This is the thread where Arctic Vixen's and Poetical Rain's Private AIM Griffin RP will be posted for everyone's viewing pleasure.
We ask that no one post in this thread, strictly because the events transpiring here have already happened - as in, we are posting an RP that has already taken place, so, for now, no new characters can be added =3...we just wanted everyone to be able to read it XD Partially because it LOOKS like we're not RPing otherwise, and partially because..well, I'll be honest. I for one want to show off the prettiness that is ACTUALLY DEVELOPED CHARACTERS. >.> Yes, I actually developed a Gaia character fully..dang. XD It's a first, trust me.
Perty much, this is, like, a backstory for our characters X3 Kinda.
I will be posting in this color, dark blue, and Rain's posts will be in her normal color.
Thanks! ;D Aaaand here we go!

Poet's spot. 8D
Yes, Vixie wants to show off. I for one have nothing to do with her ambitious ways and-*shot*
Vixie: drags the body away* ninja
Poet: *revives*
Anyhoo...uh. Yeah. Enjoy. <3
Character List Thing -=Under Heavy Construction=- People who we gave names to, in Order-of-Appearance. Kinda.
Name: Iris Nefretiri Played by: Arctic Vixen Age: 22 Gender: Female Character Type: Main/Protagonist Description: Medium--long length black hair. Dark, deep eyes, smooth complexion. Darker skin tone, characteristic of her Egyptian bloodline. More short than tall, but barely. Thin, curvy and elegant build. She is a gorgeous woman, always looking alive and vivid. Typically wears either very dark or very light clothing, with some sort of jewelry - Egyptian, by preference. Personality: Iris is a lively, headstrong woman. Raised in a world of fakes and liars, she has learned how to act when needed, how to play the part she is often expected to play. Outside of that plastic world, however, she is an honest and upfront individual...though sometimes, her want to appease causes her silence. Iris is fearless even in the face of danger and death, and knows how to protect herself and the people she loves if needed. She is intelligent and tries not to judge a person striclty on his or her status, but tries to use her intuition to decipher a person's true personality...though her family has taught her something she must constantly fight - be just as fake as the one you are dealing with, and be just as critical as they are of you on the inside. She is passionate and cares about those who she feels deserve her attention, but can easily turn and deliver justice as she sees fit, even if it involves her own family... Background: Iris was born to the wealthy and popular Nefretiri family of Xuan. Her father is a highly-respected political official, and her mother...well, likes to gossip. She has an elder brother of 3 years. The family is directly decendant of an ancient line of noble Egyptian priests, and money has never been lacking in their lives. Griffins: Ma'at, Sekhmet, Elrok
Name: Deste Kestrysen (Esterylen) Played by: Poetical Rain Age: 24 Gender: Male Character Type: Main/Protagonist Description: Naturally fair-skinned and fair-haired, he keeps the latter dyed black for purposes of profession. Strangely enough, at least when compared to other features, his eyes are as black as night. Of average height, his body is thin, deceptively hiding muscle and quick reflexes. While handsome (with both colors of hair), his tendency to scowl too much often interferes with that feature. Personality: While liking to believe he is cold and unfeeling, Deste is a very passionate person with a myriad of inner complexities. His mood may shift from hard to soft in a matter of seconds, black eyes usually betraying his emotions through icy darkness or liquid onyx. Though he does tend to show a very black heart to most of the world, he has a tender spot for an assorted few. Expressive with his words as well as his actions, he has a strange streak of loyalty and protectiveness in him - though this luxury is often hard-earned - that sometimes prevents personal logic and ambition from guiding him. Often, though, want for personal gain is held above all else, but few, if anyone, know what his exact goals in life are; secrecy is a golden rule in his book. Confident, yet not overtly cocky, he also has a degrading seed of self-worthlessness in his mind, which usually makes him call his life merely "existence." His hatred for the rich upper-class is cultivated from a past he'd rather not remember. Background: Born a b*****d (illegitimate) son of an affair between the High King of a neighboring country and a lower-ranking duchess, his official last name since childhood is taken after his mother's name; Kestra. The boy grew up with the harassment and shame that often accompanies such a scandal, with the idea of having little to no self-worth beaten into his head daily. While he began to believe in that concept, he nevertheless developed a hatred for the world around him. In particular, a deepest loathing was reserved for the aristocracy that disgraced himself and his mother. But despite this rocky upbringing, he was kept relatively safe under the careful watch of the rest of his family, who surprisingly harbored no ill-will towards him or his mother for the obvious "disgrace." But eventually, his growing discontentment with the society he lived him drove him, in his mid-teenage years, to try and do something to shift the cards of power; he became a thief and assassin, a dagger-for-hire, in order to manipulate and shame the families that had always tormented him. By the age of 19 he was wanted for several counts of heavy thievery and murder as well as terrorism. At the age of 20, he fled his home country and headed south, hoping to find refuge with relatives. Griffin: Kalei
