A mass of dark clouds had gathered in the sky above the graveyard. It looked like there would be rain, but chanses are that it was just passing by, the graveyard didn't get much rain. Nonetheless, Yakuti sat atop a pile of bones, watching them.

"Come on, you stupid clouds, move along." He growled. The blue hyena always got rather moody when the weather was gloomy.

He scowled as the clouds defiantly stayed put, irritating Yakuti for some unknown reason. He sighed, and began to ponder the recent events...

He thought of Jamaa, and what he told him about love, he thought of Shira and her secrets. He thought of his own secrets that Shira knew of him, and why he had little choice other than to stick close to her as much as he could. The mind of the young hyena continued to wander through many subjects, from Topas, to Shira, to Jamaa, to Goma, back to Shira, to Mafa, back to Shira... For some reason Yakuti couldn't get her out of his head.

"Get ahold of yourself, Yakuti." He told himself angrily, shaking his head as if the action might shake her name and being out of his skull. It didn't work, merely made his vision hazy for a moment.

Yakuti sighed and let his mind wander again, this time it ended up on his conversation with Jamaa. "I wonder if you love someone if you always think about them..." He said absentmindely, staring off into space as his mind continued to drift in and out of thinking about Shira.

"Thinking of who?"

Her rough voice called out from behind him. She only caught the tail of his sentence and she repeated it back as a question. Who was he thinking of? Was there a female in this young hyena's life? She smirked. She planned to pick at him for it a lot. She was gonna enjoy tormenting the little one about the one he "thought about".

"Well, who is it, Yakuti? Who is it, is it Mafa? Or maybe is it Kellelo? Heh, or maybe it is Tibuka! "

Maybe he may not find it funning, but she surely did. The tawny hyena moved around the male in circles. Her green eyes peering at him, looking, watching. It would be quite strange if he was thinking of Kellelo after what Shira had told him the day before. What if he was thinking of Mafa? That would bring a horrid end to the hyena if she discovered...or would it. She could see it now, Yakuti taking his place beside Mafa as the male Alpha of the pack. She chuckled at the thought and continued her grin.

Eventually she sat down beside him and looked up at the dark clouds. A storm was gathering...however, since he had been here in the graveyard, he had yet to see any rain in it. Strange. She had forgotten Yakuti's 'thinking' and focused on other things.

"Have you spoken to Mafa, Yakuti? About Onoa?"

She asked calming in her rough voice. Her voice was always rather rough, but the tone behind it was always hidden under it. No one really knew if she was being nice or sarcastic. Eventually, she just gave up on it and just spoke.

Yakuti flinched as he heard that familiar voice behind him, heart racing and mind working furiously to try to think of a name to replace hers, at least for now. He jumped down from the pile of bones skittishly and decided to play dumb.

"What? Thinking of who? What are you talking about, Shira?" He asked, trying to keep his voice casual and clueless.

"Mafa? Kellelo? Tibuka? Why would I be thinking of them?" He continued, shrugging slightly, but accepting her change of subject gratefuly.

"Not yet, I haven't been able to find her." He said truthfuly, "But I'll try to bring Omoa to her tomorrow." He finished with a smile, sitting himself down and looking at Shira innocently.

"Well, I got a glimpse of the Alpha not too long ago, but just for a moment before she went off on her business. Perhaps next time you should just wait at her den and then it assure you an audience with her...Unless she kills you for being there to begin with. Then again, I doubt she would 'kill you'"

She smirked and looked down to him from the corner of her eye. He seemed a bit...strange right now. Was there soemthing wrong?

"Yakuti...did we not promise to not keep things from one another? What is wrong with you? You are acting strange and I will not have it while I am around."

She scoffed and got up, she began around him and started away. After all, she was still on her patrol. It was not 'her' patrol, it was more of a random walk around the graveyard.

"Come, Yakuti. Give me some company."

"Good idea, Shira. I'll do that." He said, forcing a smile.

Yakuti sighed, thinking about the situation for a moment before speaking. "Yeah, we did promise." He said with a shrug. He had to keep his promises, right? "Nothing is wrong, I was just thinking out loud, that's all."

Yakuti stood and went to stand beside Shira, "Okay, I can do that." He said half heartedly. He didn't really want to talk with Shira right now, she'd get it out of him eventually that it was her he was talking about, he just knew it.

Shira remained silent as she continued to walk on. Her ears were always perked forward, always alert. Her green eyes remained open to everything around them, to every crevasse, to every hole, to the distances, and now and again to Yakuti beside her to make sure he was there alright. Her paws moved underneath her and her head held high. She kept her watch even outside her shift. She was gonna make sure this place was safe for everyone and make sure she got a good fight out of it.

Shira moved into skulls and out the other side to make sure there was no one around. She moved upon rib cages to make sure no one was hiding behind the single coulombs of the deceased. She climbed the vertebrates to get to higher ground and then jump down to continue her search. She under turned skulls, peaked down hollow skulls.

The entire time she kept on walking and searching without so much as a word to her male friend.

Yakuti was beginning to feel rather akward as they went about searching the graveyard... Partly because Shira didn't say anything to him, and partly because in the back of his mind he couldn't help but wonder to himself if he really did love her, or if it was all in his head.

