Alright, well I'm sure if you visit the Shonen Jump Thread in the Naruto General Discussion you'll see me and Hina getting off topic and talking about Shojo Beat. sweatdrop Among other things... So, partically in hopes of staying on topic there, I made this thread about Shojo Beat.
If you've ever read a manga that Shojo Beat sponsors don't you ever get the feeling in revolves around love a little more than Shonen Jump?
Personally, I do. It might just be me, but out of the two manga I've read from them, Skip*Beat and Full Moon, the story lines have both been about these women/girls either becoming famous to find their love or get revenge on the man they loved.
Now, unlike Shonen Jump, I do not know the ins and outs of this manga yet. Though I sometimes get the vibe that this is for 13 year old girls, Shonen Jump 13 year old boys, so I have a feeling yaoi and yuri pairings won't be likely to happen in these manga either.
Why did I name the thread "Shojo Beat: Shonen Jump's Compeditor?", because even girls like to read action stories.There is only one guy in our guild sweatdrop So, why can't guys just as easily like to read ones about deception and love. Revenge and pain, through a diffrent way? Even if they say that Shonen Jump is made for 13 year old boys, it doesn't mean they wouldn't try to grab the girls in either. Same for Shojo Beat, that doesn't mean they wouldn't try to get 13 year old boys interested in their manga.

Full Moon, now THAT'S a sad manga. Skip*Beat isn't that good...I dislike the art...
But yes, you don't see many guys reading Absolute Boyfriend or Nana in their spare time...There are some VERY good Shojo Beat manga where the main character is a guy. The only one I can think of...
I forget the name....DAMMIT. I'll edit this later, once I go upstairs and get the magazine and see what it was called.

It is kinda sad though, knowing that she won't just get the damned opperation so she can live. Though I get why she doesn't want it. D: And then she has to die in a year. x.x
xD I know. Most of them won't unless they're like...feminine. -.-;

Shojo is just SO pretty, which is one of the reasons I enjoy it. Lots of angst, too.

SHOJO BEAT!!! OH MY GOSH I HAVE EVERY SINGLE ISSUE EVER PUBLISHED AND OWN NUMEROUS VOLUMES OF THE MANGA I LOVE SHOJO BEAT!!!!! *breathes* *ahem* I also dont understand why a guy cannot get into shojo. A lot of shojos have action, drama, and other stuff that guys would enjoy. They are not all completely focused on a sappy love story. I can easily pick up a volume of naruto or bleach and enjoy it, so why cant a guy pick up a volume of, say, fushigi yugi (which has a fair amount of fight scenes) and enjoy it? *sigh* Quote: There are some VERY good Shojo Beat manga where the main character is a guy.