Name: Amun Nefretiri, Jr. Played by: Arctic Vixen Age: 25 Gender: Male Character Type: Antagonist Description: Tall, dark and handsome - the classic good looking guy. He's rather thin with a very light build, but with a sly and intimidating air about him. His eyes are dark and calculating, and he has a deceivingly gentle look on his face. Personality: Amun is an intelligent business man, falling completely in line with the political and backstabbing world that he lives in. He's a little too arrogant for his own good, and often assumes he has the one-up on those closest to him...though, often, this is not the case. Amun is like his father in his ambition, but unlike his father in his disregard of people he cares about in order to get what he wants. Iris swears that this will be his downfall - she's probably right. Background: Amun was born to the wealthy and popular Nefretiri family of Xuan. His father is a highly-respected political official, and his mother...well, likes to gossip. He has an younger sister of 3 years. The family is directly decendant of an ancient line of noble Egyptian priests, and money has never been lacking in their lives. Griffin: none
Name: Estha Nefretiri Played by: Arctic Vixen Age: 47 Gender: Female Character Type: Supporting Description: Estha Nefretiri is a beautiful woman who has, thanks to her family line, aged gracefully. She has dark eyes and dark hair, but skin just a bit lighter than that of a common Egyptian. She is graceful and petite, and radiates confidence. Personality: Estha can be deceptive, but normally has no need for it. She has a very, very bad and deeply-ingrained habit of sticking her nose into other people's business. Her favorite hobby is catching the latest gossip. A social butterfly, she is present at almost literally every important event around Xuan, often dragging her son and daughter with her. She can be a little ditzy at times, and is most definitely spoiled by her rich upbringing. Background: Born into a noble family, she married the politician Amun Nefretiri and had two children, both of which she loves dearly...thou, she often can't understand the strange rivalry between them. Griffin: none
Name: Lenore Rosaylen Played by: Poetical Rain Age: 22 Gender: Female Character Type: Supporting/Sub-main Description: She strikingly handsome woman, with a lithe frame and features that bespeak classic beauty. However, she has none of the gentle charm that should accompany such a face. Her eyes are a stark shade of blue, and have a completely blank look to them - she is blind. However, he disability does not prevent her from carrying herself in a dignified manner. To further her look of adulthood, though she is scarcely of age, she holds a preference for sober-colored clothing and keeps her white-blond hair combed back and tight in a bun. Personality: The acquirement of her disability at an early age harvested a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue when Lenore grew into womanhood. Some would call her bitter because of her blindness, and almost all would say she is the coldest and probably meanest female they have ever met. She has a great sense of pride, which is, surprisingly, bred from a mix of her family bloodline and self-achievement from overcoming her disability. She respects only her elder sister Norene, and their grandmother, Noria Rosaylen, though she has a tendency to quarrel with them, and argue with just about anyone who cares to entertain. Background: Born the youngest daughter and last child of the current generation of the Rosaylen family, she lives with her grandmother, Noria Rosaylen, in a small estate on the outskirts of Xuan City. A griffin breeder and basic trainer - she bred her own griffin, Auster, with hopes of beginning a domesticated line of the rare crested variety - she is also a bit of a business woman and politician under her grandmother's command. She has close ties to the high royal family of a neighboring country, and has personally known Deste since childhood. She holds somewhat of a one-sided love-hate affection for him, though romantic feelings - if there ever were any - seem to be on hold for the moment. Griffin: Auster
Name: Amun Nefretiri, Sr. Played by: Arctic Vixen Age: 49 Gender: Male Character Type: Supporting Description: Amun Sr. is tall and handsome, a rather large guy. He has a few streaks of grey running through his black hair, and his dark eyes are sharp and wise. He has a gentle face and is handsome despite his growing age. Personality: He is a shrewd businessman, but maintains a gentle and...relatively honest exterior. In a world of dirty politics, he is respected for his ability to still stay on top while resisting a good deal of the backstabbing and mind games that most of his kind participate in. He loves his family dearly, but recognizes their strengths and faults in a rather realistic manner. Background: He was born into the noble Nefretiri line and soon found himself interested in politics. He married the lovely Estha of another noble family and had two children, Amun and Iris. He tends to favor the daughter over the son, due to his son's selfish nature. Griffin: None
Name: Noria Rosaylen Played by: Poetical Rain Age: 67 Gender: Female Character Type: Supporting Description: Personality: Background: Griffin: none
Name: Dante Esterylen Played by: Poetical Rain Age: 27 Gender: Male Character Type: Supporting Description: Personality: Background: Griffin: none
Name: Norene Rosaylen Played by: Poetical Rain Age: 23 Gender: Female Character Type: Supporting Description: Personality: Background: Griffin: none