But somehow it just didn't seem right to him to keep this from her... It would be so strange telling her what he thought may be true though, and he was afraid that she would tell others his secret to get back at him, or worse, she may end up hating him or hurting Omoa.

Yakuti followed Shira nervously, his eyes darting around and examining each object for a moment before moving on. His ears twitched more than usual and he was rather fidgety...

Yakuti told himself it was just the funny weather.

Shira continued her search around the graveyard. Who was suppose to be on duty right now? There had to be someone, if there was, they would run into him or her by now but no one yet. Strange, there wasn't anyone around. It was just...awkward.

Shira turned around to see Yakuti to make sure he was still there and alright. Carefully she slipped herself into a large skull.

"Hey..."

She spoke, to no one in particular. She listened to the voice echo back to her. Shaking her head she stepped out and worked on searching everything. SKull by skull, bone by bone, hill by hill. Shira would not let anything escape her gaze. As she and Yakuti moved on, she would enter a random skull, call out to herself and then leave. Was she searching for intruders...or for something else.

After a while, the female entered another skull and called out again. This time, however, she did not exit.

"Yakuti!"

Yakuti jumped as the previously quiet patrol of the graveyard was interrupted by his name being called. "Shira, you alright?" He called after her, running over to the entrance of the skull. He was beginning to panic for no apparent reason. What if something happened to Shira? What if he never got the chanse to tell her that he might love her?!

"Did you find something?" He asked as he stepped inside the skull, trying desperately to control his breathing. He didn't want to appear weak or worried in front of Shira. He knew she wouldn't approve.

Shira had her back remained to him. Soon she began to walk around him to the entrance, her side always facing him, no eye contact at all. When she was at the entrance, she turned to him, eyes narrowing. Suddenly, surprisingly, she sighed and softened a bit.

"Yakuti, there is something defiantly wrong with you. What is it? Tell me, I got no one else to tell."

Shira let her shoulders fall and her head relaxed. She only relaxed when she was alone with someone she trusted and she was alone with Yakuti. She carefully moved to the male and sat down before him.

"If there is something wrong, tell me and I will take care of it to the fullest. Now, tell me unless you want me to pry it out of you."

With that last sentence she began to give that smirk she gave when they first met. She was different, she never smiled, she always smirked. Her smile was a smirk.

"There's nothing wrong with me Shira..." He said hesitantly.

"At least, nothing that you could do anything about." He said with a sigh. He wondered how bad it would be for her to 'pry it out of him', he wondered if he could make himself say it if she was threatening him or something...

Eventually he decided to give it a shot. "Define the word 'pry', Shira. How bad would it be for me to have this information, or question rather... Pried out of me?" He asked nervously, shifting his weight from one side to the other a couple times before sitting, hoping terribly that once he did ask her, he wouldn't sound too stupid.

"Well, if there is nothing wrong, you would not be acting strange. Where is the brave male I met before?"

"Well, if I 'pry it out of you', then I will get the information I desire like if you told me, however you will be very. very. very sore when morning comes. However, I would feel guilty hurting you. Why not simply tell me what is on your mind and get it over with rather having me worried about you."

Shira flinched a bit.

Did I just say 'worry' about him? s**t...

"If you are like this, then what would happen if we were attacked? Then I have to worry that they will take you out and then they will get to me."

She tried to correct herself...hopefully it worked...if he could figure out what she just said.

"Nothing is wrong... Well, I suppose wrong isn't really the word, more like confused." Yakuti admitted. He didn't like the idea of being very sore in the morning... Especially if Shira did it. She was a force to be reckoned with, that was for sure.

"Wait... Why would you worry about me?" He asked curiously, perhaps she felt the same way about him?

'Don't be absurd, Yakuti... You don't even know if you really love her yet. Don't jump to conclusions...'

"Anyway, earlier, when you found me outside, that was you I kept on thinking about... I don't know why, but I let my mind wander and it kept coming back to you." He admited, pressing his ears back against his head emberassadely.

"I don't really even know what love is, and I just don't know... Shira, do I love you?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 26, 2006 7:21 pm

Shira stampered a bit.

"Yakuti, be serious. Love me? Love me that is impossible! No male could love me. I am nothing but a body of destruction and pain. How could anyone love me? You are just worried about is all, you think of me because you are wor-"

She cut off...he was worried about her would mean that he cared for her. That could be taken to liking her and then to loving...Oh no...

"Yakuti, please, push these thoughts from your mind. They are rubbish to think of when we have our jobs to take care of. I dunno what to tell you what it is that you feel when i am not you. Yakuti. Please forget it."

"I dunno, Shira... You always seemed a bit nicer to me than to the others, and you do live with me." He asked suspiciously. "Wait, didn't you say that you worry about me too? So, what does that mean?"

Yakuti stomped his paw in the dirt, "I will not forget it, and it isn't rubbish! I want to know what's going on with me!" He said rather more loudly than he intended.

"Besides, if you're nothing but a body of destruction and pain, how come you seem to care so much about me, huh? If thats what you are, you wouldn't have been trying to figure out what was wrong with me."
