Israel was out in the courtyard, the grey day reflecting her mood as she sat at one of the picnic benches, her sketchpad before her, though the page remained blank. Everything was supposed to be better now, but she couldn't seem to get herself back on track. She felt as if she were one step behind everybody around her and was struggling to keep her head afloat. It wasn't a pleasant feeling, but still she tried her best, if only to maintain appearances. Sighing, she folded her arms on top of the book before her and rested her chin on them as she stared down at the blank page. Aya had told her she just needed time to heal, but she wanted the emptiness to go away now.

Ra had been walking when he spotted Israel. So wrapped up in Obie and his studies it had been a long while since he had seen his best friend. He watched her for a moment, there was something not right. An absence of her bright smile and enthusiasm. Frowning a little he made his way over and took a seat opposite.
"This just won't do." He said leaning on his own arms and peering down at her. "You cannot be one of my guardian angels with such a long face."

Israel looked up at the sound of Ra's voice and managed a small smile as she sat up and brushed her hair back off her forehead.
"Hey. I haven't seen you in a while," she smiled softly and looked down as she smoothed her hand over the blank paper. "Since when am I a guardian angel?" she asked, glancing up at him again.

"Since always." He said with a smile and looked down at her sketchbook. It was unusually blank. He looked up at her and noticed the sadness in her eyes.
"Can I draw a picture of you?" He asked with a slight smile, gesturing to her pencils. "You look like you need a laugh and I think my art might be just the trick."

Again Israel smiled, though her heart just wasn't in it.
"Sure. I'd be honored to have some of your art," she said setting her bag of pencils on the sketchbook and sliding it across the table to him. She watched him rummage around for a moment, then looked up at him properly.

"How have you been? Been spending a lot of time with Obie?" she asked, maintaining the small smile as she looked back down to the table and traced her finger along its surface.

He smiled like a three year old who had been given crayons as he took the sketch pad and the pencils and set to work.
"I've been good." He said looking up as he attempted to sketch out her face. "And have admittedly turned into one of those people I hate who is totally caught up in their relationship and school. It's terrible." he laughed a little and tilted his head to the side as he concentrated on the page. "How about you though Izzle, how have you been? It's unusual to see you so down. I'm the mopey one remember."

"Izzle?" she repeated and looked back up at him. She watched him work for a moment then smirked a little.
"Oh right. I forgot," she said softly, watching him move the pencil over the page. "I've been okay. Just... a lot of stuff came up suddenly and you know how I am with stress," she said, attempting a wry smile and small shrug.

"It's not so bad for you to be caught up in school and your relationship. I don't think I have ever seen you so happy, so truly, how could it be a bad thing?" she asked, smirking a little at his attempt to draw her. It was fairly amusing really.

Ra shrugged and attempted to sketch her mouth. How was it he could draw the most detailed pictures of the inside of the body, but when it came to the outside he sucked.
"I think it's bad if I don't notice that my best friend isn't happy." He said looking up to her and smiling. "Though that just means I'm going to try and cheer you up." Smiling he began to scribble away at what was meant to represent her hair. "So, it's too cold for the beach how about we go for ice cream? or pizza? Chocolate fudge or a new yorker ... or both?"

"Yeah, well... I've been gone for a while. So I was easy to miss," she said as she breathed in and reached up to run her fingers through her hair. Smirking as he mused on what to do, she dropped her hands down to her lap and wrapped them loosely around her stomach.

"I didn't think you were a big chocolate person," she mused as she watched him. In all honesty, she had lost her appetite and wasn't sure if she would be able to get much of either down. But she knew he was trying his best and she really didn't feel like dumping her problems on him too, so she smiled lightly and shrugged a little. "I guess pizza would be a good place to start."

Ra gave her another concerned look and put the finishing touches to his masterpiece. He signed and drew a heart under the signature, holding it up and turning it around to show her.
"What do you think?" he asked with a grin. "Do you think I could be famous?"

Raising an eyebrow he reached his hand across the table for her to take.
"Come on, lets go. You can tell me about it if you want, though unlike some people not far away from me I'm not going to pressure you."

Looking up as he held her portrait up, she laughed softly and gave her head a small shake.
"A regular Picasso. You probably could make a great deal of money if just the right person came to see your work," she smirked. As he reached across the table, she looked at his hand then back up to his eyes. Smirking again, she slipped her things into her bag and took his hand in hers briefly before sliding it up to hold his arm as they began to walk off together.

"It worked though, didn't it?" she asked, looking up at him as she hugged his arm gently.

Ra laughed and hugged her arm as they walked.
"Well, maybe I won't give up my day job." He laughed as they headed out of the campus and towards the Pizza parlour. "Mm, yeah, it worked a little. Though making me smile and realise it wasn't the end of the world worked more." He sighed as they walked in the cold air. "Are you doing anything fun for christmas?" He asked, turning to smile at her a little.

Is swallowed and looked off as he led her off campus.
"Um... I'm not sure. I know it's going to be spent with Giani, but my dad hasn't really said anything about coming to visit or flying me out. So who knows? How about you? What are you going to be doing? Flying out to London or sticking around?" she asked, leaning her head against his shoulder. He wasn't Giani, but he was a good substitute. He had always had a comforting aura, even more so since he had come back from his world travels.

"Um I think I might be going to Obie's parents with her. My family don't celebrate christmas for obvious reasons, so I'm quite excited about seeing how it's done properly." He smiled and slipped an arm around her shoulder. It troubled him to see her so down. She usually had such an amazing to laugh and make those around her do the same. "How is Giani? I haven't seen him for ages either. Still up to his old tricks?"

Is slipped her arm around Ra's waist and leaned into him as his arm wrapped around her shoulders and nodded her head a bit.
"Of course," she said softly. "He's been sticking close to Tokyo to keep working on his commissions. But... he's doing good," she smiled lightly. She could feel the tears starting to sting her eyes, but she wouldn't cry. She refused to let herself cry anymore. She -had- to get over this and forcing herself to move on was the only way she knew how.