A woman, standing just a few inches under the majority of the crowd, entered the auction with a...slightly overconfident air about her. A natural pride. Not that there was any reason for it - she was just there to watch. She was of a darker skin tone, medium-length black hair, all contrasted sharply with a white, button-up, sleeveless shirt and tan Capri’s. Around her neck was a simple circle of gold - the same metal on her wrist, ears...and upper arm, which held a golden snake that wrapped its way around her as if holding on for dear life. That trinket was what truly advertised what she was, and her pride in that. Her young griff, Ma'at, followed very closely and squawked once or twice upon getting more than a few inches behind her guardian. The auction had only just started, but the crowd was almost overbearing - she wasn't accustomed to people not knowing what 'personal space' meant. Then again, she also wasn't accustomed to going to these things. Her best friend requested that she go - very well.
After a few moments of glancing around, she took a seat at one of the tables that were doing little more than hindering the crowd's ability to move. She set her rather expensive purse on the table, and sat back, letting her peach-hued griffin rest her head on her lap. Petting her softly, the girl said a few soft words to sooth her companion, then looked around...already rather bored. Why, again, did she come?

Ah. So this was the auction fair that Nikki the Griffin Connoisseur had been speaking of.
Watching that woman and her adult griffin - who, for the record, was probably still staring murderously after the dark-haired young man - he discerned that a person of his status in life was highly out-of-place in this world of fancies and riches. On the other hand, any person in his general line of work was unwelcome in most social circles anyway, and he was especially offensive to these kinds of people. He supposed that his one saving grace was the fact of the four-legged ball of feathers trailing after him.
Deste was now exceedingly apparent of how valuable these creatures really were. Anyone who knew the caliber of his technique would think that he would have realized that long ago. Unfortunately for him, he was new to this part of the country, and where he came from, griffins were so rare that the commoner thought that they were still creatures of myth. And besides...his art dealt with precious metals and gems more than it did with live creatures.
At that moment, he stopped wandering about the general pack of bodies gathering to witness the auction that Nikki was holding. There were a fair amount of people...upper-class people interested in obtaining an apparently "rare" breed of griffin for themselves. The bird was a "Crested" female, or something. Nikki had said so; Deste hadn't been paying attention. He had been rather more interested in keeping a good distance between Darkfeather and himself. The adult male somehow hadn't taking a liking to him, even after their arrival at the fair. Oh, -what- a pity.
He took a moment to glance down at Kalei. The young spotted male was practically shadowing his father's footsteps, and considering that, the man wasn't too worried about someone snatching the hatchling away. Although always a subtle possibility - he'd received a few passing admirations about Kalei, something about rare coloration and such - but, well. He wouldn't be outdone without a fight. Speaking of which, might as well get to "work."
The young man had meandered himself over to a nearby table, where a young woman and a cream-colored griffin were seated. Said woman was, well....a "perfect specimen" for his line of work. Kalei whistled softly, as if somehow sensing what his guardian was about to do. It only took a few seconds, however; pass by the table, casual flick, and he now had in his possession a nice gold bracelet. Hm. Maybe he should consider bidding in some auction...

Her eyes swept sideways as a man passed, rather close to her, followed by an oddly color griffin. Not odd, actually, just different. Interesting, considering he was headed in a relaxed yet quick pace towards the actual auction itself. Perhaps he was wanting another special griffin?
Maybe...maybe not. Hm. Oh well.
A soft squawk had her looking down and stroking her griffin a few more times. The young creature stared up at her with those intelligent eyes, happy just to get the attention. Heh....cute, as always. She looked up, feeling eyes upon her, and found a few men staring at her. Figures. She was lovely, she knew it, she displayed it - but people who stared always got on her nerves. Turning her head t'wards the creature to be auction, she lifted a hand to brush some of those dark tresses out of her face....
Wait....
Her eyes narrowed. Something was missing.

