at summer camp last year i wanted to shot some hoops so i shot a 3 pointer by luck xD
Then this boy came over and asked did I wanna play a game and i said yea and went over to the other court. they were picking teams and he picked me first. i though to myself 'i hope he knows i cant play xD' after the teams were picked we started playing he kept throwing the ball to me and i shot it and missed 50 illion times xD like that was a surprise to me xD . then he stop giving the ball to me. I got mad and asked a girl who he constantly gave it to to pass me the ball. She said yea... then like 5 sec later she unexspectedly passed it to me....i didnt think i'd be so soon D:
it hit me right in the face gonk and the boy was like "i thought black people could play basketball"
i really didnt care but yeah that was embarressing xd

Anyone who sees me will know that stereotypes are false. xd
I can't play Basketball well, I can't braid hair (like, do cornrows and stuff), I don't think I can dance (I don't dance so I wouldn't know). The list goes on and on. lol

It's pretty stupid that someone in the 21st century, who is, presumably, of at least average intelligence and life experience, would actually believe such a silly stereotype. Hopefully it was a lame attempt at a snide remark because he misjudged your basketball skills. neutral
Most of those things that were mentioned--hair-braiding, basketball, dancing--they are all things that you'll either learn or you won't. If your family or peers do those things, then odds are, you will too, if they interest you or help you along socially. You also have to have someone to learn from...which, for many of those things, I personally didn't have. I learned to dance anyway, and there's nothing to playing basketball, so long as it's just for fun. I suppose learning to braid hair will come in handy one day, as one of my children may be female. wink

stereotypes are made to make people close-minded about other races
