Kale stood dozing under the shade of a willow. There had been nothing better to do before then and he had felt tired anyway. His ears twitched back and forth every once in a while; an attempt to locate danger before it was too late.His mind flittered over a mirad of dreams, never seeming to fall deep enough to be caught into a single one and he was constantly snorting himself to wakefulness. He drifted off again after waking, his tail flicking at one of the last lingering bugs that had lived through the first cold days for winter.

Fortune was not danger, at least, so he needn't mind her. He probably wouldn't have had to mind her in the least of the female hadn't been walking without being mindful of her steps, cracking random branches beneath her hooves.
Or the singing. She was singing stuff and nonesense and the poor female didn't have the best voice in the world. Not that it was the worst, either. It just wasn't the best - and it cracked every time she hit a high note.
Not that she minded one bit. Nope, to her, she was perfectly on pitch. After all, it was a stuff and nonesense song that she made up - there could be no wrong pitch.

Kale's ears flicked toward the strange new noise, interrupting his nap. He blinked open vibrant green eyes and raised his dark head to find the source of such a....song. She wasn't the best of songstress' her voice flittered over the notes with varying degrees of accuracy. He let out a heavy sigh. So much for a restful sleep, not that the sleep he had been in before had been entirely restful.
He tossed his head, both to clear it and to get the white braids out of his eyes. Looking over, he heard that whoever was singing was coming toward him so there was no reason to move ahead. Perhaps if shesaw him she would become more quiet?

Fortune stopped short upon seeing the male, green eyes going wide. She hadn't been expecting anyone to be around and suddenly shyness crept over her.
It definitely shut her up singing wise, giving Kale's ears rest from those horrible notes.
"Uh..." she started, looking back and forth, "Did I disturb you?"

Kale raised a brow as the mare quieted at the sight of him. She was pretty enough, green curly hair flowed off her shoulders, and similar green stripes extended down her front legs. She slowly nodded his head in greeting, "Not particularly," He replied carefully, "I wasn't sleeping well anyway." He shrugged, "What brings you here, miss?"

Fortune's head gave a little bob, "Well, I'm glad I didn't disturb you. Sometimes I get lost in my own little world..." she trailed off before lifting flicking her head and making a few strands of her green hair move away from her sea-green eyes.
"Nothing in particular. Just...here?" Fortune wondered if that made sense to anyone other than her. She didn't particularly ever know where she was going unless she HAD to go somewhere.
Otherwise it was just random wandering about.
"You?" It was only polite to extend the same consideration to the stallion, wasn't it?

Kale nodded, mentally forcing the sleep from his mind. It was clinging and he'd rather have his wits about him. "Just being here is fine," He bobbed his head as a breeze ruffled his braids, "After all, it's not like there's much to do around here anyway." He shrugged, "But I digress." He gave her a faint smile, she seemed like a nice enough soquili.
"I'm afraid, I am just "here" as well." he looked at her, green eyes glittering in the sunlight that streamed faintly through the willow's leaves, "May I ask your name? It is rather rude to just say "miss" all the time." Cocking his head and he added, "I am Kale, by the way."

Her head canted to the side, "I think there's lots to do, if you just look for it." It was a small disagreement but maybe he just hadn't taken the time to look for things to do?
Or maybe she was just slightly out of her mind and found weird things interesting. Both were high possibilities.

Kale nodded, "There's nothing wrong with sleeping though," He yawned, "Passes the time quite nicely." He tossed his mane, "A pleasure to meet you, Fortune." he answered genially, "How are you this pleasant afternoon?" He was awake, might as well provide a pleasant conversation.

"It does. But you miss much when you do." Fortune often regretted sleeping. How many things had she missed, after all? Then again, her dreams were always pretty entertaining.
"I'm doing all right, thank you for asking," the mare paused, "I'm sorry for interrupting your nap, still."

Kale shrugged, "It's not a big deal, I can always catch up on it later." He flicked his tail, and mentally sighed, conversations weren't that easy when the other party didn't contribute much. The silence lengthened and he finally sighed, "So tell me, Fortune, how long have you been in the soquili lands?" Lame question, but he didn't exactly have much to work with.