Deste had stolen away, if casually, from the woman, who was bound to notice the missing piece of jewelry sooner or later. Preferably later, anyway.
Well, the auction for the other griffin was done with, and then it was Nikki's turn, something about gryps nemorensis columba...hm. That female looked like a nice piece of creatures. Perhaps the man should start turning towards a more positive goal in life; using his skills to eventually buy and sell off, at large prices, different griffins.
At that point, Kalei gave a small chirp, pressing closely into his human guardian's leg....On second thought, Deste disliked animals nearly more than he was disinclined to association with his own race.
Couldn't hurt to give another one a try, though. Maybe Kalei would get some backbone from being around an older griffin. Good thing the bid had started out high; it kept people considering about how much they wanted to put on the line for the juvenile.
Raising his voice, he called out, "I'll bid 20,000."

She was only moderately distracted by the bidding. The first bidder caught her attention - or, rather, caught her attention again. It was that man with the special little griffin by his side. Cocking an eyebrow, she 'hm'd’ to herself lightly, then went back to searching for her bracelet.
She had a nagging idea, but...nah. Highly unlikely.
Her bag was quietly searched, as was the area immediately near her. She would have felt it fall off, right? Sensing something different, Ma'at started looking around as well, but the female really didn't know what she was looking for - t'was merely imitation of her owner. 'Dammit...' she said quietly, glancing around a few more times. There was no way that thing went that far...
The lovely Egyptian woman stood, striding slowly around...half looking for her trinket, half watching the auction.

The art of thievery had a single, strict guideline that was never to be broken; ultimate secrecy. When one obtained something of value, one was to get far away, and fast. Not linger around in the vicinity of the person(s) one had just thieved from. And, out of the corner of his eye, Deste could see that dark-haired woman stalking about, looking for her bracelet.
Nice thing it was. Worth at least 30,000 coins for the bracelet alone, judging by the quality of the craftsmanship. Had a few nice jewels on it too, which raised the worth to a good 40,000. A lot of money to compliment the general finery of the female he had relieved it from. All these gaudy people, looking nice and pretty, expecting to get gawked at and putting on the show of really disliking it. If you want to be noticed, become nondescript. Another rule for a good thief
He really shouldn't. But he couldn't help it. He was feeling somehow...adventurous, for once.
"40,000." he voiced.

Her attention was focused, yet another time, on the man. Now hold on a moment. She wasn't generally one to judge, but...well....the circumstances fit. And the constant bidding, combined with the odd vibe he gave off, made something try to click in her brain. Suddenly, her demeanor changed. It wasn't quite anger - anger usually meant not becoming as sweet as possible. For her, on the other hand, anger meant just that - she became the most gentle human on the planet...in that slightly disturbing, I'm-going-to-saw-your-head-off-with-my-smile sort of way.
Now, now....she wasn't SURE he did it. Easy.
Calmly...barely, calmly..she began striding his way. Smiling ever so slightly.

Kalei squawked nervously. In that briefest moment, Deste had, simultaneously, felt the same feeling; Caught. Good thing that silver-haired girl had given him an out by challenging his bid, however. He could run now.
But he also felt that this woman was one of those....pesky confrontational ones. Not the kind that'll run to her man when something goes amiss, oh no. She belonged to the breed that could hold her own, or at least, make the face of being able to do so. The girl now after him, despite her roaring aura of independence, was small enough for him to deal with easily.
Of course, he couldn't dispose of anyone right out in the open in front of so many witnesses, so without further adieu, the thief turned on heel and began to wander away in any given direction where there weren't as many people. He would prefer not to have her follow him, as even if he did pull steel on her, there WAS the problem of her griffin raising hell. Again...he wished his Kalei had more backbone. The spotted thing wouldn't fight, he knew that much.
She was following him. Against her better judgment.

Well, fleeing was certainly a sign. Though it wasn't technically fleeing, and he did just get beat out by that silver-haired girl....gah, it couldn't hurt. That was a lie. Oh well. She pursued.
It certainly was rather irritating, having to follow him without openly doing the equivalent of yelling 'STOP! THIEF!'. Too many people. Making sure not to go too fast for Ma'at to keep up, she juggled keeping her eye on him and gaining on him at the same time. They were taking two separate paths, weaving and winding through the people of the crowd, always just barely aware of where the other was. Was he headed for an exit? Seemed like it....was this a good idea? Probably not. She'd probably lose if there was a 'battle', but if he really did take her bracelet...there would be hell to pay. That was family history, not just some plated department store mass of junk.
Her dark eyes narrowed just a bit more, jaw set, as she slowly gained on her prize.

