Once you pick a red turnip, does it go bad like the white ones, or does it stay good like the fruits you grow from trees?

After I dig mine up, I put them in my room. They don't rot if you do that.

Put turnips on a table. There's a glitch that causes them from going bad. Just make sure you drop an item by your feet before dropping the turnips or they'll just fall to the floor.

The white turnips you sell you Nook for $$$ and the red ones you need for a quest to get certain items from special characters that you can't get any other way (except with the red turnips you've grown).

2 Questions...
1) Do they need to be grown turnips to start the trade? Or can I just give the seeds?
2) I know you have to water the red one everyday, but when will I know it's fully grown? Say I plant one today...when do I pick it out of the ground?

1) No, they don't have to be full grown. You can plant the seeds and dig up the turnip right then. The characters won't be able to tell the difference.
2) Joan says that if you plant them on a Sunday (the day she comes), you will have to dig them up next Saturday or else they will rot.
I hope I helped. 3nodding

Yes you did because as soon as my sister plays her side it'll be my turn and I'll plant it and give it to him whenever he visits my town. Thanks.

I've kept a turnip in the ground for a month before. As lond as you water it every day, and don't dig it up, it'll keep. It did for me. 3nodding

So how do I know that I'm watering it right? Where should I see the water droppings?

Just stand right above it and water it. The water should be dropping on the leaves. Just like you would water a flower. It doesn't have to be exact. 3nodding
