He was splayed out on the driveway of his house, chin propped in his hands, bright blue eyes scanning a ponderously large old book that was spread out in front of him, full of cramped writing and intricate step-by step images. It was a strange book at first look, but it was a magic book, and Flitch was determined to learn all he could from it.
Yet even so, it was slow going. The magic spells, even the simple ones, were long and complex, and almost always seemed to require odd things to make them work. Some of it was easy to find, but other things were harder. Like how was he supposed to find a butterfly cocoon in this early winter weather? Varlen had all the things and more, but the dark elf had told Flitch that if he wanted to learn magic, he had to get everything for it himself.
So until he had enough money, Flitch was to content himself on studying the book, memorizing the words and sometimes practicing the arm motions. Yet mostly he simply read, studying the diagrams and such.

Sanrio walked quickly down the sidewalk. She was going to the grocery store. She rarely ever did this but for some reason, there was nothing in the house.
She pushed Ronin, dressed in his usual panda attire, complete with red neck ribbon, hood up, in his stroller. The tot was getting heavy and it took too much out of Sanrio to carry him all the way there. Let alone carry him back with a load of groceries.
Ronin flailed happily in his seat turning this way and that to watch everything passing by. There were cars. People. Insects. Flowers. So much was around to distract him. He was going by a house where a blue haired boy was reading a book. He loved books. so many pretty pictures.
"Ieeee!" Ronin squealed lunging up and out towards the boy.
"Ronin, sweetie, do not do that or you will fall out!" Sanrio scolded taking one hand from the handle and pushing the butter boy into his seat. Ronin jolted at the touch and the stroller fishtailed. A wheel fell off and rolled right into the book the boy was reading.
Sanrio went to snatch it up quickly, feeling awkward entering someone else's driveway. "Sorry about that."

"It's all right," the fish Sin' responded genially, picking up the broken wheel and rising to hand it back to the lady who had been pushing the stroller. He had been so absorbed in his reading that Flitch had at first not even noticed them coming, which was rare. He liked to smile and say hello to any passerbys who happened to pass his house. Yet the little baby seemed like an eager one, all noisy and chipper. Flitch thought he was cute.
Smiling at the baby, Flitch waggled his hand and grinned before turning to the lady. "He's cute," he said, obviously referring tot he baby. "What's his name?"

Sanrio smiled and took the wheel. "Thanks. His name is Ronin." She said taking the panda boy out of his seat and placing him on the ground next to her. "Stay!" She said firmly as she tipped the stroller over to put on the wheel.
She wiggled it. She beat on it. She did everything possible to it, that is not everything she could have done, had she had the correct tools.
"Argh! It is busted!" She grumbled. "What the heck...." Sighing she pocketed the wheel and uprighted the stroller. "Alright Ronin, back home." She said going to pick him up.
"Ronin?" She turned to see him grab for the other child's reading material.
Ronin was thrilled to be put on the ground. He really wanted to see what type of pictures were in the other boy's book.
"See?" He asked reaching for the book.