Persistent girl, she was. He was walking as quickly as possible without appearing anything but casual, but she still managed to follow him. Luckily, Kalei was quick on his feet, though Deste attributed that to his need to hover near his guardian at all times. The chick wasn't just keeping up; he often would run into the human's legs. Well, as long as the griffin didn't make the man trip.
Inconspicuously slipping the bracelet into a safe tuck of his shirt, the thief entered the market-area of the auction fair. Even though the main items of interest at these grounds were griffins, other crafters of more traditional wares often came to such functions; they attracted a lot of potential buyers. So, in the maze of tents filled with people, he should be able to lose her. Unfortunately, she was no longer within range of his peripheral vision, so he wouldn't know when he would lose her...if at all.
Hm. Perhaps he should stop and pick up new knife or two in the meantime.
Strolling along the rows of stalls set up for sales, Deste clucked softly, a reminder for Kalei to stay close, though the griffin was probably the most unlikely one to wander off on his own. The man kept a careful check on him regardless, while also keeping his senses open to the environment around him. Even when he had ducked into the first available open space between stalls, he kept alert. It would be best NOT to get jumped now, in a tight space that left little room for escape.
Lucky day; he'd wandered directly into a weapon blacksmith's tent. And the proprietor of the shop wasn't in, by the looks of it. Hm...ignoring Kalei's plaintive whistles, Deste began investigating the merchandise. Some nice swords, though those were much too long, and thus heavy, for him. A thief had no use for armor, so he passed over those as well....Ah, there. Picking up a few and twirling them lightly, he found a set of two that he found suited his preferred weight and length. They were very-well crafted too...and probably worth what he'd stolen earlier.

"Dammit!" she cursed under her breath, having to stop momentarily at the opening of the market area. With a slightly protestant squawk, Ma'at ran head-long into her legs, though a ruffle of feathers later she was balanced again. Quickly glancing down to make sure her young griff was ok, she then let her eyes dart about the area in hopes of seeing him. A slight hiccup with two auction participators made her lose sight of him, though she knew he went this way...
...there!
She found him, and didn't let her eyes leave him, trying as best as she could to keep from seeming too frantic, she followed quickly, determined not to lose him again. The girl watched him weave in and out of stalls, and she lost him two or three times, before seeing him move into a tent and, for once, not come out.
Gotcha.
She got herself to a shop parallel to the one he was in, and made it so that she could juuust see his form out of the corner of her eye. Pretending to inspect some random bag that, in all honesty, she would NEVER buy anyway. See, now that she got to this point, she wasn't exactly sure what she was going to do....was the owner of the shop in there? If he was, she would have to do some fabulous acting. If not...hmmm. Decisions, decisions.
Chancing a more definitive glance, she watched him reach...somewhere, bring out a light, shiny object - her bracelet - set it down, and start to walk out with what looked like nothing at all. Well, that last part certainly wasn't true. The woman didn't have time to consider it - now or never. She moved swiftly to the left, so she was not in direct view of the door, moved right up to the tent, and shot into the doorway. Aaand right in the path of the thief.
As of yet, she had nothing to say....not like she had to explain herself. So she stood there, facing him, partially wondering what was going to happen, and partially wondering why he left her bracelet just sitting there...
...taking a very quick moment to glance beyond him and into the shop, she had a pretty good idea of what the answer was.

Oh no. Caught.
The moment his stalker looked away, distracted by something behind him - probably the wares of the tent - he jumped at her. One of the two knives he had just appropriated flew out of its sheath, the speed of the draw testimony to the fine craftsmanship of the entire outfit. The polished steel was at the woman's throat, and the entire movement of drawing and positioning dagger and stance had taken less than a second.
The phrase "The hunter had become the prey" crossed Deste's mind briefly, but, he was not one to smirk and gloat at gaining the upper-hand. So he merely stood there, tensed and alert in case she pull a trick of her own, but staring down into her face with deep-set eyes that challenged her to just go and try something. The threat was misplaced, however; even if the girl didn't try something, her pet griffin certainly would.
The sounds of an angry squawk reached the thief's ears, and he was about to divert his attention and make to jump away when a challenging cry came from behind him. A moment later, while still keeping his eyes locked on the dark-haired woman's face, he was able to see a bundle of brown-spotted and cream-colored feathers tumbling about.
Kalei had actually defended him? What a day full of surprises....
