to do something else sweatdrop I do photography often, but I study that too...but you can never tire of photography xp I haven't drawn anything for myself outside of a project for about..a year sweatdrop I have a picture you can see though that I drew the last time I sat down to draw for myself:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/BLADETRINITY-2005.jpg ^ I used different grades of pencil to draw this picture of Blade from the Blade Trinity poster
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/death1-2002.jpg ^ I used chalk on black card to draw this picture of the Grim Reaper from a poster.

Well... I don't know what level of study you're at but eventually it should be the case that whatever you want to work on is the project, so no separation of work for study and work outside.
The illustrations are cool and all but given the other stuff in this topic I just wanna see you do more stuff from life, anything.

true. at the moment, we get a choice of projects and we can manipulate them into anything we want, which I really enjoy but I haven't done much drawing lately cause I'm concentrating on photography, which is my main specialism. Drawing still life, even if it's not the stereotypical still life (fruit or something) has just never interested me sweatdrop I like drawing people but alot of patience is needed sweatdrop when I have something I've drawn myself, without thinking of a project, I'll post it, but it could be, a long time xp

and so I finally have some more work which I think is fairly ok to show you guys.
I'm currently working my Final Major Project on Pre Degree, and I'm basing it on Rock Music.
This pic is a drawing I did from one of my own photographs of my friend playing his guitar. I used a felt pen to dot the pic (it took me ages sweatdrop ) http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h66/chaoskfimages/Dotguitar.jpg
This one is a painting of a drum I did in acrylics http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h66/chaoskfimages/drum.jpg
This one is a painting I did in the style of Jackson Pollock (my idol lol ). I listened to Crawling by Linkin Park and used colours and paint marks to express what I heard: http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h66/chaoskfimages/musicpainting-crawling3.jpg so for example, the song is quite soft and sad during the verses, and it has a cold atmosphere, so I used the colour blue to show this. The chorus' are very shouty and angry, so I used red for that. The swirl in the center was created from squeezing the paint straight from the bottle...and this represents the sound at the beginning of the song, because it sounds like water swirling down a plughole.
This painting is another one I did whilst listening to Crawling. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h66/chaoskfimages/musicpainting-crawling2.jpg

i like your pointilism picture. i think you probably could have gone a bit darker in some parts (but it takes forever anyway; i imagine you were sick of it by this point). i really like the view of it--it's a nice shot.
that drum...again, nice shot. i love the composition of it. it almost doesn't look like a drum because of it...i like that. great job with the metal and such. it looks like you used a lot of water in your acrylics, as i do mrgreen
i can't really say much about your other paintings aside from "that's neat looking" (which is true, lol).

I don't like using watery paints really. I used daubs of colour, it's just that cause I was doing reflections it's given the impression that it's watery...I think xp

This is the first avi art I've ever done, and I wanted it to look like a character from a comic book, hence her proportions not being natural. Looking at it now I realise I've drawn the hands wrong, but oh well; I can fix it on the next one I draw. Also, I'm aware that the left flame wing is a different size than the right one, but I intended this, even though on Gaia they are simetrical...because flames are never identical.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/aviart-gaiablackandredoutfit.jpg
I used Photoshop to colour it, as you can see in my sig, and again this is the first time I've ever done this, so I didn't want it to look realistic; I tried to stick with a simple comic book effect again.
any comments or suggestions, so maybe I could improve next time I draw one?
also, I plan to colour my original drawing but I don't know what to use...any suggestions? I'm not sure I want it to be coloured solidly, like my photoshop version..maybe just hints of colour..I don't know..any comments would be helpful for this. I've also just drawn another similar style of my pirate outfit, but I haven't scanned that in yet. When I do, I'll get it up here.
