Latin, the language of the learned. It is sad that it is no longer spoken. It is such a beautiful language to hear spoken.

I speak a little Latin. If someone came up and started talking to me in Latin I would be totally lost though. I like to sing in Latin. It is such a nice sounding, logical language. I love it.

If they'd have taught Latin at our school, I would have SO bothered to learn that.
But unfortunately, they only offered French and German. Who needs those!? Pft.

Amazing! Incidentally, the Latin pronunciation for modern singing differs from the original pronunciation.

I took Latin for four years and can hardly remember more than "puella et puer" and the first few lines of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."
. . .
Salvete laeti comites Nihil vos terreat Something something Jesus Christus est . . .
Et cetera, et cetera . . . smile

In high school Latin II was taught my freshman year, but I believe the teacher quit soon afterwards, so I took Spanish instead. If you sign up for "Word of the Day" e-mails, you get the Latin roots of the words, which can be pretty interesting.

Latinum optimum dicere non possum.
I think that's how to say, "I am not able to speak Latin very well." I am taking Latin at my school, but I'm not too great at translating or composing sentences.

asgard_seven Latinum optimum dicere non possum. I think that's how to say, "I am not able to speak Latin very well." I am taking Latin at my school, but I'm not too great at translating or composing sentences. It would be more like "Latinam bene non dico." == I do not speak Latin well. .. which I guess is true.

I took a full year of Latin in 9th grade.. It was.. amazing. I love it. Then we moved and they only had Spanish here (and lords do I HATE spanish for some reason). But at my first high school, we would actually converse with eachother in Latin for grades. It was pretty cool. We had to try to think of ways to get acros with Latin, for osme of the new things, like a 'game console' and such.

I have never heard Latin spoken or sung, but I do wish to learn how to speak Latin. Since I am only in the eighth grade I have had no opportunity to learn to speak Latin. The only phrase I know is: "Omnia romae venalia sunt.", "Hell has its price."
