R O O T S - O F - S O U L - S O C I E T Y - F. A. Q.

Welcome one and all, to the introduction post of the guild F.A.Q. This thread will detail how to get you started here in the guild. It will also detail some of the finer points of how the guild works, so that you have a good idea of what to do, and maybe, not need to ask so many questions.

Some of the most frequently asked questions we have, are how one starts in the guild, where they need to go, and what they need to do. We're hoping to cover all of that below, as well as any questions people might have about the battle system as well.

The 'battle system' area of the F.A.Q. will probably be the longest, but that's okay, we want to make sure everyone understands it, from top, to bottom.

If you have a question that isn't listed here, please let me know and I'll see about adding it and the answer to the list.

M O D E R A T O R - I N F O

Here is where we introduce you to our moderators, and detail what it is they do, exactly. We have several moderators with different purposes.

Kenkaru - Captain: Kenkaru does all of the general running of the guild. As the guild owner, he approves and moderators everything that the moderator team does, when he has time. The battle system was his concept, and while the other moderators may add to it, the credit for it goes to him.

Dischord - Vice Captain: Second in command, temporarily, Dischord deals with things like Shikai, Zanjutsu, Hakuda, and Kidou approval, as well as creating new threads, moving threads, general troubleshooting, FAQ writing (as seen here. xD), granting EXP, helping with storylines, running NPCS, and quite a bit more. For those who need it, her contact info specifically used when troubleshooting, is as follows.

MSN: ran.hana@hotmail.com
AIM: RanHanazakari

Tsai Lin - Crew: Tsai Lin! Without him, we couldn't keep the guild running as smoothly as it does. In charge of creating threads, helping out with experience totals, updating threads, running classes, and doing general 'leg work', he's a very valuable member of the moderating team.

The Paradox - Crew: Every good role-play needs bad guys, and that is where The Paradox specializes. In charge of helping with Battle System amendments, and running the main villains in the guild, he works with the more technical aspect of everything, and assists in approving all techniques as they're pasted up. Without him, Dischord couldn't do her job.

Bleach TROSS Guild Mule - Crew: Run by any member of the Crew at any given time, the Guild Mule is used primarily to send out inactive messages to the members of the guild. Since this has to be done one PM at a time, whoever gets stuck it gets our sympathy. xD

Aradiah - Vice Captain: Unfortunately, Aradiah hasn't been seen in the guild for quite some time (a year roughly), though she was once the primary, and only Vice Captain, and second in charge under Kenkaru. Her section will be updated when she finally returns to us.

G U I L D - Q U E S T I O N S

Q.) So what do I do first?

A.) The first thing you need to do, upon joining, is set aside some time to read through all of the information in the info subforum, as well as the battle system subforum. This way, before you start doing anything else in the guild, you understand Bleach, if you haven't seen the series, or read the manga, and, you know how our battle system works, since its such a heavy part of play. If you have a hard time with the battle system, check our FAQ for it in the info forum, that explains pretty much everything.

Q.) Okay, I read all of that, now what?

A.) Now, you need to get started on your character. Character sheets are located in the Soul Society subforum, in the Records of Soul Society thread, and in the mortal world, under the Ryoka Profile thread. Here, you can find the character sheet format, aka template. Once you have your character designed, you'll need to post your profile. If you're a Shinigami, you'll also have to get your Shikai, and any custom Kidou you want to use, approved before using them in play. Shikai may not be posted to get approved until you reach level 4 in play.

Q.) Can I begin role playing even though my shikai isn't approved yet?

A.) You can start role playing as soon as you have your profile up. Remember to make a journal in the journal subforum before you do any heavy playing, just because it lets the other role-players know what your character thinks about the current things happening to him and reveals storylines, etc. Even if a lot of the information can't be used in character, it helps other people work their characters in around yours.

Q.) Where does my character sheet go?

A.) This question is also answered under another section of the General Questions area of the F.A.Q. Once completed, your character sheet, if your character will be in Soul Society, should go into the Soul Society Profiles thread. If your character will be in the mortal world, the sheet will go into the Ryoka Profiles thread.

Q.) How do I become a member of the crew?

A.) Crew members are selected by Dischord and Kenkaru, and show extreme dedication to the guild, a desire to work together with the other moderators, a knowledge of the guild and it's inner workings, and are selected. Those who request these privileges are automatically denied. This status is offered, and only offered, after you've proven yourself, and been active in the guild for at least six months.

Q.) How do I become part of the Gotei 13, and do I have to be crew to do so?

A.) This came up because currently only members of the crew are playing the Gotei 13. This is to keep the storyline moving along accordingly. People will be allowed to play Captain/Vice Captain eventually, as their own story, and the main guild story progresses. Captaincy/VC is given based on several things. Dedication to the guild, staying active, character development, character level, and proof that you won't abandon the guild.

Anyone who leaves, or quits, forfeits their right to play captain, even if they come back at a later date, they will have to go through the steps to become a captain again, and in the case of quitting the guild entirely, will once again have to build their character from level 1.

Becoming Captain requires at least level 40+. Becoming Vice Captain of a squad requires at least level 30-35+. We hope this answers all questions thus far, regarding the process. More specifics will be added as people approach the level of strength where they can step forward from a seated member, to a squad leader.

G A M E P L A Y - Q U E S T I O N S

Q.) Where can I start role-playing?

A.) This is one of the easiest questions to answer. If you're a mortal, you start in the mortal subforum, in any of the threads you'd like, provided it's either one of the public threads, or that you have the thread owners permission to post there.

If you're anything relating even remotely to Soul Society, please post initially in that subforum. If you're a student at the academy, we suggest the dormitories to get yourself started. As far as the Soul Society, if you aren't sure where to post at first, there are beginning threads that are the different districts in soul society which your character may freely wander through.
